Ok, is it me or is the scene at 4:50 - 5:03 meant to be symbolic, because it reaallyy focuses in on Nels, then at the painting, then back to Nels. I wasn't sure if anyone knew who the man in the painting was? A "late great" musician perhaps? Who knows, just always looked like the filmer was trying to make something out of that.
this is just beautiful in many ways... all my lies are always wishes...
i would like to salute.. beautiful. Must be one of the best musical things to come from America in recent years. Yet people say they're a pretentious band. Pity if you think this is pretentious.
I write songs from time to time, and to be honest it's songs like this one and Like A Rolling Stones that keeps you from stopping - they drive you to try to even attempt to match the genius they contain in few words and the feeling of the instruments. So I'd like to give an ambivalent "thank you" and "why must you be so perfect" out to Wilco. That is all.
It's amazing how beautiful this film makes the rugged concrete landscape interspersed with miles of greenery covering the midwest seem almost beautiful. And this song just knocks me on my behind when I listen to it. Wilco has so much edge and melancholy on YTF. It's a thing to behold.
Wilco and Radiohead rule and reign as the world's best rock bands. U2? c'mon they sold out years ago. U2 simply writes radio songs. If anyone says Kings of Leon I will personally punch you in the eye socket. Coldplay? ehh their ok except that every single song sounds the same, plus the lead singer is a poser.
absolutely immense. much as i love the songs on yankee hotel foxtrot they all sound infintely better live. agree with the below poster- too much distortion on vocals and guitar
jay bennett, this song needs you. rest in peace.

It's pretty good, but I actually like the solo and ending from the "Kicking Television" version better. Such an incredible song, though.
