  • the artist is the band/trio Hot Banditoz , as repeated during the song.

  • whoah,!yeah!!mayat ah..

  • i love it...

  • puro kayo culture ken tradition. the most important thing to show the world is that we are honest, hardworking, etc people. han nga jay makitkita datayo nga agtatakaw, pumatay ken anya pay dita. did our gongs and dances prevented that? han lang nga tradition and culture isuro tayo ngem values kadagiti agtutubo.. ada inar-aramid yo kasjay?

  • c'mmon guys! be broad minded..this is all what we call art and being creative, that means that our native dance can also be dance with modern music.i don't find it offensive...nor an insult..there's also another video with same song but the comments are totally different from this one.anyway..i do respect each one's opinion.i know our culture is very important to us but that doesn't mean that we must be radical.

  • Kabsat, this is not about being creative, this is all about the preservation and survival of our Culture and tradition. You know why other cultures are flourishing? It's because they fight to preserve them as they are. Can you imagine if Acusana messed up with a muslim traditional dance and song, a fatwa would have been swiftly issued against him and he would be a dead meat in less than a month from posting this video, do you get the point?

  • being concern to our culture is not being radical in the sense okay. and accepting this is not being openminded, where's your identity in doing this. wake up girl

  • Acusana, how can you explain to other people who has no idea about us Igorots that this is our native dance and part of our Culture & Tradition? Why do you hate our Gongs so much you replaced them with modern-retro music? I suggest you leave Philippines for a while to appreciate our own Gongs. Didn't you notice our dance look silly when paired with those songs or any song for that matter? Pls. be enlightened before our ancestors confront you for final reckoning. No adi ka mamati, ugad ka.

  • the background is alright, it fits the dance hahaha funny..No need to argue bout it.. We know in our hearts that our culture and tradition is still within us.

  • You got it right, sister, "ha ha ha funny." That's exactly what this video conveys to the viewers specially to those who has not a bit of an idea about my culture. I'm greatly offended because my gongs and dances are not funny at all.

  • yes we know that our culture is within us but this thing if we keep doing this kind of thing our culture will just degrade and vanished. pls. respect our culture and tradition gongs are better than that retro-music. doing this kind of thing you are not one of us our culture is not laughing stock at all. pls. change this while you have time

  • From a second gen Igorot in the USA. This is whack, take it down. What were you thinking?

  • Straight english, dude, let us all understand what you mean. I appreciate though your concen about the degradation of our native dance. Please exert some effot to keep our real and original gong and dance alive. Please learn to play the gongs and the dance and keep them close to your hearts. Matagotago tako amin!

  • wgacusana, this is awful. It is an insult to the Lang-ay and to us Igorots. Please find time to remove this in your posting. I just want you to know that many are angered by this and I assure you they will not stop until this is removed. Iyaman.

  • really bad editing. very disrespectful. tsk tsk.

  • ha, ha, ha, pinapatawa nio ako sa ginawa nio d2 a.anung klase yan!!ha ha ha ewan ko lang tlaga parang cartoons!!

  • Some unsolicited advice: If you want to modernize Igorot Gongs & Dances put it in HD and 5.1 sorround sound in that way other cultures will appreciate it better. Trust me western cultures have a lot of use & throw music than they can handle. This is the last thing they want to hear from us.

  • Para namang ininsulto culture natin. those dances are paired with (and only with) gongs.... this is mere stupidity

  • This is damn awesome! Uray no sabali ti background na ngem napintas piman daytoy. Whoever posted this has a great imagination. Some igorot kids who watched this with me appreciated it very much. They are now wanting to dance our dance. This will surely create an uproar but other igorots would appreciate it - being that the igorot dance fits in our musical genre!

