Interesting to note how the GOP's "solutions" to the present health care crises were never on the table in that same period, either (e.g., allowing customers to buy insurance in other states, which somehow magically dilutes the risk pool and reduces costs).
Okay, #1, federal money has never been used to fund abortions. #2, if the Republicans are going to defund Planned Parenthood, then they damn well better find another way to give me free fucking healthcare so that I can have access to a gynecologist! Yet another person that wants to put the blame on someones belief system instead of the problem itself. Isn't the real problem that 1 out of 3 women have an abortion before the age of 45? An overwhelming amount of abortions are performed on women who never intended on having a baby. Isn't the real blame to be placed on the women, for not taking the proper procedures, to ensure that a baby isn't produced? Abortion is not a form of birth control.

For the last time country fucks it's AhMerica not 'Merica. I know even the President says it like that when he wants to be "folksy or down" but Jebus.
COUGH*** HYDE AMENDMENT ***COUGH! You can SMELL the bullshit as soon as the "square the circle" question is asked. Is asking these SCUMBAGS to die in a fire too much to ask? Just checking!
if these people think that the money that the government gives to P.P. go towards abortion then they RECOGNIZE THAT THE MONEY THAT THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE THAT CAME FROM OUT OF THE COUNTRY WENT DIRECTLY TOWARDS FUNDING POLITICAL ADS. republicans must think that what the C.o.C. did was illegal and that it should be shut the fuck down.
GOP holding the people hostage over funding for abortion is so absurd since it has been illegal for the government to fund abortions for a very long time. Boner agreed to Obama's budget last night at about 39 billion too! 3.5 hours left until shut down.

