  • FINALLY!!!! i now know how an afro looks wet

  • @caprand1 LOL <3

  • Just curious - what's your reason for conditioning, then deep conditioning? I've been just doing DCs after shampooing, but wonder now if I should be adding that extra step of regular conditioning prior to DC'ing.

  • I just love your vid, you are so detailed about things. Since I have found your channel I do like to see the different things that you do to your hair. Can't wait to see what you come up with next. God bless you.

Your awesome!.but back to my question lol on the shampoo :-)

  • this was very helpful for me...thanks and keep making great vids!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I really appreciate these educational videos that you take the time to produce. I am new to my natural hair and was not liking it at first but you have influenced my appreciation for it. I like your background music. It's appropriate and not overbearing to the point that my attention is on it instead of the video. This video has shown me why I have gotten the results I have. I have not been washing my hair correctly. I will never wash my hair the same again. THANKS!

  • girl i loooooove ur hair. i just wanna know if u texturized it and if yes, what texturizer did u use :)

  • You look soooo beautiful (as always) but especially here! Your make up was fab!

  • Whoa can we get a tut for that BANGIN hairstyle at the beginning of the tut? Where can I get the scarf and hairstyle. Goodness your skills have no limits!

  • It's soooo great to find someone else whose hair is as tightly coiled as mine. My hair is very long, but i have much shrinkage!! Thank you for you videos!!

  • I LOOOVVVEEE THT SCARF! magnif!!!

  • I have to try that Tresemme Conditioner because so many people have good reviews on it.

  • Shampoo defines my curls. :)

  • Another good deep conditioner is the pantane deep treatment for curly hair...you only have to leave it on for 5 minutes and you hair is soft and moisturized...the price is also great, only about 5 bucks. If you get a chance please try it out

  • Haven't seen your videos in a while and your hair has TRIPLED in growth, this works for you for sure! Great video!

  • That's some seriously epic music for daily haircare. lmao.

  • @Omritable lmaoooooooooo

  • This is exactly how I shampoo my hair. Yes it takes a long time but I have seen great results with this technique.

    Love your videos.

  • How can I tell what type of hair that I have

  • YOU ALWAYS HAVE GOOD VIDEOS, AND YOU HELPED PUSH ME THAT INCH I NEEDED TO GO NATURAL!!! THANK YOU!!

  • You described the smell of that Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus perfectly! I haven't used that shampoo yet but I have used the curl enhancing smoothie on a friend. I do use their shea butter version though. Thanks for this!

  • Very helpful video. How do you determine if you are going to deep condition or not. I do it once a week I wonder if that is too much.

  • The Shea Moisture Cocnut and Hibiscus Conditioning Milk is Great! I never tried the shampoo. My shampoo is Giovanni Triple Threat Tea Tree. Its more of a clarifying shampoo than anything and its also sulfate free

  • ok i will be trying this method on my lil girls hair i detangle in sections like that but not wash so i will give it a try

  • You only fingercomb? Do you use a wide tooth comb or denman?

  • Thanks for the tips. I'll have to try your method. Your hair looks so soft and manageable, the exact opposite of mine.

  • Great video - Thank you for doing this video. By the way, what style did you decide to do after. Do you have video for that style too? :)

  • really good demonstration - and your hair looks great; healthy and strong.

  • Total hair twin :)

  • I'm beggin' all of those with your hair type (cause it's mine-advice you to try this product once) to check out Terressentials Lavander Hair Mud (buy largest size-trust). This cleanser has no detergents, naturally detangles hair, and leaves hair soft, not needing any leave-ins or styling prods. I use my oil mixture of castor, olive, and jojoba then seal with shea butter. YOU WONT regret purchasing this prod. This prod is only for natural heads. C Naptural85 who intro'd me to the prod. Shot Out!

  • @anwalker3592 Where can I purchase it?

  • @anwalker3592 I tried the Lemon scented one and it tangled up my hair...but to be fair my hair hates bentonite clay. Back to co-washing :( I'll probably try the Lavender one sometime down the road, though...

  • you are gorgeous !!!! :) lol im jealous

  • Younique

Have you ever of tried the curl formers on your natural hair-If you so, please leave a tutorial telling us the results for 4a,b hair thanks!

  • Great vid. I also shampoo like this...except i don't leave the shampoo on each section. I try to just shampoo my scalp and try to avoid putting it directly on my ends, then I rinse before going to the next section. It helps retain moisture to me. Thanks for the vid!

  • SLT félicitation, tes cheveux sont très beau

  • Hi! Great vid. I just subscribed to this channel. Wonderful personality! My hair is quite similar to yours, but it is longer. I've seen this routine before, but you simplified it. Thank you so much! God bless!