  • woot astig ah....han met piman nga insult dyay....just a sudden surge of imagination...mayat mayat......try mo mt man nga ibagay ti hey mickey nyahahhahahaha...yzer

  • wgacusana, favor ked. Can u send me Joey Ayala's Ay, Ay Salidummay? Ung audio version nia, cos we need to dance sa cultural night but we don't have men to play the gongs. Please, please? Isend mo sina: layad (underscore) daph (at) hotmail (dot) com. Thanks!=)

  • Ahahaha.. U casued an uproar with this video! Anya ngay, sensitive issue gamin. Personally, I liked and enjoyed ur editing of the videos. It matched the music. Maybe try a different song, like I saw one with the same videos but the video editor used Joey Ayala's Ay, Ay Salidummay, which has gongs in it but mixed with contemporary musical instruments.

  • what do you mean JUST FOR ENTERNAINMENT...just what the hell are you trying to prove...

  • I would rather listen to the real gongs and native instruments than changing it to a disco music or whatever like this one, WGACUSANA. Should preserve the our culture rather than forgetting abt it. I am not from this prov but I appreciate other cultures.

  • Igorots have different gongs and dance patterns and are not interchangeable. Gongs and dances are inseparable, they tell a story. You cannot appreciate one without the other. You might just be trying to be creative but when you ripped the gongs out, you literally killed the beauty of the dance. You messed up on this one and you messed up real bad. Just let them be as simple as they are where we can really appreciate their true beauty.

  • I understand your point, but to be fair, we have another Lang-ay Festival on Youtube which is the original (the one with gongs.) I could not help but appreciate this because now I know that our igorot dances can fit in other musical genre. I bet the worldwide audience will appreciate this. This is not killing the beauty of the dance - this is simply enhancing it. In fact, there were a lot of modifications done in the original Lang-ay.

  • Which was enhanced the gong or the dance? ! The dance is the same, the music was replaced by some POP CULTURED, use and throw, MUSIC as opposed to the TRADITIONAL GONG part of IGOROT culture which was passed on from generation to generation. So what did you claim was enhanced? NOTHING!!! The gong was ruined and the dance as well.

  • Etabbac, look at those TAILORED G-string, skirts, BLOUSES, FAKE BEADS, 21ST CENTURY BOLOS AND GONGS ONLY PAINTED TO LOOK ANTIQUE, etc. etc...look at them looooooooong and hhhhhaaaaaard! and you know what I mean. I won't argue with you if your preference is the old practice, but respect me mine either.

  • Your all bent up, huh? Are we even talking on the same frequency here? I think you are confused between custom and costume. We are not discussing costumes here, are we? All I'm saying is that Igorot gongs & Dances should always go together if you really want to show a genuine Igorot Custom & Tradition.

  • By the way, those costumes are new of course. Do you expect to see 17th or 18th century G-strings today? New as they may be, they still convey the beauty of our Gongs & dances. Now, change the gongs with modern music, are you proud to claim it as part of an Igorot Culture? Think my Igorot brother or sister for that matter, think really hard.

  • Ettabac, I would be proud that people in some places could actually dance our dance to the tune of their metallic-rock or rap music. That's my attitude and you keep yours.

  • Etabbac, you're contradicting yourself here. Excuse me, if you really want the traditional dance and gongs then be traditional in everything including the customs. Don't even wear something tailored or fake beads, etc. If you can't do this, then accept that the only thing permanent is change and so accept the fact that somehow times have changed. And if you really wanna preserved our traditions and culture - go ahead and stop the digital world from spinning if you can!

  • I agree with roots1218 and Mikhailmitch, why did you changed the gong sound?Don't you know that OFW igorots are longing for their own culture and heritage?Like me,i missed our cultural dances and yet you are there destroying it.Maybe you don't meant to insult our culture but you have to respect it.

  • that' cool. you're such a creative person.... he he he

  • This is the igorot version of marc logan..Just for laugh!

  • hahhaha mayat met piman maibgay tupay hahhahaha

  • I hope igorots won't take this negatively. THis is a challenge to modernize igorot dances and not to criticize it. The dances have become so old that to preserve it, moves should be changed. Or else it would just become history.

We should face the reality that igorot dances are slowly deteriorating.

