1. He could do a British accent. It's called acting.

2. Several men who have played Bond before now aren't English, either. Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan.

I've been really surprised over the years with the people I've seen (both famous and not) that smoke. I smoked for 8 years (14 to 22) and I miss it like crazy, so I'm always amused to find that celebs I like smoke.

I think she probably doesn't smoke in real life because she doesn't smoke on the show. Matt Weiner has said that he doesn't make characters smoke unless the actor smokes because they don't fake it in a convincing way. If Elisabeth Moss smoked why wouldn't he make Peggy smoke?

I guess you could argue it would be out of character for Peggy but because smoking didn't have the same connotations then I'm not sure that's true.
