I love Kevn Kinney. I remember he used to come on 96.1 before they became "The Project" and got all corporate and be a guest co-host. He's a funny guy.
yes, it’s really cool to have made a record that is that solid. I remember just before we went to record it, I was with my roommate and we were listening to Drivin’ N’ Cryin’. They had an album out at the time called Fly Me Courageous, which is just a great record with eleven awesome songs. I remember saying to my roommate, “God, I hope that we can make a record that is this good.” My roommate kind of raised his eyebrows and said, “I don’t know, Rob. This is a really good record.”
i got to hang with these guys in May/june of 1991 at a party after a concert of some other local bands in Atlanta. i still think this is one of my fav songs of the late 80's thru early 90's !!! and u r right, most people outside of GA have no clue.
i got to hang with these guys in May/june of 1991 at a party after a concert of some other local bands in Atlanta. i still think this is one of my fav songs of the late 80's thru early 90's !!!
I saw them Saturday night 11/20/10 @ Jannus Live in St. Pete, FL. After 25 years they still rock!!! Awsome show! If you ever get the opportunity to see them live...do it!
Incredible...I've never actually seen these guys live. Watching them from '91 when they had 20 years more energy reminds me why I loved them when I was first turned on by another misplaced Georgia native. They still make me homesick and I still love'em.
That was actually very cool! How did Letterman's band mess it up?!? The fact that Drivin' even got to be on Letterman is crazy amazing! Some of you guys are way to critical.
Drivin n Cryin was another great band that few people know about. Great album, great song......but Paul Shitfer & the Cornholes had to mess everything up! why God, why??!
i agree the house band was corny and instead of helping they always seemed to screw it up somehow. But Letterman exposed a lot of underground groups to a large udience youve got to give that to him, he had good taste when it came to music on his show.
@drone81 Well yeah if your're talking to people that no nothing about music. Me and friend used to play this CD back when it was new. Probably one of the BEST hard rock bands that went no where. It's a shame considering some of the elements of their music is VERY trendy right now. Listen to Fly Me Courageous from beginning to end on a pair of headphones....it sounds fresh to me after not listening to it in 17 years.
I haven't heard this song since way back when!! I heard it on the radio and didn't remember the name catching the tail end of the song. Glad 93.5 posts every song played daily on their site. Here I am jammin again!
A tiny bit of well placed keyboard would have been ok. but NO paul had to go stupid on it and be all over the place. And yeah why cant they let the artist just play their shit and sit one out. They add nothing. DnC, Great fucking band.
You know, Paul had the audacity to tell Eric Clapton, B.B. King, and Buddy Guy to "quit improvising" and "do the take" when the three of them were at the Letterman Show practicing for an appearance.
I hate when that turd Paul Shaffer and his wimpy wanna-be "rock band" orchestra join in with every band that's on. It's distracting, annoying and takes away the true power of what the band is trying to get across. I still think this is a great performance though.
They played a concert at my high school in late 1990. It was one of the loudest and best shows we ever had. I try to catch them whenever they play a show in town.
I saw this on TV originally and recorded it. Then I lost the tape (yes, back then we actually had VHS tape before the age of TIVO). I'm just glad to see this again. The era of bands paying their dues on the road and then getting a record contract after proving themselves after actually writing their own songs is over.
@sweet60 Absolutely it's been over for years, All you have to do is come up with a couple Kick Ass songs and a Damn good Following ad you can get signed.I have noticed in the Last 5 years how all the 80's HAIR BANDS that I love are making a come back,All I can say from about 84'to 92' Was the Best Era of music. Until that dead Faggot Kurt NoBrains,Came along in his Flannel Shirt and ruined it all. That's when MTV changed for ever.It sux Now all they Play is RAP & Dance SHIT. Rock is Back though

But will we live long enough to see a Band play on Letterman WITHOUT that Canadian Midget and his Micro-Band trying to get in on the act?
Go Away, Paul Shaffyer and let the Pros play their music.