  • Of course its OLD that is why it is called CULTURE & TRADITION. And NO you cannot modernize CULTURE & TRADITION you PRESERVE it. Yes you can modernize your way of living if that is what you mean.

  • Yeah, and it is obviously seen that PRESERVING it has imposed a great challenge that most young igorots consider it not doing it. CULTURE AND TRADITION is fastly deteriorating in this modern world and when preserving it is impossible, then consider refining it.

  • Young Igorots don't appreciate our gong & dance as part of our Culture & Tradition either because they haven't been in touch with their Igorot roots early as a child or they have been taught the wrong ones like the subject of this discussion. Our gongs & dances are so refined. They were made perfect by our ancestors by doing it over and over again,as they were being passed on from generation to generation, not changing anything in it.

  • well we have different points of view. If that is what you think then fine, I do respect your opinion but I will stick to mine. In present, I am refining dances when we perform in order for younger people(highlanders, lowlanders and even foreign people alik) to appreciate the igorot art of gong playing. I do this because I observed that using the traditional style as taught by our 'old' ancestors, won't make young people appreciate our art.

  • I don't have problem seeing some new steps on the dance or some artistic play of the gong. But when you overhaul our beloved dance tradition by ripping off the gong and replacing it with some junk music, that is where I have a real big problem. I just hope WGACUSANA made this video just for the heck of it and not pass on to his children as THE Igorot tradition because if he does our Culture & Traditions will be doomed. Shame!

  • Etabbac, understand the evolution of things. Things do change according to times. Crude instruments in history became refined as years went by. Tell your family to play only the war dance after they do the war...may engka makitribal war ngarud si kanayon tapno majustify dayta war dance mo because you said we should not change anything. The fact that we do not want war is a BIG CHANGE! WE JUST WANT TO SEE AN EXAMPLE OF A WAR DANCE, BUT I WOULD NOT WANT TO PRESERVE THAT BRUTAL PRACTICE!

  • ???LOL, Did you even read the point of discussion here before you commented? I was advancing the principle that Igorot dances and gongs as part of our culture & tradition should always go together and neither should be paired with modern music & dances.

  • Strickly speaking, Tribal war is not a part of Igorot Tradition, it is just their way of settling their disputes. It is no different in wars of today. Hence, no race or tribe can claim war as part of their culture. Head hunting is part of Igorot tradition if that is what you mean, though this tradition was already lost. By the way you mentioned war dance, do you appreciate the war dance with gongs or war dance with modern music? I'm just curious, my Igorot breathren.

  • Etabbac, what nonsense are you up to? You're saying we should not lose our tradition and obviously there are some practices that are not favorable like the war dance and what you said as head hunting. Here you are saying that we should preserve our culture and tradition and so logic will tell yeah that you uphold these barbaric practices. You're all messed up , man. I appreciate our gongs but I also appreciate this modern song so fitting.

  • Etabbac, what the hell did you just say? That's what you think but I think otherwise. If you are in Tabbac, play the igorot gongs. If you are here in youtube, play the world's sounds! You seem to be delusional.

  • You're a conformist, man. You are lost in the crowd. This what I can tell u, I've been down south in Australia, been to parts of Europe and most here in North America. I've seen Igorot Communities play our Gongs & Dances the way they were supposed to be played and people out there of different cultural backgrounds appreciated it so much.

  • I suppose you are of the younger generation sporting baggy pants and slinging out ipods and iphones. I'm in my early thirties, the middle-aged generation so that might partly explain our different point of view because I cannot believe you are willing to shed off your cultural uniqueness just to conform to the world standard. Anyway, if your point of view makes you more proud to be an Igorot, good luck. I'll rest my case.

  • Etabbac, there is no point conversing to a brickwall

  • Relax kabsat, he is an Igorot brother nonetheless. On the side note, I noticed that you are located in Japan. I need a favor from you. Could you please check out the street price of Nikon D300 there. I want to know if I'm getting a good deal here before I purchase one. TY

  • No problem. Why don't you try Canon. I got the EOS 40D, superb!

