Very good. Thanks for the work you went into. Garak was a fascinating character. Cardasians are an interesting race (in theory of coarse, this is fiction). They play by different rules than we do.
What episode did the clip at 6:31 come from? Garak looks so old and sickly. I noticed that his weight fluctuated throughout the show, and that's fine since I always found him to be hot!! but at that point he doesn't look well. Was that supposed to be part of the episode? Thanks for the video, MollieCat.
You seem to have hit the secret of rewatchability with this vid. I've revisited it many times and have enjoyed it just as much each time. A lot of the credit goes of course to the actor, but your directorial and technical efforts cannot be discounted. Great job.
Hey, do you mind if I make a vid to "Sympathy for the Devil" (the first song you used in this vid)? Your vid inspired me...I'd make sure to give you credit, of course :).
This is fantastic, I can't count how many times I've watched it...you've got some of the best Garak quotes. I love "but then I thought, well, no, I can't fight all these Klingons by myself -- so I let him live." The offhand way he says it is hilarious.
My favorite part of the vid is the beginning. You cut the replimat/ops scenes very well, and the song is PERFECT. How did you get the words to fit so well? Pure genius.
Never seen a look of such offense, it's hilarious.
I love the isolinear rod quote. I'd love to see a video composed purely of Garak quotes, he definitely has the best quotes and monologues (speeches) in the series.
Best seven minutes, twenty seconds ever I spent. Yer truly talented with editing, me friend, the way ye interspliced the dialogue in the two initial scenes, that was MASTERFUL, and your choice of music was, for lack of a better adjective, FREAKING SPOT-ON.
From the moment I heard those drums and "O-OWW!" in the beginning, I sort of leaped up in my chair and went "OH HELL YES!" in a sort of joyful... well, squeal. Maybe an unusual reaction to Garak but one he elicits very well.
My sentiments exactly! Well done MollieCat! I'd love to see a clip of Bashir trying to impress Garak with the tale of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"! Garak's spin on the moral to Cry Wolf? 'One should not tell the same lie twice' (paraphrased)
I love This Video I watchit whenever I feel depressed. It ALWAYS makes me smile/laugh.... That and the fact that i'm a big Julien/Elim Slasher. *giggle* In the season 1 ep. 3 Julien acted like a jack-rabbit on crack... he bounces everywhere!! Iloved watching him mature over the seasons... *fond memories smile*
Have just shown it to a friend who has never watched 'Star Trek' before and this (with other DS9 videos) has been one of the main things to ger her interested in the show. Now I have someone to fangirl Garak with, thank you!!! ;-)
WOW! After you've watched the whole series from start to finish you should have a GARAK-episode marathon like I did! I have been plotting my next DS9 marathon...Weyoun!
Bought Dirty Harry. Loved it. Our Mr. Robinson's portrayal of the Scorpio killer was gruesome, eerie, iconic, erotic, AND ironic. Plus that movie has a kickass soundtrack!!!! But I digress. Glad there are others out there that think about things the way I do. It's always nice when people agree with you.
Garak has got to be one of the best characters on this show. God bless Andy Robinson!!! Great acting to it finest! He and Armin are the nest part of this show. God I miss it!
7+ Hours well spent! I don't want to read the suggested book by Garak1976 incase it doesn't live upto my expectations of him! They should just make a series of him! Or just a prequal to DS9!
Bravo! Good to know there are other fans of the plain, simple tailor out there. If you haven't read it, you should read the book of Garak's life story "A Stich in Time" written by Andrew Robinson himself.
I'm a YouTube lurker who just signed up for an account so I could comment on this video. I think it's great. I like the choice of music, and how you fade the music out to accomodate the dialogue. I also like how you intersplice the clips, for example Garak's introduction to Bashir alternating with him telling everyone in Ops.
This is very interesting. I've never seen a vid done quite like this before. It was great to watch all of Garak's best scenes all at once set to background music. My favourite part was in the beginning, where you splice the moments of Garak & Bashir's first meeting with Bashir's telling everyone about it. :) Thanks for posting.
I like how when they first meet and Bashir is telling everyone Jadzia is all blowing it off and like "Yeah spy whatever" and it looks like Bashir is the only one who believes it. This arc really kicked Bashir's character into gear, because he ended up being the one who was right.
Can you repost it under another name with the soundtrack?

Garak is only second to none.
I used to await every appearance of his on the series and was very dissapointed when he didn't show up.
And I was right.
We need more of him or his likes to make things interesting !