The REPUBLICANS LIE LIE LIE! How can they claim their budget is about JOBS? Well, I guess since Goldman Sachs & Moody's both said the REPUBLICAN Budget could cost as many as 700,000 JOBS by 2012 then their budget is about JOBS...KILLING JOBS! I AM SO SICK OF THESE RELIGIOUS NUTS TRYING TO TURN AMERICA INTO A CORPORATE CONTROLLED THEOCRACY!
@stevenrthr100 You did not hear what he said? He said it was about JOBS! LOL! It blows me away how the Republicans can LIE LIE LIE & the public does not punish them at for it! They actually award them for doing nothing but LIE LIE LIE & trying to push Christianity on everyone! Oh well, we will see where the public comes down on this but guess is there are enough IGNORANT Americans that the Democrats will get blamed!
I ask you, how much in debt do we have to go until we can never repay it? Do you think borrowing money that we can't repay is how a country is supposed to be run? 14 trillion in debt is not enough for you? Do you realize that every man, woman and child is responsible for $46,000. If a child is born right now, they are born into $46,000 in debt. Is that the America you want to continue promoting. A country needs to run on a balanced budget, do you not understand that?
@TheTruthHurts732 No it doesn't and you don't understand that our debt is a LONG TERM PROBLEM. It's not something that will be solved tomorrow, and you will only make it WORSE by trying to pay it off during a deep recession while unemployment is high and interest rates are near 0 - because those cuts will further depress the economy.
Believe it or not, the economy does not work like your checkbook.
First of all, I am fully aware that it is a long term problem, which is why the voters spoke out last November, to start fixing it now. BTW you're line of thinking, is exactly the reason why countries around the world are meeting to rid the dollar as the world reserve currency. Look up Joseph Stiglitz, who spoke at Bretton Woods, where all of the major players are, including people like Soros. Why is the dollar down against major currencies? Why is there a lack of confidence in the US?
@TheTruthHurts732 Why is there a lack of confidence in the U.S.? Maybe because part of its government is now run by a bunch of rabid teabaggers who celebrate ignorance and are willing to hold the country's solvency (i.e. the debt ceiling) hostage in order to pass a conservative social agenda while at the same time ruining a fragile recovery with dumb, short sighted cuts to federal spending.
Why don't you have Obama keep to his campaign promises and end the wars and bring the troops home? That would free up some money, wouldn't it? Instead, Obama has accelerated drone attacks in Pakistan, added 50,000 troops to Afghanistan, added troops to Iraq and started a war with Libya. What we need is a stand up President who will stop US imperialism and cut military spending. If we did that we wouldn't need to raise the debt ceiling 1 cent. You need to change your perspective.
@TheTruthHurts732 Unfortunately, even if we did stop U.S. "imperialism" we would still have 14 trillion dollar deficit and a huge debt. The issue is that it is a long term problem. Not one that requires us to cut our nose off to spite our face.
And by the way, I'm not sure which election you were watching, or witch primary, but Obama promised to escalate Afghanistan. In fact, both Obama and Hillary promised that, with Hillary making a vague comment about using nukes.
Folks, wake up. Did the Bush/Cheney tax cuts create jobs? The rich just pocket their money and buy yachts. The republicans in congress are just catering to their already duped christian base on this planned parenthood thing. It's a drop in the bucket..
Well this is obvious that we should furlough the military that's fighting three wars so that we can prevent women from receiving planning on parenthood.
Thought it was already illegal for the Fed to finance an abortion ... so not sure what his first argument is. And not quite sure how cutting Title X spending creates a job. I guess if anything one could logically conclude there would be fewer women getting affordable access to various health services and therefore the health industry may have to shed a few jobs as a direct result of some lost revenue. But maybe I'm going too far ...
When will America wake up? The Republicans and their "Robber Baron" corporate masters want to return us to the good old days when OSHA, The Fair Labor Standards Act, and environmental protection laws didn't exist. Then they won't have to move jobs to the third world as it will be here.
Wait... what?? Did he just say abortion "never has" been taxpayer-funded? So... WHAT exactly are you trying to cut then???? If the tax dollars going to PP DON'T fund abortions at the moment, what's the problem?
@whoo689 The real bloat is not really the wars but the unnecessary military. Do we really need those stealth bombers or F16s or another carrier or a dozen spy satellites? Permanently releasing 50% our soldiers would solve the deficit.
@cagedtigersteve It's not even the soldiers that are costing the real money. It's the private contractors. When I first joined the Marine Corps, you might be given an MOS (job) as cook, and actually learn to cook for large numbers of Marines and have a skill to market if you left the Marines. Today that is all taken care of by a private contractor who gets paid MORE than Marine cook. It's costing the military more money, but yet, Republican ideology blinds them to this fact.
@shalcall They are not blind to that, it is all about corporitizing the economy to the highest degree possible. Even a traditional right-wing darling like the military is not immune from their desire to shift government money to the corporations.
@shalcall And it doesn't end there. Much of the equipment used by the military now is only serviced or maintained by the contractors themselves, with the servicemen left in the dark for anything beyond the most basic operation.
Not only is it costing MORE money, but it's a deplorable security risk to the Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, and US Citizens.
@shalcall sooooo true the reason they don't want to defund the military budget the contracts are tied to the purse and i'm sure most of these idiots are connected and making money of them..Blackwater KBR.ect...This is why republicans followers are sheep..They let Bush run crazy destroying this country and they sat IDOL..NOW they are all up in arms about OBAMA.....
So... to create jobs, they need to do it on the backs of WOMEN?? Cutting essential women's health and reproductive services (abortion is only a tiny fraction of their funding) just to 'create jobs'?? Wow... Says all you need to know about the GOP mentality.
God, these people are EMBARRASSING to this country!
Republicans and the Tea Party are really pissed off about pap smears...thats their problem. There is already laws that say Fed dollars can't be used for abortion. They even put it in the health care plan as a redundancy. So it has to be the pap smears that has them all up in arms. Why do they hate pap smears...I don't get it. It can't be the cost, hell the cost is so little compared to the tax cuts, it has to be the pap smears.
I think the collective intelligence of the 40 or so people standing there is about equal to the intelligence of a bottle of pop. They all look like a bunch of morons and the one speaking confirms he is....
