I just realized that at 0;15 you could crawl under that block instead of hitting the bullet block on the side of that tree...ive been playing this about 16yrs and just realized that!
A wonderful way to beat this level is by using the Cyclone transformation that you get in the previous level. Not only is the cyclone super fast but also on the rubber block stairway part you can glide/spin down without violently touching the blocks. However, be careful not to fly too high in this level because you have no controll over his speed coming down, which is pretty slow---In this level, you want all the speed control you can get!
@otwo40 GOSH ! This level... I never followed a walkthrough, and played it with an emulator recently. This is the level that is still bIocking me, I didn't know it was legendary.
I also tried the cyclone, and indeed there are advantages, but also inconveniences. Finally, maybe the normal kid is the best to beat the level.
When I was a kid, I saw many "Game Over", screens in this stage. This was probably the stage that I shed the most tears on. I remember thta I would spend about four hours playing and then get to this stage and loose it all. I remember thinking "I'm going to sue the people that made this game", only because they made it with no continues. It is great to be able to laugh about that now; back then, that was serious business for me....video games were my life.

This stage gave me nightmares. You have to hit that bumper at exacly the right space or it's over.

i just time my jumps, even hesitating maybe a few split seconds because if you try to go TO fast you end up getting smashed. keep trying.