  • Tried Canon before but Nikon felt just right for me, besides I already have Nikkor lenses & Nikon accessories. BTW I SM you my email ad where you can send the particulars, I'm done with this site, it is not the proper forum for this matter anyway. TY

  • Etabbac, I am not shedding off my culture and tradition - and all the more not willing. Listen, your day to day life will have to speak for who you really are. Do you use silap or wooden plates in your house? Do you cook with gangi? Do you use ligao, gangi, kuli, etc. Do you hang igorot stuff in your house? I'm a proud igorot! Hell, don't think you're the one only proud of our roots!

  • Etabbac, I beg to disagree. When some igorots danced the Tayaw in the East Coast with only their G-string, some of the spectators left. They would have probably stayed had the guys been considerate of the audience's sense of art. Oh yeah, we too attended a party in Melbourne Australia and the same thing - it was kinda boring but you know people are tolerant and understanding. So to me, we can go ahead and play the traditional and it's okay too to modify. No problem.

  • Bingo! "it's okay too to modify." At least we have some common ground here. I have no problem with some modifications to our Gongs & Dances. For instance it's OK to play Gongs and Dance with shirts and jeans on. In the case of the Pattong, it's OK to introduce different formation, or in Tayaw, it's OK if you raise your hands up, on your side, front, back or combinations of the aforesaid. The point is that the Gongs & Dances should always go together to compliment each other.

  • The video presentation of Mr. Wgacusana is not a modification of our Tradition but an overhaul. Now, I made my position as clear as possible. It's all up to you to make up yours. If it still OK with you to see our traditional dance paired with funky, retro modern music, then by all means promote it, but I have to defend my stand with passion.

  • The first time I viewed this Video, my blood just shoot up to my head. It was totally revolting. Everytime I visit this site to defend my position, my audio is off because everytime I hear it, I just can imagine our ancestors roll over from their graves and moaning in disgust. My work here is done. Over & out. Peace!

  • HEY GUYS, check this two people out... really good debate. It shows how Igorot people can talk in English in a very professional and intellectual way

  • Whoaa, ha, ha, ha. This is great! The change in music made me watch the video again and again. Not boring.

  • wgacusana, i for one wont agree of what u did for changing the gong sound into funky one.Our culture, our music is unique by itself. U might have intend to make it another unique one but for me, u distroy its uniqueness. U may edit/change other's music but not ours. No offence, just correction.

  • WGACUSANA< Your music SUCKS! Of all the music you could use, why such stupid one for a very traditional event. I think you really don't know much about US enough to respect our music.

Olay maid men upload is video adi nu kagtona abes nan maikababil. Hooo Asi asi ay!!!

  • i for one, like that music, i think he has no intension on insulting the culture, he/seh was trying to match the song and the play... nice work..

    gawis metlang met di ahhhh....

men buya tako metlang is teken ay version ta baken papapareho nan dedengen tako...

  • a warrior from deepest part of kaigorotan will come to hunt you, whoever posted this video clips...better put the original sounds before its too late for you..

  • I could have appreciated this video if your talent in video editing did not marginalize us, Igorots. Anyway, whoever you are WGACUSANA,I suggest you go back to grade 1 and learn your ethics once again.

  • fantasticooooooooo haha

  • kaninya!!!! eh pano maaapreciate ng hindi igorot the sound of gongs eh pinalitan naman na ung sound this is insult to us igorots....

  • easy there sister... personally, i don't think it is insulting...whatever, the intensions of wgacusana was, i think the video (without the sounds) speak for itself. the sound just make it more funky.

it's is like watching mark logan's show.

it's a good way of promoting mt province.

if i may add, if i was a non-igorot, i would not watch the whole video if all i could hear is the sound of gongs.

  • ganun... whatever if that's your idea then no comment

  • myat a!!jeee i want to watch that.. ung live tlaga...

    katnu t nx nga fest??

  • lang-ay festival is a whole week celebration for the first week of april... come and visit mountain province for a whole week of cultural presentations and celebration..=)
