  • I lived in Charleston when it hit ,but luckily I was only a year and 1 month old exactly when it hit. Would be cool to remember some of it though.

  • OMG! I MIGHT MOVE TO CHARLESTON!! IT HAS A LOT OF BAD HURRICANES!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  • But they don't use the name hugo for hurricanes anymore.

  • I bet hugo cepret wanted his notebook so badly that he had a hurricane named after him. If you don't get it than read the book of ''THE INVENTION OF HUGO CEPRET''.

  • Rob Fowler appeared at 1:55!

  • we got wind gust to140!!!

  • hurricane irene wasn't bad it was a very weak on

  • @417polkadot It was weak in terms of wind, but was not weak in terms of water. The surge was not as disastrous as forecast, but it was still pretty strong and a HUGE rainmaker at that. My cousin lives along the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and her house was flooded and the roof was practically gone. The category of a hurricane just measures wind, it does not measure rain, or surge. Well it does surge to some extent. Irene was a Cat. 1 at landfall, but it carried Cat. 3 storm surge with it.

  • Hugo destroyed my home and me and my family escaped with 25 mins of watching our home get swept up in a tornado from my grandmothers house. It was scary and I was 7 years old. Wow!

  • I still have MY "I survived Hurricane Hugo" T-shirt! That's so funny that you remembered this....I was just trying to come back and compare the winds and all. We're currently at 37 mph winds.....It's definitely not Hugo out there, thank God!

  • @FamilySmith Try not to lose it. Because you won't be able to replace it, because they don't use the name hugo for hurricanes.

  • ugh did hugo happen again in 1999 if not then im alot older then my parents said.....

  • remember this i was 12 got that shirt ya know "i survived hurricane hugo" wish i still had it

  • Slept through it in Goose Creek -was 6 yrs old. My Aunt got a tree through her living room lol

  • wow i am in boston and a hurricane is coming to us! AHHHHHHH i DONT WANT TO DIE! GOD SAVE US! ....

  • @SSarsKing Stop over-reacting. We'll be FINE. It's gonna be a Cat. 1 by the time it hits us. To put that in perspective, hurricaine katrina was a cat. 4, meaning it's winds were twice the power that this hurricaine will be. RELAX.

  • @SSarsKing I have an idea. EVACUATE!!!!

  • @SSarsKing Just stay calm. They don't use the name hugo anymore. Hurricane hugo is WAY worse than your hurricane whatever the name is. Lucky for ME, I live in manchester, TN that has tornadoes, not hurricanes. HOWEVER, I might move to charleston. Wich has A LOT of hurricanes so you are safe, and I am prablably DOOMED! So you're safe, and I'm doomed. You are LUCKY!

  • Is that a young Rob Fowler?

  • @DetroitDRight No, it's Bill Sharpe, a South Carolina Lowcountry newscaster in the city of Charleston. He still does broadcasts today.

  • I was 2 when this happened

  • This storm is the earliest memories of my life, I was four

  • @boyisgood2085 me too--I was 3

  • My mom and dad and grandparents survived that.... and she was preg with my first brother.... i'm glad i was born may1st 1999

  • my mom survied that. god bless

  • I was in Columbia for Hugo,it happend on my 19th birthday,it was the scariest thing I ever went through

  • i was born october 6 '89 in puerto rico XD I was almost born in the middle of the hurricane

  • i was 6. i'm from columiba, we evacuated to dent middle school for shelter. i remember getting woke up by my mom late one night and we had to get out of our trailer and seek shelter. i didn't really know what was going on until we got to the school. it was scary.

  • SC is overdue for another direct impact...

  • @Dillon1108 Irene

  • @boyisgood2085 Maybe, they are not sure where it is going but wouldn't surprise me if we got a hit from this near or at Charleston. We live about 36 miles from edisto Beach so when we heard at Noon today that they said Edisto beach landing we started our prep plan

  • @boyisgood2085

    nope

  • Remembering the past.......I was 19 years old!

  • 21 years ago today!!

  • I live In SC! I wan't born then!

  • What an amazing compilation! I love that you have the NOAA Marine archive radio broadcasts in there! Such a beautiful monster this storm....lived through it in Charlotte as a teenager.
