Green energy = very little energy = large oil import = evil Obama... Drill in the US for heavens sake. Russia TV = Communists... Funny RT bezzerwizzer, changing subject, and decide all the answers. Is this comedy? ;)
That so called "nut" who ran against DeFraudzio, is Dr Art Robinson. His so called "compound" is a simple family farm. Dr Robinso resume includes a degree from CalTech, a PhD, research work with Dr. Linus Pauling. The hedge fund mangager contributed about $100,000 not a million. Meanwhile, DeFraudzio received more from unions. But that all gets lost in the propaganda.
Someone from CEI should've better prepared Tim McGraw. Is he new? Is he an intern? He's kind of getting pwned by Thom Hartmann. Hartmann's putting forth his arguments, and this other guy is stumbling to find a response. :/ I'd expect more from CEI's people in a debate.
If anyone should debate Thom on oil and clean energy, it's Robert Bryce. That guy would've knocked Thom out of the water. Get more practice, Brian McGraw.
How are the chinese "carefully regulating capitalism"?? Isn't China still pretty unregulated in terms of the free market? Am I missing something? Isn't the whole reason companies offshore jobs to China BECAUSE of the lack of regulations which lowers costs significantly? Where is Thom getting this bs? Russia Today seems like the only network that'll host him cuz of that.
What about corporate personhood do liberals find so "outrageous"?? The fact that they can MAKE PACs (still can't spend money from actual corporate treasuries) and donate a little bit to a candidate? Or spend money on ADS, as if whenever someone sees an ad, they're automatically gonna vote for or against the target of that ad? Ooh, scary! Lol. This bitching about corporate personhood is ridiculous. How many "planks" or aspects of corporate personhood are they talking about?
Do they REALLY think ending corporate 'personhood' would make everything a-ok? Plus, how is it true 'personhood' if corporations can't vote or give direct money to candidates? As one Cato Institute book outlines, corporations DON'T have full constitutoinal rights even in the justice system. When prosecutors go after corporations and corporate leaders, they're a LOT more careful and vigilant than usual suspects. They don't give them quite as many protections and freedoms.
Who is it that votes for candidates? THE PEOPLE! Who is it that watches ads? THE PEOPLE! Corporations are simply one set of groups that lobby and spend money to influence elections. One out of many. But corporations can't vote, can't donate directly to candidates, and ACTUAL bribery, which is rare, is swiftly punished. People donate to campaigns not to "buy" elections but b/c they AGREE WITH WHAT THE CANDIDATE IS SAYING AND WANT HIM TO WIN. Candidates accept b/c they agree with the donors
If Thom Hartmann wants to "get rid of the autocrats" or their power, maybe he should look to THE PEOPLE who are voting for these "pro-autocraft" candidates and tell THEm to stop doing it? Instead of scapegoating corporations, which is done far too often.
Does the Left HONESTLY think America is gonna become like Europe once we get rid of all corporate influence in our democracy and electoral system?? That Americans are SUDDENLY ognna become super-progressives?
@whoo689 I think the host is extremely confusing, changing subjects and perspectives all the time. To be polite and not angrily say "No, hello there! [...]" is probably the only way to get rid the host deciding answers on his own questions, insane but effective. It's not easy te get angry immediately after someone has mentioned global warming, or terrorism. I think the guy from CEI got to analyze this, but the host seems well trained in progressive communication/dialectics.
Americans don't want high-speed rail! Get that through your thick heads, Democrats. We're a nation of MOBILE citizens. We like driving around and having cars. We prefer using airplanes to get across the country and to international areas. Trains and buses are only really relevant if you live in a HUGE area like NYC with lots of traffic and/or congestion and cabs and shit.
AMERICANS DON'T WANT RAIL! Ok?? High-speed rail won't work in this country. We won't ride it. Got it? good
The host was right, question: "how to you use solar energy to power a car? " Answer" develop it".

As soon as I saw the words "with Thom Hartmann", several red flags came up. I knew that this would not be a very good discussion.
