when i was young i was in awe of this lyrical song ,now i'm old i'm even more in awe, thats how i feel about his ,influence, his ability to write , and tell the story how it is ,go old coyote go, ,this man knew how to handle total fame in his 20s , do yu think he's wise now , i think so , this version is from 40 years on the road
@Riley1831 Hey, this was 16 years ago. He could at least still carry out a tune then. Listen to his performance at the Grammy Awards earlier this year and you'll know what I mean.
he sounds so damn bad in this performance. and this was in 1995! imagine him now! Too bad because I really like the original song. hahahaha i can't stop laughing it is just so fucking bad.
@mrmotownmadness89 I donno man, I think it sounds awesome. When you sing that song as many times as he has, you have to switch it up... it's just sung to a different rhythm.
@erdmaingue i was at that show. i bought my tickets last minute after work for the municipal auditorium show and i dont recall him pulling the guitar out once...
People can say whatever they want to. Every time the man plays a song he wrote, there's something magical going on. Even if the song falls apart in places or he goes off on his own journey in the way he interprets it. It's still magical. He's a real artist and we ain't got many of them around these days.
I don't consider him a god or prophet or I don't even see myself as a 'fan', but I sometimes realize in astonishment that I'm living at the same time as the greatest singer/songwriter ever. I can't believe he's around--the fact that he still writes fresh songs that can make me cry and remember a Keats poem. I'm amazed that someone with his status can still connect to my problems and my heart. He's never cut himself off from the world, and that is why he can write 'Highlands" even now.
@jakerose246 I'm officially calling you crazy. ;) You can watch his picking and hear what he's doing. Example, watch his hand and listen to the note being played at 2:30. He's playing and he's coming through loud and clear.
I think that this live version is the best version of "Like a rolling stone" except the original one. A keyboard player reproduced Al Cooper's hammond organ's sound greatly. Also, I always like Dylan's original style guitar play. For me, he developed his only guitar play seemingly.
BADASS AND BEAUTIFUL

I can't believe he lost his voice in such a short time- from then to now it's been disappearing.
I live how he sounded like his old self at 4:34 though.

Call me a crazy, or a cynic, but is Bob's guitar not plugged in or mic'd? I think he's just holding it for the heck of it.

@jakerose246 Yeah dude, you can hear him doing random riffs in certain spots. Especially at the end of the song.