Hey Everyone! The Hyde Amendment already prohibits government spending on abortion! There is NO Federal funding for abortions! Now that we have that out of the way.. Funding for PP or NPR is a half a drop in the bucket when it comes to the deficit. Republicans will not touch military spending (no waste there!! Plenty of campaign donations though) or closing corporate tax loopholes that encourage outsourcing and allow major corporations like GE to avoid paying ANY taxes.
@fittergal They are stupid. The few of them who are not, lie. This guy was told what to say whether it was true or not. Fascism must be built on falsehoods, and these guys are fascists.
@fittergal They know they are lying but their uneducated, Teabagging voters obviously do not know that. Who else would the comments be directed towards?
OK lets see if they cut Planned Parenthood Centers where Real People WORK every day, And Then Deny care to those who need it at that center this will somehow magically create Jobs ? Shazam Gomer !!! TURDS republicans are all Turds
@tehcexymeowmix The US government doesn't. Abortions provided by planed parenthood are funded by donations. The money goes to condom distribution, prenatal health care and other services provided by them.
@tehcexymeowmix The government doesn't fund abortion--that's a lie promoted by those who would close planned parenthood--the vast majority of their services are not abortion related. BTW something doesn't have to be written in the Constitution to be funded--farm subsidies, for example.
this is ALL about the GOP's WAR on Women, and this guy isnt a frosh...hes one of the middle aged white guys butting into womens health to attract some nutters vote in some biblebelt somewhere...
The government is about to come to a screeching halt (which, btw, means our troops don't get paid), and this is what they're digging in their heels about.
You know, more than 40 cents of EVERY tax dollar we pay goes to the pentagon. why not cut some of that out, rather than focusing on cutting social programs (which only hurts the lower and middle classes)?
She somebody clue this frosh in to the fact that title X already prohibits the use of federal dollars for abortion services. There is no more-moot point out there at the moment. Just come out and say you don't like clinics that give free cancer screens to poor people. I'd at last respect the honesty.
Yeah, like the Bush tax cuts were supposed to grow jobs but left our economy in shambles. How any thinking non rich person can bring themselves to vote republican is beyond belief.
A district in Georgia voted for this twerp how many times?! What's the average IQ in that district? 50? I'm imagining most of the rest of the state is ashamed to be connected to that district. This guy defintely gives the state a bad name.
Cutting funding for Planned Parenthood will create jobs in the corrections industry. Being born into abject poverty is almost always a one way ticket to the big house. Crime rates dropped dramatically within 20 years of legalized abortion. I prefer birth control and education to abortion but the uptight right wing types are afraid if people have access to birth control they will have sex. People will always have sex, they need options not ignorance.
The guy speaking ins't a Freshman. He's from Georgia. I forget his name, but he's missing his usual mustache. Colbert "Van-Dyked" him in his "better know a district" segment.
This is unacceptable. Pulling out a 40 year debate (legally challenged numerous times; yet, still it stands as the law of the land) and insisting it be settled (in your favor) prior to "tackling" the 2011 budget is not only negligent, but an obvious ploy to bring about the kind of "emergency" the GOP loves to generate in order to lather up the citizenry so they lose sight of what matters most. They used this trick to bring us the likes of The Patriot Act & Bush's Bailout Bonanza for banksters.
Principal??? 1st Plan Parenthood is not just abortions 2nd don't tell me you care about life while you are ok on spending billions on bullets and bombs.....hypocrite assholes...... how about all of u douches standing there take the pay cut instead....oh that is right u need to it. Bunch of corrupt assholes....just because u make laws up as you go doesn't mean u are not corrupt.
Republican tax cuts for the rich, big oil, pharmaceutical, and other multinational conglomerates, unfunded wars and deregulating Wall St financial markets created 20 million lost jobs, trillions in debt and deficits. Republicans then turned their catastrophe over to the president but they've continued their assault on the poor and middle class. They're continuing to fight for lower wages and benefits, cutting education, clean air and water regulations, infrastructure spending, and health care.
No wonder the libtards are so misinformed and running around making new laws.
Dr. Gingrey is a 4 term Congressman and former School Board Chairman, he is not handicapped. He is a leader in his party, which like the Democratic Party, works for the best interest of their respective party - not the people.
@jag10 just because ur the leader of the retards doesn't make you smart....it juts makes u less retarded than most of them. .........and ow the fuck u serve 4 terms and still cant figure out how to do cutes correctly??? A mom with family of 4 and a calculator could do that shit .
@jag10 Democratic Party represents middle class and poor. Republican Party represents ... Koch brothers and Bible thumpers. So ...they do work for the best interest of their people.
@cooliorobert - Gingrey is a dentist, I believe. Loaded, highly educated, and very clever with his presentation. I wonder how he finagled this speech representing junior GOP representatives? A FOX broadcast?
Planned Parenthood rider is about appeasing their base. If the GOP really cared about funding to PPFA they would have cut them off when Bush was president. The Republican congress did nothing to stop funding for them when they were the majority. They are only doing this to keep their pro-life base happy and to keep them voting for the GOP. Tax cuts to corporations are what are important to the GOP not pro-life issues. GOP are using you pro-life ppl.
@texkit1 "Tax cuts to corporations are what are important to the GOP not pro-life issues. "
FTW! That is exactly what they're doing. The GOP will never outlaw abortion because it removes a hot button issue from their platform. Same goes for the Dem's and outlawing guns.
Tax cuts to corporations huh? Are you too stupid to realize that corporations dont pay taxes, they pass them on to customers you idiot, if they didnt they would go out of business. Also the US has the highest corp taxes in the world, thats why jobs go overseas.
@jjrglobal Corporations do pay taxes. They are at liberty to raise their prices and pass those costs on to consumers--at the risk of losing market share. It's called supply and demand. Why would they go out of business? Are you saying they are barely getting by as it is? Maybe that tax could be paid out of the record profits and massive salaries that executives pay themselves. The tax rate makes litte difference when many corporations pay little or no tax.
Why in the world would they lose market share? Their competitors have to pay the same tax increase and would therefore raise the price of their goods and services the same amount as everyone else. What I'm saying is that if companies don't account for increases in the cost of production, whether it be raw materials, labor or taxes, they will go out of business. Also, CEO's of publicly traded companies DO NOT set their salaries. Do you know why most corp. dont pay taxes?
Create more wealth.....Defund the churches, make them pay their taxes. See how they like it

