also ich bin deutsche und lebe seit fast zwei jahren in schweden, midsommar sieht tatsächlich so aus. natürlich nicht so dreckig und bei weitem nicht so "assi", aber im großen und ganzen läuft es so ab. und es macht tierisch spaß.

ich hab die werbung meinem schwedischen freund gezeigt und der fands auch witzig. die lästern und verunglimpfen uns deutsche genauso, wie oft ich mir hitler witze anhöre. ist doch alles dasselbe ;)

First of all. The traditional costumes in the video does of course exist. They're called "folkdräkter", this kind of costumes exists in most of the European countries.

The dancing part is for real. No to that kind of crappy music though but to traditional songs and yes, we do dance around the "midsommarstång" like that. Well at least almost. Haha!

The dining part is where it gets really awful. Swedes are good at drinking alcohol, that's true, but we're only on fifth place in European statistics when it comes to how much we drink when we party. Midsummer is when most of us snaps (or aquavit if you'd so like). There are lots of old Swedish brands and you drink it as shots. The traditional midsummer food usually consists of potatoes, pickled herring, dill, eggs, caviar, salmon in different ways and lots of other typically Swedish dishes.
