it looks FAKE ! nobody in a real fight offers the arm or the hand like this... in the first second the aikido fighter receives a super punch and it´s all over ! or goes to the floor if faces a jiu-jitusu fighter.
For the great offense I have caused the aikido and MMA community, I apologize, and offer my most sincere condolences for the loss of your sense of humor. Might I suggest posting something positive in a forum of your choosing.
Ever wonder why their are no akido guys in MMA?? Because they would get crushed by real fighters! You guys look like women dancing around...you should just fuck each other and get it over with.
Aikido relies heavily on wrist locks and arm locks.
There's a reason MMA banned this. Every Aikido technique if done properly and the opponent well... resists, end's up with broken joints. That's why you see the uke (attacker) do all those absurd flips and 'dance-like' moves to offer no resistance for their own safety. Fail to do so, ends in broken bones, specially the clavicle for some reason.
And what makes you think MMA even remotely resembles a 'real' fight?.
Great if people really came at you that slow, all akido demonstrations are the same the guy comes in slow and telagraphed its so set up and useless. In a real fight I would hand you your nuts.
THIS IS NOT AIKIDO. These people are disrespecting and making fun of what aikido truly is. These people should be ashamed. Aikido is the way of life truly. Not stupid people in hakama doing stupid things to eachother!
Aikido is not a fighting art,was never ment to be one.The whole point behind it is to AVOID an aggressive battle, and to only react if needed.Aggression, anger, and brutality have no place in it.If you were to read a book on Aikido techniques only about two of a hundred pages would cover striking. Its whole basis is to use an opponents force against them, using fluid motion and balance, think tranquil Judo.
Aikido would always look so much better if the person being thrown wasn't always going with the flow and jumping with it. That wont happen IRL. People fight against movements, regardless if it hurts or will break their bones.
@MadeInOregon27 That's the point, regardless if the subject is trained or not either you break their arm/wrist/fingers right off the bat, or they must to move with the changes in their bodies in order to prevent said damage. Either way you are controlling your opponent and thus controlling the outcome. Agreed it would look MUCH cooler showing the actual outcome of them breaking neck!
@MadeInOregon27 If you're not going with the flow the throw will get you to the ground. It doesn't always look like it, but if you get thrown and try to stand against you'll get to the point were you just can't stand anymore.

@cwood4ever BTW if u pull a gun in a fistfight against another man u might as well sign up for transgender surgery because u r a women trapped in a fags body
Do the so-called "attackers" also spend a lot of time learning how to attack like zombies and then allow themselves to be walked around like a dog on a leash before performing a somersault?
Scotty doesn't know that Fiona and me do it in my van every Sunday. She says she's going to chuch but she's on her knees and Scotty doesn't know... Oh, Scotty doesn't kno-ow.
Still I admire the joint manipulation of Akido. It only makes sense to take someone down by attacking what they can't exercise, their jonts. That or kick them in the nuts.
But then you'd have to sweep them off their feet or they'd use their other muscles to break your hold.
There seems to be a whole school of aikido practitioners who, having got the uke down into a near perfect position for a kube nage, they "lift" him up for an irimi nage. To me, this makes it all look a bit contrived, a bit like a choreographed dance.