if these people think that the money that the government gives to P.P. go towards abortion then they RECOGNIZE THAT THE MONEY THAT THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE THAT CAME FROM OUT OF THE COUNTRY WENT DIRECTLY TOWARDS FUNDING POLITICAL ADS. republicans must think that what the C.o.C. did was illegal and that it should be shut the fuck down.

GOP holding the people hostage over funding for abortion is so absurd since it has been illegal for the government to fund abortions for a very long time. Boner agreed to Obama's budget last night at about 39 billion too! 3.5 hours left until shut down.

Ask a Republican how cutting spending grows jobs when we already have high unemployment and see the contortions begin.
shalcall 10 months ago 3
@shalcall
TheTruthHurts732 10 months ago
@TheTruthHurts732 No it doesn't and you don't understand that our debt is a LONG TERM PROBLEM. It's not something that will be solved tomorrow, and you will only make it WORSE by trying to pay it off during a deep recession while unemployment is high and interest rates are near 0 - because those cuts will further depress the economy.
Believe it or not, the economy does not work like your checkbook.
shalcall 10 months ago
@shalcall
TheTruthHurts732 10 months ago
@TheTruthHurts732 Why is there a lack of confidence in the U.S.? Maybe because part of its government is now run by a bunch of rabid teabaggers who celebrate ignorance and are willing to hold the country's solvency (i.e. the debt ceiling) hostage in order to pass a conservative social agenda while at the same time ruining a fragile recovery with dumb, short sighted cuts to federal spending.
Maybe that's why.
shalcall 10 months ago
@shalcall
TheTruthHurts732 10 months ago
@TheTruthHurts732 Unfortunately, even if we did stop U.S. "imperialism" we would still have 14 trillion dollar deficit and a huge debt. The issue is that it is a long term problem. Not one that requires us to cut our nose off to spite our face.
And by the way, I'm not sure which election you were watching, or witch primary, but Obama promised to escalate Afghanistan. In fact, both Obama and Hillary promised that, with Hillary making a vague comment about using nukes.

