If one were diagnosed with cancer, their survival would not be contingent upon current cancer therapies which, incidentally, have not changed in 4 decades: chemotherapy and radiation is still the only treatment.

Testing on primates is the most expensive variety, and generally implemented prior to human-trials for major treatments/medication.
If they are being used to test lipstick, than hell ya, I'll drive the get-away van to free them... but if its the cure for Cancer then get your priorities straight. IMO it is a necessary evil, and no matter how sad it may be, millions of dead human beings make me far sadder than a few monkeys.

The profits that the drug companies make far outweigh the cost to conduct animal testing. The cost of research and development of a new drug is miniscule in comparison to the profit. Pfizer, for instance, recorded $48.4 billion in sales in 2007, of which $12.9 billion was profit.
Wasting time? Researchers? The longer they stay in the lab 'searching' for cures for human disease, the longer they are employed -- by me, the federal taxpayer.

I am not denying that humans are omnivours, but recent research, namely the china study, have shown a strong correlation between animal proteins, especialy casein found in milk and dairy, and an increase in cancer growth.
The cancer causing toxins are almost un avoidable in this day and age but a dietry change can slow or even halt the growth of those cells.
I am not trying to push a Vegan or Vegetarian diet on anyone, I just suggest decreasing the intake of animal proteins

I view animal testing as a necessary evil. I believe that when the medical gains are substantial and plausible with real research to back up the reasoning, than it must be done.
Still, the animal (monkey or mouse) should be respected and treated as well as possible. I vehemently disagree with superficial testing, like cosmetics.

If one were diagnosed with cancer, their survival would not be contingent upon current cancer therapies which, incidentally, have not changed in 4 decades: chemotherapy and radiation is still the only treatment.
Surviving cancer is contingent upon the advances that have been made in biotechnology, the MRI and CAT scans, which detect cancer at its earliest stage.
Prevention: avoiding animal foods such as meat and milk, which contain hormones and steroids known to cause human cancer.

I am smart enough to be a scientist, but you are correct ,I am not. My mother, however, is a scientist, and she does research monkeys. She has been the victim of harassment, intimidation, and an attempted bombing. I very reasonably suspect the coward who's voice we can hear in this video as taking part in those acts of terrorism. Your judgements of me based on my comment below are totally inaccurate. Perhaps you aren't nearly as smart as you think you are.

jeff: That explains your bias towards using animals for experimentation. I know who shot this video personally and he would never act violently towards any being, human or animal. It takes courage to go undercover and document the truth. It takes no courage to confine, abuse, torture and kill animals for antiquated, worthless "science". It is well documented that animals make deplorable models for human health. Your mother is using the system to get grant money at taxpayer expense.