Hey I've been doing Aikido for a little over a year now and have made it to 5th Kyu. Got any tips for better solo practice. It gets kind of annoying not being able to practice much of the form with out an Uke.
@AlchemicalSage If you don't have an uke most of the time and would like to practice by yourself at home, I suggest practicing the kata for both boken and jo. I've been taking Aikido for 8 years now and whenever I instruct newer students, I reference boken work a lot because it gives them something to picture for their movements. If you have any questions, give me a shout.
Great vid. Aikido was kept secret for hundreds of years and was only taught to the Japanese royal family. The more the enemy resists the more powerful his defeat.
You are right, but what does that have anything to do with it? Aikido derives mainly from the martial art of Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu, which is what the ancient Samurai practiced, but began to diverge from it in the late 1920s, partly due to Ōsensei Morihei Ueshiba's involvement with the Ōmoto-kyō religion. Ueshiba's early students' documents bear the term aiki-jūjutsu.
@Waiting4TheWorms No, a reporter asked Ueshiba if it was Daito-Ryu Aiki-Jujitsu where he found Aikido. He said that it only opened his eyes to budo. He said he found Aikido in a divine moment of enlightenment.
Spud, I think you are on some very good drugs ;) Aikido is a Gendai (post WW2 martial art) so there is no way it coul dhave been kept secret for hundreds of years... oh and there is no Royal family in Japan, and there has never been!
Thanks for the compliment jazzyslip but I'm weird enough without drugs :-) Let me clear up my post. I got that info many years ago from a history of Aikido written in the sixties, the book claiming Aikido was only taught to the royal houshold. It began to be taught more openly somewhere around the begining of the 20th centuary. If you doubt that Japan has a royal family - just Google it.
Well they have an imperial family... And the book probably refered to the arts from which Aikido was derived. But even those arts were not taught secretely to the Imperial family. Probably taught exclusively to the samurai class. But I see how they would make that statement in a book from the sixties ;) No offense intended by the way ;)
@SpudXXXX allo spud. Just to clear it up. Aikido wasn't even invented until the 20th century. It is derived from aiki-jutsu, daito-ryu, jo-jutsu and yari-jutsu. If I'm being honest aikido in itself was nothing more than a safe and gentle way to learn the above arts. Ueshiba lost A LOT of students through permanent injury so really only developed the art so that he would keep a greter portion of his students.
@jazzyslip The emperial family are known as the royal family. Let's not pick hairs though ... or heirs lol.
You're right about aikido in itself, as we know it, aiki-jutsu however is one of the oldest styles of unarmed combat in japan, in fact it was the first to be given a name. Previously it was taught as part of the weapon classes but was later refined and given it's own name and school. It was nick-named aikido, pronounced ay ee chi doh
@aikifan77 Hi aikifan77, interesting facts... do you know if you have a reference or somthing similar about that? I am not being ironic: I am sincerely interested...
@jazzyslip No probs Jazz. Thing is most of what I knw about aiki comes from my knowledge of the japanese language, japanese history, martial history and studying aikido both as an aart and as a philosophy. Most of what you need can be found in O-sensei's biography but you need to read between the lines. Aikido as an art in itself will only give you info post war but reading about the founder and his students will give you so much more. Read about Kenji Tomiki, that will give you some insight.
@jazzyslip as for the evolution of aiki-jutsu. It's one of those things you need to take on faith, I hate taking things on faith but all the evidence points that way. Anything named Jutsu is born from aiki-jutsu, this includes ju-jutsu then judo. Aiki, at the time, meant unarmed, it was what you learned when either disarmed or unable to draw your weaponj, that's why many of the techniques, although empty handed, are practiced with weapons in mind. IE from the draw or the disarm.
this is 2 people not very well trained in aikido making a mock of the art. If you noticed, the attacker didn't know how to fall and hurt himself during the throw. He tried to make a mock of the technique by playing it off. It was obvious that his arm bent wrong.
practice in front of a mirror for several hours a day looking totally awesome and cool. You must also believe you are a robot with pneumatic legs. or maybe i will post a new video.
@Mr74liger But that was not the appropriate Way. Normaly you should go with your Right Feet to your other knee on the ball and push you up while your Back is in a Straight line. That is the "right" traditional Way in japan. But much harder to do, then going up with Both Legs in that way of the video.
Nice way at :57 to get up out of seiza. Are you on the flats of your toes when you get up or tips? Just kidding about the tips but I did see it in a movie once.
Why does no one show a REAL demonstration?! Something like sparring where you try to get out of the Aikido move or try to punch or kick or grab while you are being twirled around? Aikido is interesting but I've never seen anything but a "dummy" sparring partner that gets thrown around.
Wonderful video. I love the humorous energy both nage and uke put into the techniques. I agree with several other comments about this being the best aikido, because when you're happy and enjoying yourself you tend to be the most relaxed you can get. And the breakfalling and rolling certainly showed that. Excellent job. Hope to see another (but disable the comments, people don't know how to take a joke nowadays)
try getting thrown for a full hour none stop by four ormore guys. try doing 80 forward rolls in one go, try a full speed randori with four guys at once. aikido is both mentally, and physically demanding
Some may say its silly that the attacker moves along with the defender, but he has to to prevent serious joint injury. Its serious stuff if you practice wrong. dislocation is the name of the business if you aren't wise. that is why it is so effective to those that have no idea whats coming. its easy to break the wrist dislocate a shoulder if they try and resist.
bullshit!

Hey I've been doing Aikido for a little over a year now and have made it to 5th Kyu. Got any tips for better solo practice. It gets kind of annoying not being able to practice much of the form with out an Uke.
AlchemicalSage 1 year ago
@AlchemicalSage If you don't have an uke most of the time and would like to practice by yourself at home, I suggest practicing the kata for both boken and jo. I've been taking Aikido for 8 years now and whenever I instruct newer students, I reference boken work a lot because it gives them something to picture for their movements. If you have any questions, give me a shout.

This is not the bestest Aikido ever because at least one of them are screwing around and not being serious about it.