But maybe I'm going too far ...
dylanw26 10 months ago 2
When will America wake up? The Republicans and their "Robber Baron" corporate masters want to return us to the good old days when OSHA, The Fair Labor Standards Act, and environmental protection laws didn't exist. Then they won't have to move jobs to the third world as it will be here.

whoo689 10 months ago 3
@whoo689 The real bloat is not really the wars but the unnecessary military. Do we really need those stealth bombers or F16s or another carrier or a dozen spy satellites? Permanently releasing 50% our soldiers would solve the deficit.
cagedtigersteve 10 months ago 2
@cagedtigersteve It's not even the soldiers that are costing the real money. It's the private contractors. When I first joined the Marine Corps, you might be given an MOS (job) as cook, and actually learn to cook for large numbers of Marines and have a skill to market if you left the Marines. Today that is all taken care of by a private contractor who gets paid MORE than Marine cook. It's costing the military more money, but yet, Republican ideology blinds them to this fact.
shalcall 10 months ago 13
@shalcall They are not blind to that, it is all about corporitizing the economy to the highest degree possible. Even a traditional right-wing darling like the military is not immune from their desire to shift government money to the corporations.
edgwaterprog 10 months ago
@shalcall And it doesn't end there. Much of the equipment used by the military now is only serviced or maintained by the contractors themselves, with the servicemen left in the dark for anything beyond the most basic operation.
Not only is it costing MORE money, but it's a deplorable security risk to the Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, and US Citizens.
SevenSixTwoNato 10 months ago
@shalcall sooooo true the reason they don't want to defund the military budget the contracts are tied to the purse and i'm sure most of these idiots are connected and making money of them..Blackwater KBR.ect...This is why republicans followers are sheep..They let Bush run crazy destroying this country and they sat IDOL..NOW they are all up in arms about OBAMA.....

tehcexymeowmix 10 months ago
@tehcexymeowmix The US government doesn't. Abortions provided by planed parenthood are funded by donations. The money goes to condom distribution, prenatal health care and other services provided by them.
3ssay 10 months ago 3
@tehcexymeowmix The government doesn't fund abortion--that's a lie promoted by those who would close planned parenthood--the vast majority of their services are not abortion related. BTW something doesn't have to be written in the Constitution to be funded--farm subsidies, for example.

GOP are using you pro-life ppl.
texkit1 10 months ago 2
@texkit1 "Tax cuts to corporations are what are important to the GOP not pro-life issues. "

kaysandesses 10 months ago
@kaysandesses
Tax cuts to corporations huh? Are you too stupid to realize that corporations dont pay taxes, they pass them on to customers you idiot, if they didnt they would go out of business. Also the US has the highest corp taxes in the world, thats why jobs go overseas.
jjrglobal 10 months ago
@jjrglobal Corporations do pay taxes. They are at liberty to raise their prices and pass those costs on to consumers--at the risk of losing market share. It's called supply and demand. Why would they go out of business? Are you saying they are barely getting by as it is? Maybe that tax could be paid out of the record profits and massive salaries that executives pay themselves. The tax rate makes litte difference when many corporations pay little or no tax.
BiffWhitebread13 10 months ago
@BiffWhitebread13
