Mojosbigstick,so,if you have so much friend who work in network, maybe it is really great business?
I hate people who failed in MLM and now saying what it is BAD BUSINESS! If person isn't determined enough, he just can't reach what he wants IN ANY work.
People who made this video completely don't understand HOW IT CAN WORK. I am working in a very good network marketing company and daily hear and see, what result do people reach there, and I am determined to reach my purpose AND I WILL REACH IT.
Odds are if you've made a resume public on one of the many job search engines out there an MLM has contacted you. They're taking advantage of the under and unemployed in this poor economy and I'm glad people are becoming hip to it. Beware about getting calls about job offers which you haven't applied for. Beware of any company asking you to spend money before you make money. They throw these ridiculous numbers around as well as these lofty "vice president" titles and put them in your face.
Pyramid schemes are illegal. These companies are obviously pyramid schemes.... although differnet wording "multi-level marketting" is used...which is bullshit. Why aren't these companies being taken out by the government?
@benzagel Because they sell a product, so they are technically legal. But, if you take a closer look, you will see that many of them, you'll see that the money you get for recruiting far outweighs the money you get for product sales. For example, if you make $15 for recruiting a rep, but $3 for finding a customer, what is someone going to spend their time doing? The most ridiculous one I've seen is $100 for bringing in a rep (who pays $500 to get started), and $6 when someone buys a $100 product
@benzagel Because the government takes kickbacks from them? Because the government has its own people in the MLM business? Because the government doesn't give a shit to you and me?
Okay people. The truth is that MLM has helped thousands of people support their families and actually get ahead in life. They don't do it by stomping on others, laying them off, or keeping them down in the trenches - like the corporate world. When you reach out a helping hand to others to move them up (with you or under you), they that propels you to more success. But some people just aren't any good at direct sales. So don't blame personal failure on the company or the business model.
Screw MLM man. I'll admit a family friend almost had me convinced this stuff was legit. The bigworded fake techy lingo throws you and I had never heard of the concept at that point. However, once I heard about the monetary cost and did my research, I immediately realized this stuff was a sham.
I'm just amazed people don't research these "companies" in advance. How can you possibly not look deeper when you're initially shelling out $200-$500+ for this crap??!
I was almost roped into one of these things just recently. I was skeptical about it, and seeing this furthered my conviction. These things are such bullshit.
Just recently an MLM company from Sweden called Oriflame was closed in Iran because pyramid schemes are not legal there, but the mass media here in Sweden only told the story as if it was because the product it was circled around was cosmetics and the islamists in power don't allow wearing makeup, which you'd know is a stupid claim if you've ever been to Iran (very appearance obsessed culture).
While I despise the regime in Iran, this was just a lie to keep an unethical firm afloat.
networkmarketing is a big scam.....you never get paid and when they do pay you...you are just getting back money you allready shelled out but never make any profit...it just makes you feel good getting the money...but only stupid a holes beleive they actually made a profit....my stepbrother tried to get me involved today and I ask him to leave my house and never come back...what a loser!
There is no such thing as easy money regardless of the company or system, product or service. Success takes training and work in any arena, even the business of being a critic.
YES! Success in misleading people in a business where they give up their time, energy, and money, and where it is not uncommon to alienate themselves from their friends and family, does take work.
A few of my family members got involved with a MLM company only a few months before I saw this episode. It' s not as obvious as the examples in PnT's Easy Money episode, but it's almost more dangerous because people take them seriously. I just hope they don't lose their asses in the system.
Not to mention that it's causing friction with me because I wont have anything to do with it. Sigh...
Network Marketing is a legitimate system, but there must be integrity in three areas for the company to succeed. The product must stand alone, meaning be valuable even if a rep makes no money. The company must have integrity from the top down. meaning the marketing plan is designed to benefit the rep MORE than the company, and the marketing system must be honest, with proper training to avoid trying to turn people into sales types which they find almost impossible. miss one of three and no go.
@eagleteamworldwide Unfortunately, what you are describing almost NEVER happens. Every one of these companies convinces people that their company is somehow "different" than all those other companies that produced the horror stories that people hear about. It's the EXACT same song and dance with all of these companies. NETWORK MARKETING IS NOT A LEGITIMATE SYSTEM. If a product is worth it's salt, it will make it to retail, period. This is the information age. We don't need "direct" sales.
I was so dissapointed when a friend tried this on me. At first I tried to be supportive and listen to her about her 'great new job', but every time we met she'd start straight in with"'So have you thought about signing up yet?" I became just another mark to her, so that friendship was down the pan. It's a shame, because she's a really nice person, just a little stupid about this pyramid selling scheme.
That interview at the end brings back memories. I've told so many of these people go screw themselves when they've tried that same bullshit recruiting line on me. It's like dealing with a cult.