Great vid. Aikido was kept secret for hundreds of years and was only taught to the Japanese royal family. The more the enemy resists the more powerful his defeat.
SpudXXXX 2 years ago
WTF??? Aikido was develloped in the 20th century
Putore 2 years ago 2
You are right, but what does that have anything to do with it? Aikido derives mainly from the martial art of Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu, which is what the ancient Samurai practiced, but began to diverge from it in the late 1920s, partly due to Ōsensei Morihei Ueshiba's involvement with the Ōmoto-kyō religion. Ueshiba's early students' documents bear the term aiki-jūjutsu.
Waiting4TheWorms 2 years ago
@Waiting4TheWorms No, a reporter asked Ueshiba if it was Daito-Ryu Aiki-Jujitsu where he found Aikido. He said that it only opened his eyes to budo. He said he found Aikido in a divine moment of enlightenment.
TheKaamos123 2 years ago
Spud, I think you are on some very good drugs ;) Aikido is a Gendai (post WW2 martial art) so there is no way it coul dhave been kept secret for hundreds of years... oh and there is no Royal family in Japan, and there has never been!
jazzyslip 2 years ago
Thanks for the compliment jazzyslip but I'm weird enough without drugs :-) Let me clear up my post. I got that info many years ago from a history of Aikido written in the sixties, the book claiming Aikido was only taught to the royal houshold. It began to be taught more openly somewhere around the begining of the 20th centuary. If you doubt that Japan has a royal family - just Google it.
SpudXXXX 2 years ago
Well they have an imperial family... And the book probably refered to the arts from which Aikido was derived. But even those arts were not taught secretely to the Imperial family. Probably taught exclusively to the samurai class. But I see how they would make that statement in a book from the sixties ;) No offense intended by the way ;)

SpudXXXX 2 years ago
@SpudXXXX allo spud. Just to clear it up. Aikido wasn't even invented until the 20th century. It is derived from aiki-jutsu, daito-ryu, jo-jutsu and yari-jutsu. If I'm being honest aikido in itself was nothing more than a safe and gentle way to learn the above arts. Ueshiba lost A LOT of students through permanent injury so really only developed the art so that he would keep a greter portion of his students.
aikifan77 1 year ago
@aikifan77 I just Googled the inventor of Aikido and appears you are right.
Peace.
SpudXXXX 1 year ago
@jazzyslip The emperial family are known as the royal family. Let's not pick hairs though ... or heirs lol.
You're right about aikido in itself, as we know it, aiki-jutsu however is one of the oldest styles of unarmed combat in japan, in fact it was the first to be given a name. Previously it was taught as part of the weapon classes but was later refined and given it's own name and school. It was nick-named aikido, pronounced ay ee chi doh
aikifan77 1 year ago
@aikifan77 Hi aikifan77, interesting facts... do you know if you have a reference or somthing similar about that? I am not being ironic: I am sincerely interested...
jazzyslip 1 year ago
@jazzyslip No probs Jazz. Thing is most of what I knw about aiki comes from my knowledge of the japanese language, japanese history, martial history and studying aikido both as an aart and as a philosophy. Most of what you need can be found in O-sensei's biography but you need to read between the lines. Aikido as an art in itself will only give you info post war but reading about the founder and his students will give you so much more. Read about Kenji Tomiki, that will give you some insight.
aikifan77 1 year ago

What a disgrace to aikido. horrible flow. and no power. total lack of tradition as well. american aikido i suppose.

I would appreciate it.

practice in front of a mirror for several hours a day looking totally awesome and cool. You must also believe you are a robot with pneumatic legs. or maybe i will post a new video.
Samurai314 2 years ago 7
@Mr74liger
Don't do it. It is bad for the knees and removes cartilage. You need to pop your hips back to avoid overstressing cartilage in the joint.
nanoihateaim 1 year ago
@Mr74liger /just keep back straight and stand up
powerpole100 11 months ago
@Mr74liger But that was not the appropriate Way. Normaly you should go with your Right Feet to your other knee on the ball and push you up while your Back is in a Straight line. That is the "right" traditional Way in japan. But much harder to do, then going up with Both Legs in that way of the video.

Nice way at :57 to get up out of seiza. Are you on the flats of your toes when you get up or tips? Just kidding about the tips but I did see it in a movie once.
Mr74liger 2 years ago

Is aikido very physically demanding? or some what physically demanding?
11xr1east 2 years ago
depends on which style you practice in. In Yuishinkai Aikido, I guess it is kinda physical but you also get to go at your own pace. :D

can you tell me what's the criteria to obtain a black belt in aikido?
11xr1east 2 years ago
not really physically demanding
Hjaltithehun 2 years ago
try getting thrown for a full hour none stop by four ormore guys. try doing 80 forward rolls in one go, try a full speed randori with four guys at once. aikido is both mentally, and physically demanding
