When an act is in direct violation of God's law, it can be considered worse than pornography. Pornography is a thing and cannot sin. Only men can sin with how they use it. But making an image of God is in direct violation of the Second Commandment. This video and the painting rendered herein is in direct violation of the 2nd Commandment of God. You think anyone's going to depict Jesus as what he really looked like? He was middle eastern, not white, and he probably had short hair being a carpenter. It's funny how everyone paints and draws him as a white man with long flowing hair.

i cant help but see a pattern in how god is represented by most as looking straight outta alabama. i guess drawing him looking like the people from the place he originated from would be too.. riskay. i know its not the point but if you watch the boondocks christmas episode, youll know what i mean and why this is so. anyway, painting is therapeutic.

The classic depictions of Christ by Renaissance painters have been so widely distributed for the past 1000 years or so that they have be come synonymous with the subject of his life, and are what people usually think of when talking about Jesus. I agree that he likely looks nothing like his depictions. Whatever his physical appearance is makes no difference to me. It"s who he is (The Saviour of the world.) That's the message!
This is the way I believe Jesus looks like....very serene and loving. Can't wait to meet Him someday. Want Him to take ALL my troubles and worries away and just sit and visit with Him. I will beg for forgiveness at his feet for every terrible thing I have done. I am so sorry for being a piece of crap, Jesus.

@Northern5tar Jesus Christ was not a Socalist. There was nothing coercive in his teachings -everything was based on individual choice. Socialism is the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles that happens through mandate of a government. He never mention the government when he talked about charity...it was done through the family, church and individual. Let me know where you find the reference to Christ exorting the government to levy taxes on people for redistribution of wealth.
Images of Christ are an abomination, no matter what your intent. There is a reason Jesus was not described by any of the apostles or anyone who saw Him in person. We don't even know how tall He was, or the color of His eyes.
"Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man." (Acts 17:29) See also, Romans 1:19-20.
@skuuter Divine being He is...But don't forget He took on HUMAN flesh. Images of Christ are no more of an abomination as a picture of your family members (which is what Christ's body is) The whole reason why we have images of Christ is to remind us that He's there...to inspire love in us, for Him. Remember: Out of sight, out of mind.....I don't think God wants that if we're to love Him. We just don't worship that image like we don't worship any other image, but we worship the God it represents.
While I agree with John's assessment of the appearance of Christ, it still bugs me when he's depicted as anglo saxon, which he could not possibly be. Remember the Time issue where He was depicted from all over the globe: every artist rendered Him in their own image; Chinese, Black, Indian, etc.

He speaks on how the bible barely describes Christ's physical appearance because He wanted us to remember his message, more than his outward appearance... I guess, just watch the video and listen to what he has to say. It's actually a positive message.
And I understand where you're coming from. Still, if that's the point the artist was trying to make it would have been more effective had he gone outside the lily-white, airbrushed model Jesus we see everywhere.
THAT would have made people think of the assumptions we make about his appearance and perhaps how his message has been distorted, much like his image has.
Not that to me it really matters (not a Christian) but it must be grating to people who live in the Middle-East.

Each of us must make a choice, whether we will serve God or Satan. The reality is, however, that only one of those two will provide an eternal reward. Without a choice, we are robots, programmed to carry out a command. God wants a relationship with us; Satan, instead, wants us to join him in eternal hell--misery loves company. Sure, God can wipe out evil completely, but if He does, then He takes away choice. I choose God, and I am not, and will not be, disappointed.

It probably doesn't matter. And you probably won't believe me. But Jesus Christ appeared to me. His face is beyond what a painter on earth could paint. The love is so real, so powerful it can't be imitated. But the other characteristics: His hair is light brown. He has a beard. He has beautifully masculine facial features. His hair is somewhat shoulder length, a little bit longer but not much, to my recollection (it was 2 years ago).
@fwfassett I understand and agree.After He appeared to me, I just couldn't believe Jesus would appear to me. I kept wondering if He was an angel. But I knew an angel of God would direct my faith to Jesus, not to himself. Since He held out His hand to me during a demonic attack, and the way He looked at me with such love, I just couldn't believe he was an angel. One nite, I was reading a magazine, and the thought came to me to turn on the TV. I don't even watch tv. So I ignored the thought...
@fwfassett Part 2: The thought to turn on the tv came to my mind 2 (? at least )more times. It was kind of like an argument with yourself because I didn't want to watch tv. I went into the room where the tv is, turned it on, and there was a Jew talking to a Christian interviewer, and said that he was walking in Jerusalem with a friend when Jesus Christ appeared to him. His friend didn't see him but the Jew said Jesus was as real as the interviewer was. The Jew said when Jesus smiled..
@fwfassett Part 3: The Jew said that when Jesus smiled with so much love he knew that HE was what was missing in his life. Jesus then was walking away from the Jew up on a wall. The Jew said he wanted Jesus to turn around and look at him so badly just one more time. Jesus did and the man went to a Jews for Jesus headquarters and got saved that day. Thus, God confirmed to me Jesus did appear to me, not an angel.

God is all colors, all races, all people everyone sees him as they need to see him i don't believe he was really a race at all he is all people he will appear to you as you need him to.

It probably doesn't matter. And you probably won't believe me. But Jesus Christ appeared to me. His face is beyond what a painter on earth could paint. The love is so real, so powerful it can't be imitated. But the other characteristics: His hair is light brown. He has a beard. He has beautifully masculine facial features. His hair is somewhat shoulder length, a little bit longer but not much, to my recollection (it was 2 years ago).

@fwfassett I understand and agree.After He appeared to me, I just couldn't believe Jesus would appear to me. I kept wondering if He was an angel. But I knew an angel of God would direct my faith to Jesus, not to himself. Since He held out His hand to me during a demonic attack, and the way He looked at me with such love, I just couldn't believe he was an angel. One nite, I was reading a magazine, and the thought came to me to turn on the TV. I don't even watch tv. So I ignored the thought...

@fwfassett Part 2: The thought to turn on the tv came to my mind 2 (? at least )more times. It was kind of like an argument with yourself because I didn't want to watch tv. I went into the room where the tv is, turned it on, and there was a Jew talking to a Christian interviewer, and said that he was walking in Jerusalem with a friend when Jesus Christ appeared to him. His friend didn't see him but the Jew said Jesus was as real as the interviewer was. The Jew said when Jesus smiled..

@fwfassett Part 3: The Jew said that when Jesus smiled with so much love he knew that HE was what was missing in his life. Jesus then was walking away from the Jew up on a wall. The Jew said he wanted Jesus to turn around and look at him so badly just one more time. Jesus did and the man went to a Jews for Jesus headquarters and got saved that day. Thus, God confirmed to me Jesus did appear to me, not an angel.

@julieification - Thank you so much for your beautiful story. I wonder how many others are being drawn to Jesus, but haven't responded - yet. He loves everyone and wants all to believe and receive the free gift of eternal life from Him. Jews for Jesus is an excellent group of believers, spreading the Good News of Jesus to Jews worldwide.

Was it a coward who shook His hand in the face of the authorities and pronounced them “liars, low, filthy, and degenerate”?
