  • Brilliant! Had this on DVD once. I reckon Paul Desmond's solo is far better here than on the recorded version. I'm still amazed at the sound quality of these Jazz Casual transfers.

  • I love ths song one of my favorite jazz songs i always listen to it

  • listening to this awesome song for the 20th- 30th time in a row, cant stop, help!

  • It was worth Humanity evolving out of the primordial ooze JUST so that this piece of music could be created.

  • that drummers solos class

  • best version EVER!!

  • I LIKE THE SLOWER VERSION.

  • i love it

  • RIP Joe Morello , I shall lift a shot to you tonight.

  • I kinda believe that jazz is called to me: "The intelligent music"

  • this in my opinion sounds like golden brown by the stranglers

  • @angelamezcua you mean golden brown sounds like this

  • @An0nym0usAs1an yea your right. well since i heard that first i put it first but you're completely right

  • Dear god, the drums in this are beautiful.

  • did you know that one in 231 people have no respect for good music?

  • @brianbrianbrian10 - wankers :)

  • I could listen to this a re-run over and over and over again if I drove from NY to LA.

Each moment of that drive would be the most meaningful moments I would have in joyful thoughts.

  • Amazing drummer !

  • this is music!

  • paja

  • Simply eloquent and beautiful! Reminds me of the nights I'd walk home on the streets of Chicago after a club closed for the night.

  • brilliant !!!!

    *****

  • very good 5stars

  • gotta love the classics...doesn't get much better than this.

  • I have been playing alto saxophone for 12 years and this piece is by far the best, true alto saxophone piece out there.

In actuality, it is not difficult to learn 'Take Five'. Speaking as an experienced saxophonist the problem when teaching this piece to young students (6th, 7th and 8th graders) is that the rhythm is unique.

Beginners, don't be discouraged this is a Jazz Standard. Especially for saxophonists, learn this piece for you will always have an audience if you can play 'Take Five'

  • mmm , esbueno como fondo de una maldad!

  • magnifique :)

  • It's like Dizzy said: "those whiteboys can bump".

  • best song ever, i've been playing all kinds of music for around 15 years now. But this beats everything. How simple it may sound, it's o so impossible to play for the averadge life time musician

  • I have been learning to play saxophonejust as the prevbious poster i suck at rhytm so it didnt work out. But believe me: to get that sound out of a sax you need years of practice. Genious!

  • my band teacher was thinking of doing an oboe quartet with it- except only one person was capable of playing good. i suck at rhythms and others are just OK at it, but can't get as high.

    great piece too.

  • this tune 4ever! Jazz RULZ!

  • Even Tho im young and didnt grow with jazz an d blues! For me this one is one out of all i´ve seen of jazz and blues!

Men i´ve been playing d rums for about 2 years and men this guys are amazing! my dad has always told me that but never thought it was this gr8! I think i got jazz in my blood!

  • looking for this song for years? obviously not looking hard enough. it's one of the most famous jazz comps ever written. you could hum this tune in any record shop and be pointed in the right direction within seconds.

  • I love this classic

  • Brubeck and Desmond simply 'swung.' Damn, is that word?

"Take Five" is among the coolest in cool jazz. Thank you dear Mr. Brubeck, and Mr. Desmond ( wherever you are ).

  • great ,,,simple. perfect

  • is this a 5/4 beat??

  • yes

  • cool breeze all the way, im only 27

  • im only 14 and im realy diggin this one

    the break is the s****

  • Quality. this just renews my love for the jazz. Especially at 2:47 . :)

  • This has become one of those songs. You here it everywhere, everyone is familiar w/ its sound, but most people have no idea what they are hearing. It is like Vivaldi's Four Seasons or O Fortuna from Carmina Burana. It comes up again & again in movies & commercials. It has become almost invisible by its wide use. It is the perfect sonic embodiment of what is meant by the mood of COOL.

  • Damn these complex time signatures. Foot tapping is difficult.

  • our school band preformed this at our school (well =P) and only then I found out the name of this song, I love it =)

  • does anyone know who the composer of this piece is?

  • Paul Desmond of the Dave Brubeck Quartet in 1959.

  • I cannot understand how someone can dislike jazz . Especially with songs as good as this.

  • Thank you this is awesome! Thanks for the MLK speech video also. Best wishes for 2009 and hope for the future!

  • Great piece =)

  • One of the best jazz songs i know. I get to play the drums for this song in my high school band. hehe