  • I am going natural but I didn't do the big chop. I have short hair that was relaxed about four months ago. So if I did the BC my hair would be really short. I decided to do the knot outs. My hair comes out looking good but very dry looking. By day's end my hair is a dried curly mess. Most of the products I have tried to use have caused the relaxed hair to revert back to straight and then I have a total mess. What do you suggest to make my hair shiny but won't straighten the curls? Thanks

  • I use to wash my hair in sectons, then I noticed that I was having more hair loss in the shower. Detangle before washing and all you will need to do is wash your whole head at once. check out my vid i show how to do it step by step:)

  • I use the conditioner you used in this video. I was wondering why you like your hair mayonnaise better than the olive oil conditioner?

  • very good and thorough, thanks for sharing sis

  • I know the amount of hair left behind is different for everyone depending on how much breakage one has and how their life factors (stress, diet) affect their shedding, but do you think that you can show us how much hair is left behind after washing your hair in a upcoming video? Thanks in advance because I am hair a hard time trying to figure out what amount is somewhat normal.

  • wow your hair grew alot

  • Please let me know what color lipstick you are wearing.

  • Great video and thanks for your help during my transitioning to natural hair 3 months now will try shea moisture coconut and hibiscus curl and shine shampoo. I'm glad these hair products don't have no sulfate. Yeah! :)

  • how long have u been natural and is ur hair 4a?

  • Hello Gorgeous!! Question: How often do you wash? My hair texture is just like yours, but I sweat in my scalp and HATE musty scalp smells. Is twice a week too much for our texture?? Should I just stick to once a week and find a product to help my scalp?? Thanks Chica!!

  • @BlackBarbie86 I no this questions wasnt me but I think it depends on how long ur hair is. I know when my hair was short I washed it every 2to3 days. But now that its a bit longer once a week is better. If u dont use a lot of product on ur hair u can try just rinsing ur hair when u take a shower. Do big plait then let the water run over ur hair. u can also try using just conditioner to rinse ur hair also. U are the best judge though try it out if ur hair doesnt like it dont do it again.

  • What is with the action background music??? LMAO.... Love the videos..

  • thanks for sharing

  • I love your washing method. It's a very "green" way to save water.

I also love Tresemme Naturals. It has very nice slip.

Your hair is really getting longer!!

  • i love being natural, but the whole washing the hair routine is my least favorite part. especially at my current length. i look forward to the day my hair is long enough to do a wash & go ponytail.

  • I'm not sure what you consider "tightly coiled" but I've always considered you to have a more relaxed coil pattern. if you saw my hair wet you would see "tightly coiled" LOL. After washing, my hair is about an inch long, even though it's about 5-6 inches after being stretching with braids.

And don't worry about long videos, take as much time as you need:)

  • you're definitely right about that routine working for you; YOUR HAIR LOOKS GORGEOUS! you're an inspiration for so many of us. thanks!

  • Girl you know you make me want to get my "fly" back! LOL

  • like your vids, but the best thing is to actually use the hibiscus to wash your hair, thats why i love living the caribbean keep it up!

  • How often do you do this?

  • This vid made it to the 4th page today! Congrats!

  • I love this. Thanks so much I am going to try this. I would not have thought about conditioning so much at one time.

  • Love your vids!

  • i normally dont wash my hair like this but I found myself doing so this weekend because i needed to wash and my husband was taking up a bathroom and my daughter was in the other. plus i really did not want to leave me episode of basket ball wives so i washed in front of the tv. and since i was not standing in the shower doing this i had my water bottle and shampoo i really massaged more than i usually do because i was watching tv and not paying attention.

  • Your hair looks beautiful!

  • I love the fact you use regular products. I know a lot of naturals say use all natural products but my hair responds to the "hair drugs"! LOL even in its natural state. I wanted to try the shea moisture line but with my condition not sure. Keep the vids coming hun!!!!!

  • i love the hair with the infinity scarf!!

  • Love your videos Kerri! They are so informative and you have good ideas. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to try this washing/conditioning method.

  • Kerri, thank you for answering my questions. I am so looking forward to going natural. Cant wait to see what type hair I have. Thanks again and I love your videos.

  • THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO SO INFORMATIVE I TRIED THIS TECHNIQUE ON MY DAUGHTER WHO IS 5YEARS OLD NO DRAMA SO SO MUCH EASIER WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT THATS WHY WE NEED YOU THANKS AGAIN TONYA AKA MSBIGJAMES

  • @MsBigjames

    I am glad I could help. =)

  • i wash my hair like this too...it makes life so much easier

  • this scarf and bang in the beginning of the video is giving me LIFE!

  • @NiaSoPurdy

Lol... You are too funny... Thanks girl

  • @NiaSoPurdy Agreed! ^_^

  • I loooove shea moisture coconut&hibscus products!! I haven't tried the shampoo yet =( Also that hair mayo is the TRUTH!! Thanx for sharing!!

