Unfollowable. It's a new word I've created because I just simply do not want to play any other track after this, they just seem insignificant and mediocre and I end up going to bed unsatisfied. Suggestions welcome.
Ok..Lets just get this straight....You guys are fucking spectacular....this song is my new #1 and what kind of suffering does a person have to endure to have voice with so much soul?
You see people in the 90's were saying music died in 1969. I remember in the year 2000ish people saying that music died in 1979, now people are saying anything post 1980's is rubbish. Music isn't dead, there has always been shit music and there has always been brilliant music and a lot in between. We just remember the good and forget the rest and compare it to modern standards with a retarded and distorted view of the past. Nostalgia killed the radio star.
all i have to say is frikin isis this type of music will never die there will allways be thirst for all metal and this my friend is metalat its greatest
I was born after 1984, in fact, 1985 and I like this!!! I am always looking for music to be new and unexpected like this...and Silversun Pickups...and Hollywood Undead. Hate me, love me... I love them both!!!!
I'm 47. most of my friends haven't bought any music since 1990. There's tons of great new music out there but it doesn't touch you if you've stopped trying
in the end no one can say that music died at a certain time, its just a perspective your personal preference. black mountain does remind me of some guitar from joplin and cream at times, its just what it is and they sound very good.
like this? check out their new song "old fangs" on their website for free. sounds like another great one by black mountain. the album drops in september.
Black Mountain is really one of the greatest bands coming out in recent years. They can do great simple songs as also working on more extended forms with great mastery
Black Mountain is really one of the greatest bands coming out in recent years. They can do great simple songs as also working on more extended forms with great mastery
if nothing else rock music has evolved. some good some bad and some great. i will never turn my back on good music. some ppl get stuck in an era which only hurts them...they are truly missing out.
I'm seeing Black Mountain at the Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver on October 31st. It's going to be a trippy and an eerie evening on Halloween night with this amazing band. And Bison b.c. are opening. The Vancouver music scene is producing some amazing bands lately.
As a Canadian living in the UK, following the British Psych Folk revival & bearing witness to the beauty coming out of California, I get more & more excited because the world has no idea what's starting to come out of Canada. There's something in the Canadian landscape that makes for eerily good Psychedelia. I can't wait to see the equivalent of the Green Man Festival in Canada. This is only the beginning.
@Ursamare Hey man, i agree with you soo much i am from the states but i must say a lot of bands from canada i am falling in love with something about it makes it unique and special, p.s i don't understand why many people hate on canada i think its a gorgeous and beautiful place. i want to move up there some day well cheers bro/ or ma'am
@Ominous09 As a former american now in canada i gotta say that Canada is what the U.S should of aspired to be! the u.s has lost its way and has succumbed to greed, corporations, war and idol worship....truly sad. I only hope the conservatives here in canada lose power! canada is a truly great nation with great artists! The U.S doesn't even come close!
@wakaw07 As an American I agree with you. It seems that part of being American these days is hatred to your fellow Americans (except if they are military) and hatred of all other countries but your own. It just doesn't make sense here anymore. For those who say move, trust me, if I could get a visa to live and work in Canada, France, Denmark etc.., I would be on the 1st plane with a one way ticket.
@Ursamare Man i totally agree. The music scene in the valley where i live is starting to resemble that. If you wanna hear some more psych rock check out Fanaticus.
this band is really amazing. i heard them on the radio of a local high school yesterday, and now i am really interested in them. thanx for posting this video.
check out a film called "carts of darkness" it's a damned fine film about canadian homeless drinkin guys, made by a wheelchair dude. these guys do the closing music for it, that's where i heard them 1st (about 10 minutes ago). interesting band
This is a great song about drug abuse on the east side in Vancouver, where the band is from. Stephen McBean, he lead singer, is heavily involved in drug-rehabilitation and counseling the homeless. The sign in the beginning of the video is the Balmoral - a crap hole of a bar in East Van.
Black Mountain is pretty much the greatest band ever. If you like them, I suggest you check out Pink Mountain Tops, and Jerk With a Bomb - They're also McBean bands (Same singer)
i randomly fell upon this band...this song blew my mind...so good ...so smooth..it flows...and the ending is ammmaaazzing!! beautiful! def one of the best bands of these days in my books...real music.
i seriously like this. i only wish they did not look so late 70s hippy. it would make it seem more all the more contemporary, in merit, .. if that makes sense.
having said that their videos are awesome. Wucan especially.
music died in like, 1972, fuck 70's rock...when jimi, jimi, and janis died, music went along with it, until dead meadow and white stripes raised soul from tha dead
im afraid music didnt die maybe u just stopped looking... no offence but all of the older generation people i no think rock died after 1980 well actually u all just stopped looking thats wat happened
