Like your vids mate. Was wondering if you could give me some advice on a good wildlife lens? Recently bought a canon 40D with a 17-85mm. Was gona save for a sigma 150-500mm for wildlife shots??????? don't know much about Nikon yet..Just stsarting out with DSLR's
Nice Job! Too bad you didn't notice the hummingbird in the background during the last few minutes of your video! It would have been cool to swing around and get his photo :-)
That particular teleconverter was around 400 dollars new. I would try to find one on ebay. Remember though it only works with the nikon 70-200mm lens and nikon super telephoto prime lenses.
argh... during the whole video, i was so afraid you hit ur tripod accidentally and the camera falls b/c one of the tripod leg is so just so close to the table edge!! LOL
Hey AllAmericanGuy, I'm not QQQQcon, but I shoot portrait and event photo and offer my advice of going for the 18-200VR. Its a slower lens in low light, but unless you can afford the 70-200VR, its probably a good alternative.
Personally, I'm just prime lens guy and use the 85 1.8D and 28 2.8D, but zooms are generally more convenient for most people. If you really want a low light portrait lens for cheap, pick up a 50mm 1.8D or 35mm 1.8.
Yeah I was looking at the 50mm lens 1.8D, I really had my eyes set on that one and not to mention it's really affordable. But the 70-200VR sounds like a good alternative because I shoot a lot of indoor photography where flash photography isn't allowed, so I will def. look into that one. Thanks!!
Hey, I'm thinking about making a major upgrade from a D60 to a D300s. I've did all my homework and research and set financial plans to help me purchase the camera, but my question to you is (since I look up to you), what lens would you recommend for a person like myself who simply does portrait and event photography? I wish I can have more than one, but len are so expensive, I can only afford one that can do both jobs..What do you recommend?
You can't tell me photography isn't for me because I can't afford to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on equipment. That's ridiculous. I love photography and for you to tell me that it isn't for me because I'm worried about expense, is very belittling of you to do. And I make money already using my D60. I just want to invest in an upgrade. And so you'll know, I'm a full time college student who received a full ride scholarship (scholarship that pays for everything). Leave it at that.
im a student as well at a photography school in philly. all i had to do to get in was send in a few of my pictures and paid a lil money and bam. my highschool grades were shit and i still got into college. i never said i wasnt worried about expense, im just saying its expensive. get the d5000 if your gunna upgrade. theres no need for that many bodys though, its really the lense that makes a difference, aside from a few more features
The D5000 isn't a big enough improvement for me. For some reason, when it was released, I was never really drawn to it. And the lens does make the difference but I'm going for performance as well as quality.
AllAmericanGuy01, sorry for sticking my nose in but unless you really need/want the features of the d300s (its speed, HD movie etc) then if it was me i would save the money and buy a slightly lower-end/cheaper camera, perhaps a D90 or a second hand D300 and save the money for lenses. it is important to have high quality glass aswel as a good body. just my view :)
Thanks for the alternative, choice but I've been looking around at the D300's and they really aren't THAT much cheaper than the D300s. Minus a few hundred bucks here in there, that's about it. So why not just save a few extra hundred bucks and just get the upgraded version of the D300. And I wouldn't use it for movies or videos, that's what I have a little camcorder for. But I like shooting sporting events and things of that nature. But thanks again!
ok, i see your point, i wasnt aware you were going to be shoting sporting events aswel. i use my D300 with sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 for sports with the MB-D10 and 8fps is unbelievable, such a difference from my old D40 :p best of luck with your new camera and photography in general :)

Do you do any macro photography? which lens would you recommend?
globetrekker26 2 years ago
I have done some, For serious macro I would go for the nikon 105mm vr lens.
QQQQcon 2 years ago
thanks for your quick reply. I think I will get the sigma 105 mm f2.8. it's half the price but a bit slower than the nikon.
globetrekker26 2 years ago
U should get a Tamron 90mm f2.8. Ive seen some realy good reviews.

The nikon 18-200mm is the best all around lens and the best choice if you just want one.