  • Also, I deep condition my hair every week due to my hair being color treated. It's worth it.

  • Kerri, I have the same exact routine...I wash and condition my hair the same exact way. It works for me and my hair has greatly thanked me for it. I used to use the ORS Replenishing Conditioner but now I actually love the Aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner...Love it!

  • @brnize1969

The Aussie 3 minute conditioner smells so good!

  • Thanks for sharing never thought about seperating my hair into sections. With my hair being so thick I can definitely get more coverage from my products. I will try this during my next wash. Right now I am transitioning.

  • @miyatasjohnson

I hope it works out for you =)

  • love the "300" "Gladiator" music...

  • I love how healthy your hair iS

  • Your method seems to save hair from excessive shedding during the washing, dentagling and condition process. It's a long process but an effective one for etremely tight coily hair....like mine but my hair makes me extremely lazy.

  • and I really like Giovanni Direct leave in!

  • i've been using that tressame conditioner I've never been an ingredient reader beyond looking for mineral or petroleum oil but it shocked me when I heard and then read it has actual Isopropyl Alcohol aka Rubbing Alcohol in it. I know many items contain chemicals that are used for a wide variety of products but that surprised me since the bottle is marked NATURAL but these manufacturers get away with so much when labeling these products.

  • All your hard work is why your hair is looking so healthy! I do all of what you do and then when I get out of the shower I spend even more time moisturizing and all that!

I just made a video of my pampering my hair. Check it out please!

  • @BlakIzBeautyful

I'll have to check it out. Thanks

  • OMG, I love your hair SO much. I have to admit, I never ever get jealous but when it comes to your hair, omg, I want it soooo much! It's so prettifull!

  • @chikibeeful

Thanks but your hair is amazing as well! =)

  • thanks for sharing. I am really interested in trying the Shea Moisture products. Unfortunately the Target's in my location do not carry them.

  • @smblyther

    They really should. Sorry =/

  • omg beautiful hair growth....i think our hair texture is very similiar:) btw i want dat shirt.....u have to tell me where to purchase one:)

  • @nicolleminter

Thanks. It's a scarf from NY and Company

  • I appreciate this video!

  • Love the video

Feel free to check out my natural hair care channel

  • Yeaa ..I like the hair mayo WAAAY better than the organics conditioner. It seems like w/ the conditioner you have to keep applying and applying and like it just sits on your hair. It's okay though

  • @BinxWorld94

    I agree

  • my hair is at that length now where i have to section it to wash and condition my hair its much easier that way thanks for the video and ur hair is so pretty!!!! =)

  • @BeeConfident89

No problem. Thanks for watching =)

  • My hair is a little bit shorter than yours and I'm thinking I may need to section as well. Thanks for sharing. One question - why do you condition before you deep condition. I never thought of doing that. I just shampoo and then DC. Thanks.

  • @secretsandlies09

I just prefer detangling my hair with the regular conditioner before deep conditioning.

  • @SimplYounique Okay, that makes sense. Thanks.

  • I truly appreciate your timely response. I too was in the process of washing my hair today.:) You inspired me to give my hair some rest and I follow your other channel. I have been wearing wigs this winter. My hair is shoulder length and I'm aspiring to see how long I can grow it. Once again thank you for your informative videos!

  • you have a beautiful head of hair! nice video. stay blessed

  • I want to buy the tresemme naturals too, Ive heard some good things about it,. I have the organics hair mayo as well but havent used it in ages! Maybe I should re-visit that one! Yea the routine is work but as you've seen I do it too, its definately the best way that works for me! The tip about the olive oil the night before sounds good though, I'm gonna do that next time! Great video :) xx p.s. LOVE the look at the beginning of the video!!

  • @LeiLei08

Thanks girlie. Let me know how it works out for you. And you should definitely test out the tresemme naturals conditioner. As of right now I really like it... It has good slip and smells great.

  • @LeiLei08

    Hey leilei08 :)

Me againg lol, anyhow the organics hair mayo is a protein based conditioner whears the ORS is a mouisture based one. So only use the oranics hair mayo maybe once a month becuase you don't want a protien overload which could lead to dryness and breakage

  • @Hairolic Hey hun! Thanks for breaking down the difference! Would probably explain why I used Oraganics hair mayo all the time when I was texturized and loved it! I don't really use it at all now. There is probably not a need for it, I will stick to a moisture based one!! :) xx

  • i have been doing the same steps but i do it 4 sections

  • Hello and how are you doing? I had a quick question about the where you purchased the Giovanni's Direct Leave-In. I was thinking about ordering some Giovanni's products from the massage site that you mentioned but I was wondering how much did you pay for shipping? Sorry to be nosy but I was just wondering.

  • @Puppylion715

I think like $5-6... I don't remember but I believe the shipping fee is dependent on where you live. I might be wrong.

