it just made me think of a porno with robert plant totally drillin allison krauss. they've probably done it anyway. with t bone burnett watching. gonna make you sweat indeed.
Robert blew his voice out by 76...this transition is what he SHOULD be doing...one of the greatest blues rock vocalists......man...I remember the first time I heard "Whole Lotta Love"....I couldn't believe what I was hearing from this man.
And it seems that TBone Burnett had something to do with the music. Sounds a lot like his old band. The deep bass sounds on drums and rythm guitar. If not then a great band anyway.
Loved this the first time around when I was i my early twenties. Now that I am in my early 60's love it even more. Just brilliant, what a fantastic collaboration. Superb.
I'm guessing none of you are musicians to not be able to appreciate this performance. This song was part of a body of work, all these years later he brilliantly changes it and you have to be a negative nelly? I want the artists I like to constantly grow and reinvent themselves, I was thrown when he collaborated/toured with Alison Krauss but I thought this was an amazing duet
T-bone Burnett gets just as much credit as Plant and Krause. He's a genius,.Check out the live version of "When The Levee Breaks." It's here on YouTube. Brilliant.
I believe Allison Krauss is Plants new babe/muse....if you disagree, I don't care....insult away! THIS IS AMERICA YOU-TARDS....LOL....BTFW....I LOVE Robert plant and like Allison Krauss
The original song spoke raw sexuality. This one reflects more sentuality. Hot and nasty verses Simmering passion. There is a time and place for both in my world.
C'mon folks...Bob's an old rich deve and he just enticed a bueautiful butterfly into his weberruny....I stil, tho, believe in Alison as I did a generation ago when I heard Bobby blasting away....etc
@RumbleGuts2112 Yeah, just better to do the same thing over and over the same way it's always been done. Because--as everyone knows--artists don't like to progress or improve. This was never meant as a replacement, it's just a collaboration that was interesting to the both of them. And T-Bone Burnett is such a great arranger, his take added different dimensions. And as far as him selling out? Plant turned down a tour with a revamped LZ so he could do a smaller one doing things like this. Sheesh
@triplettam I didnt point the finger i asked a question. Of course artists like to grow and improve but once something has reached perfection more poking and prodding will only bring it down. Fans love a song for many reasons on many different emotional levels... to play about with such a classic song kind of spoils the memories. There are rare times when a classic should be left alone and this is one of those times :)
@RumbleGuts2112 You didn't point a finger by calling this an "utter rubbish version?" I highly recommend you go here and look up Plant/Krause "Raising Sand." It's an 8 minute interview with them and T-Bone Burnet. They first got together for a tribute to Leadbelly. It felt so right, they decided to do something. Being a musician myself, I know that feeling. I saw Zep 4 times, and this has absolutely no effect on my memories. And they have enough respect that they can do whatever they want.
you could tell that Robert was holding back out of respect for Allison, he wanted to jump up and down and dance around but it would have made Allison look bad, Looking at her face she was clearly in awe of Robert and he returned the favor by not upstaging her.
@rietveldg83: In case you didn't know, Allison Krauss has won a record 26 Grammys. That's probably more than you can count, given your juvenile comments. Next time, try not to be such an ignoramus on a public forum. Unless you want to be beaten about like a pinyata.
Guess ya had to be there, or just astute, the band and audience had a great time, why trolls bother to leave dumb remarks about subjective personal choice, i dunno, fucktards i suppose?
Its very interesting how every one gets so upset over something so meaningless!! Ive been laughing about this all night. You people have fun with this bad rendition, ill just listen to the original. Bye bye ;)
First off im not telling you who I am you creep. Second, those 2 insults are the same thing duh. Third, Robert Plant is good and that mystery girl is not. Just give me Robert Plant and this rendition would have been excitable
rietveldge83 are you really that much of a moronic imbecile or just ignorant? I think a better question might be who are you? Obviously a nobody who has opions that are worth nothing at all. Sad really but who really cares, the music is great and both performers are top of their genre.
@rietveldg83 WHAT? Are you tone deaf? Alison Krauss is one of the greatest vocalists on the planet! I really hope you're just trolling otherwise you have no idea what you're talking about.
@rietveldg83 i bet most would like to see you castrated for your comment. These artists are having a great time, loving in a way you'll never understand or know. This is natural and smooth, perfect harmonics, perfect combination of instruments and vocals, even the pace is nice -when you have your lady in your arms swaying in the moonlight, with this amazing series of renditions playing, one hell of a fine night it was, open your heart and make tonight special, but who needs U anyway?
Plant and Krauss have 2 very amazing & unique voices that blend well togethe. Oh if only Page and Jones were there too and if Bonzo was still around! Awesomeness!!!
I saw Led Zeppelin in the 70s and this is no shabby version of a great song. T-Bone Burnett isn't Jimmy Page but the guitar on this suits the rest of the performance. Good post!
I'm sorry, but this rendition is SO AMAZING. The combination of sounds here is nothing short of mind-blowing, and every player/singer is a virtuoso. If you are a Zep fan but don't dig this, you need to broaden your horizons and learn to appreciate other forms of music.
I like this version - still and all - when all is said and done, when I'm driving the SLK 230 with the top down, and the "real" version screaming, the foretelling of my arrival - THAT is "LIFE..."
Amazing