@sn4ke0i1 well said, I believed that too. We did stop looking, but can you blame us..I mean going from Led Zeppelin to Humble Pie (("I Don't Need No Doctor, 30 Days In The Hole") (Steve Marriott!) powerful stuff, going from that to......Madonna and to the present..Lady Goofball..or I mean Gaga. But by us stop looking we missed bands like this one...Black Mountain..this vid and band gives us hope..Hell yeah...Long live Black Mountain!!
@sn4ke0i1 you're right, though the highest quantity of quality music has disapeared since about 1980 there are still great artists, such as these guys, radiohead, sublime, tom petty, nirvana, they are all just as talented as the older generations which i love but they have to be original they cant just be playing the same sounding music generation after generation.
@sn4ke0i1 I think when people say that they really mean that good music was popular before 1980. Back then people didn't really have to look for good music because the mainstream was the underground. From the 80's and there after popular music was shitty and you had to "look" for good music.
I’m totally agree with you. There is effervescence out there in the underground scene, there are so many pearls coming from the recent music. We are so lucky nowadays to have access, courtesy of internet, to this real treasury of humankind, in my opinion at least similar in range and quality with 70's golden age of music.
@sn4ke0i1 I agree. I'm "older" but I find new music every week. Rock hasnt died, there is great music out there...you just need to look a little deeper
@sn4ke0i1 I am glad there are occasional challenges thrown down to the olders. I lived through 30 years of classic rock and grew burnt. Now I look forward and embrace. I do learn from youngers. I embrace what they tout. I sift through and call some my own. I am very selective. Could learn a few and teach a few. Rock on to all !
@MsDarfg Hey, that post and the creation of my name were made years ago when I thought 1337 speak was cool. I've grown up a little and my grammar has improved. So don't be too mad at me.
i find them pretty unique...but i understand how not everyone would like the white strimpes...i find them pretty cool myself though...lots of dylan covers!
anyone who thinks they sound like zeppelin are crazy they sound like floyd or grandfunk railroad.listen to the progressive elements to the songs and the solos are purely progressive
o man, what u say is true !!!! I start to love this group , 'cause, they sound like a milion 60/70 groups, king crimson in first....what do you think about????
well honestly I think wejust thought another musical movement band of diverse musicians and styles was not possible.so we compare them to all those bands which is wrong.you cant compare them to something they arent just because you werent ready for them.this is BLACK MOUNTAIN and we all just have to get used to saying that.
According to BLACK MOUNTAIN, their influences are Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, which is exactly the three top ones I would have guessed. You can absolutely hear all of those elements', plus their own creativity's, influence on the music.
From my neck of the woods...great potential, Mcbean sounds a bit like Vedder, Amber adds a fantastic thread...lyrically a bit immature yet, but coming along, same with musically, sounds like a teenaged Sabbath in spots/some Zep, some Airplane. Huge potential though, bought their first two, can't wait for the next.
Found myself back in the 60/70ies with elements of Led Zeppelin, Joan Baez, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Far East Family Band, Pink Floyd, 13th Floor Elevator, Moody Blues, Jefferson Airplane, Ten Years After, Neil Young, Mamas and Papas, Steamhammer and more.
Such a band is a ray of hope, can alleviate some daily horror.
I just started listening to these guys... I'v always liked stoner rock but these guys have taken it to a much more trippy high ( or perhaps a "stormy high"?!) Very very goood !!
Well, yeah. Most 14-year-olds tend not to know shit about quality music. A couple of us are exceptions, but it sucks having your age group become synonymous with "shallow, immature taste in music."
Thanks to groups like this and Majic Ship it seems that wonderful rock music is around again; there's a lot of influences, not only musical, but the magic is that they seem quite young, while the influences come from times in which they were not still born. Great hopes for a New Generation's arrival...
Thanks for bothering to get in touch. To try to answer - I was born in 1941 so that means I was in my twenties throughout the 1960s and that means I don't have a clear memory of what it was like. This music does sound familiar though - and moves along very nicely. I'm sure you know what I mean.
all i can say is WOW! these guys are fuckin brilliant!

Such a band is a ray of hope, can alleviate some daily horror.
Thanks lyndsaysung for posting this !!

Well, yeah. Most 14-year-olds tend not to know shit about quality music. A couple of us are exceptions, but it sucks having your age group become synonymous with "shallow, immature taste in music."

im 27, and i think everybody got 14 one day, let us the time to search for some good band band in their future. 14 is fucking young
brunogogo 3 years ago
Thanks to groups like this and Majic Ship it seems that wonderful rock music is around again; there's a lot of influences, not only musical, but the magic is that they seem quite young, while the influences come from times in which they were not still born. Great hopes for a New Generation's arrival...

My brother saw these guys in LA last week, and hung out with the Black Crowes, who dig these guys.
I love them too.
Great song.

Watched this because of the 5/5 review in The Times. I'm 66 - closed my eyes and I was in my late twenties. Hmm.

welcome back to your 20's :-)(and? do you like being back)Indeed a great soounding band

Thanks for bothering to get in touch. To try to answer - I was born in 1941 so that means I was in my twenties throughout the 1960s and that means I don't have a clear memory of what it was like. This music does sound familiar though - and moves along very nicely. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Def feelin' the groove on these guys. Proud to be Canadian!