  • @SimplYounique-Oh okay. Thank you soo much!!! :D

  • @Puppylion715 If you live near an ulta that is where I get mine and I love it.

  • @ArkenWest174-Oh okay. Thank you!! Do they sell the 33.5 oz bottles at Ulta? If so, would you happen to know how much it would be? Thank you again. I have tried going to Marshalls but they NEVER have it, at least not the Smooth as Silk line in the 33.5 oz. (I've hardly ever seen it in the 8.5 oz either). Thank you again!

  • @Puppylion715 Direct Leave-In is in 8.5 at ulta I am pretty sure they have the whole line but not 33.5 s.

  • @ArkenWest174 -Ok. Thank you! :D

  • @Puppylion715

I bought mine from Ulta if you have one in your area...

  • @ssconey-Thank you so much!! :D Do they sell the 33.5 oz bottles at Ulta? If so, do you know how much it is? Thank you again. I have tried going to Marshalls but they NEVER have it and there isn't a TJ Maxx near where I live. Thank you!

  • nice video!! very informative. I'm currently trying out Shea Moisture's Organic Coconut and Hibiscus Curly Butter and Hair Milk. Both of which I really like, they're helping me with second, third and even fourth day hair while keeping my hair Really Soft. ;-)

but ps. The Music to this video absolutely killed me LOL! I kept pausing it to find out if it was actually your video, or if I had a pop up Ad open somewhere >.<

  • @nawtley

Lol @ the music comment... =p

I am glad the shea moisture hair milk and butter is working out for you. That might be next up on my list of things to try.

  • Nice video. I see you use many diffent products for each phase; is this truly a good combination? I ask because I have been told that one must stay close to the combination of the products use, meaning most products are made to work better together with the dame line of products. You will not achieve the same results with using a shampoo and conditioner combination that was not created for one another. I'm sorry so long, just a question I wanted to ask, however, keep up the good videos!

  • Hi sistasoul13,

    Thank you. =)

The only answer I can give you to that question is to use what works for you. I mix and match product lines because I might love the shampoo but hate the conditioner... or I love the shampoo & conditioner but hate the deep treatment that they offer... So if you find a product line that works for you and you love every product that they carry, then I encourage you to use it. I hope that somewhat answered your question.

  • @Mizzshia1

lol... There is something about it that I am not in love with.

  • Hey s123onny,

    Thank you

  • Thanks for making this video I found it very helpful and you explanation was thorough.

  • @neecey586

I am glad you found it helpful. =)

  • I think I will have to try detangle my hair the way you did. I just means instead of washing my hair in the shower I will have to hold my head over the bath which is not comfortable then use the shower to rinse out. I have separate bath and shower. does detangling stop breakage??

  • @Sofrolushes

No I usually wash my hair in the shower but for filming purposes I had to do it this way. Detangling may help to reduce breakage in the sense that, you don't have to worry about knots that may be hard to comb out. If you have knots/tangles/matted hair, it leads to excessive combing/pulling of the hair and that in turn may causes breakage. Hair breakage is also caused from too much protein, lack of moisture, constant friction, excessive heat... etc

  • Love your vids!! Huge fan! Question: After you add the olive oil to your hair the night before, how do you sleep with it? Specifically, what do you put over your hair (i.e. satin cap, shower cap, etc.)? Thanks in advance!

  • @randlaw31

I wear a satin scarf and then I put a satin bonnet over that.

  • @SimplYounique Awesome! Thank you! By the way, even my mom loves to wear your protective styles :-) Keep posting vids because they are super helpful!

  • Besides that I think the twisting the hair idea is great because my sisters hair is almost waist length and it's a pain to detangle sometimes.

  • My sister's hair texture is similar to yours, and from washing her hair I think it's too drying to shampoo your hair as much as you have here. Your hair didn't seem to have any buildup or dandruff and would have been good with a cleansing conditioner instead.

  • @NicoleNightly

Shampooing my hair once a week isn't drying for me. After applying different oils and product on my hair throughout the week my hair needs a good cleansing. Plus the shampoo I used is a sulfate-free shampoo which is not as harsh on my hair. I do appreciate the advice on using a cleansing conditioner though. Thanks

  • @SimplYounique Yes, you mentioned that in the video. Just from our experience you would see a better result in terms of moisture and shine. Just trying to help.

  • Your routine is similar to mine, but I do a few rinses and wash in 4 braids or 6- s few end up coming out.. i may try just puting it in clips and working on each loose section at a time. helpful tut. x

  • @ssikmoi88

Yes, try the clips and let me know how they work out for you.

  • @SimplYounique will do! ps: your top is really cute on you. x

  • I liked your method.. really simple I think.. love ur video's <3!

  • @Lovelyladybug12ify

Thanks. I am glad you found it helpful. =)
