Hey this is good stuff. I guess you listen to miles a lot. and mainly play my ear. Both good qualities. You also have a good sound. Little bit of jazz vibrato at the end of long notes and you'll be set.
You did run out ideas (and tone) towards the end, but that's understandable. You need to get out there and do more playing in clubs and pubs etc.
Not bad at all. i guess you have been playing for some time 'cos you have a nice rounded tone. I also guess you listen to Miles a lot :) I also guess you mainly play by ear. So all in all good stuff!
i'm learning jazz right now and I am using the Real Book, so i looked up this song so i could hear how it sounds. and this is great! thank you! I'm learning as well. THIS IS THE BEST MUSIC BRO!
Wonderfull sound. Good impro. This is no attemp, its soloing. Maybe you should work in your rhythm, a times it was a bit off. . Also, try playing more around the arpeggios, the chord tones and then take it from there, adding passing tones, scales, etc. I think that way you can gain total control of your playing. You can also practice starting and ending phrases in all the beats, 1, 2, 3, and the up beats. This will make your phrases less predictable. Very nice playing
I understand you ... and I understand when you say 'not false modesty' ... that's becvause result does not always = conception. However, you are young and have plenty of time to fine tune your playing. What I admire greatly is your mature conception and the way you naturally resolve the phrases ... that's pleasing to the ear ... as is your unobtrusive tone . Keep posting
you dont need all these opinions but i know we all like them but u know how to play keep doin what u doin then listen to nick payton and leroy jones and see the new diminsion your playin takes after u study people who know real triditional jazz . hope to meet u in neworleans one day also dont forget to listen to wendell brunious
dude i like it. playing is nice. couple of missed notes. overall i like it. ur sole could be a little more consistent, not nocking u at all. just when u get an idea go with it. one phrase u did u build a climax, but u stopped witht the thought. keep goin. when ur building get me there. i like it thought u play very well.
I just saw back in my chair and relaxed. That was so cleansing to say the least. Your tone is one handed down for the gods, personally. I really hope you record more of the slow blues, for everyones sake!
Very nice tone, overall It was a beautiful rendition. You seem to have a little problem with some consistency with the higher notes. Try tightening the gut other that the lips. It is a method that i use and it helps a great deal if your lips are getting a little tired. Then again you blow me out of the water with that tone.
Dude this is just sweet man. I wish I could play like this and hoping I can work my way to it. I've only been playing for 5 years, and currently a junior in highschool and I was wondering if you could give me a few pointers to help me keep going. I really love playing but can't get past what seems like a wall in my playing. So advice? Please and thank you.
Man dont worry! Trumpet is a jealous lover! You can't forget her or do too much other things (if you want to be part of the good one!!... i dont lol) Just keep practising but first of all, listen, listen and listen to trumpet players!
you hit some really cool spots in the changes, atleast in the first chorus i noticed some relly nice phrases... it seems like you're having trouble still making the changes come together, don't know if you get me....the 4th/5th chorus you kind of broke out and has some nice melodic stuff going down.... you should work on 2-5-1 lines...and work those through
Thats the way musicians are... i guess... i know my lakes, i know jazz trumpet, and i know that i'm very far from what i dream to be! But close enough to take pleasure with my instrument.
dog you play great. stop saying this is your attempt cuz that looks like you ainto got no confidence in yourself. just close your eyes and feel the music cuz you can really play good dog. keep em coming i love your stuff, and the hair looks great too
I try not to have too much vibrato in my sound. I like when i have a pretty straight one. (my former trumpet teacher hated vibrato... classical trumpet teacher, and i keep a bit of that in my play... even if it was more than 10 years ago, i remember this advice lol)
you have a warm and very nice sound and i like that.. you have interesting ideas.. I learn jazz for 2 years on my own, how long have you been playing?? aaron from hungary
Hey, man. GREAT TONE! You're doing very well, just keep practicing like the rest of us! :-) But, some very nice ideas in your soloing, nice phrasing. What kind of trumpet and mouthpiece are you using? You're getting a nice, warm, mellow sound ... perfect for many types of jazz. Keep it up!!! Good luck!!!
That was really cool man. I'm a guitarist so listen to my advice as much as you feel you want to. Love your tone man, and your feel is wonderful to listen to. I'd like to hear some more outside stuff - little flashes to kind of mess up my ear a bit every now and again when the moment takes you; and also a few more places of intensity: maybe aggression, emphasis - whatever it may be, but something hard and brilliant sounding. Where are you from by the way?
your endurance is great, and you are quite talented. you only need more speed or should I say mobility, but that you will gain by time if you be hardworking. don't worry, I think you're on right way!
It`s great! The only advice would be to practice playing eight-notes a lot, you should be able to play them over a long period of time...
And maybe playing a lot of pedal-tones would help you increase your range.
