reading this book for the first time. about halfway done. so far im very intrigued by it, the detail presented of these mysterious characters gives you such a shock, as we can relate to these people in our own lives and helps you think for yourself. i definatly will have to re-read this at some point again, as i wish to notice some of the more minute details asked in this video.
Just as an example, the answer to #1 is that the first thing Keating notices is the people on the street and how they compare to him. The tie in to #8 is that Roark is so focused on the buildings that he doesn't even notice people enough to avoid running into them.
But the core philosophy is only couple of sentences. My thought was to understand it and run with it ....Create something, Express Yourself, Enjoy all the goodies in life and live life fully free of guilt and with out looking for confirmation from any one else.
I'm re-reading it now. Rand's economy in writing still never ceases to surprise me. I first read Fountainhead back in 1993 but am still discovering new stuff I didn't notice before.
Yeah, I just re-read it this summer for the upteenth time, and reading it now a couple of months later, I'm *again* seeing a lot that I hadn't before. Happens every time.
The way you say "fountainhead" with your braces is really sexy.

What are your thoughts on the character Shlinker ? or perhaps a better question would be what can we learn from the character of Shlinker.

There's a point to all the details in these questions. They reveal a depth that would be missing otherwise. :-)

"But the core philosophy is only couple of sentences."
If you want a very facile understanding of it, okay. If you want a deep understanding of it, you should slow down and read all the details.

I am talking about Core philosophy and not facile..
Details mentioned in this video, are just expressions of the characters' core philosophy of life, depending on the circumstance..
Any way, I am not arguing about this. I like Ayn Rand and her philosophy..
So Peace...
