I liked the movie, but only because I've been waiting for it for 7 years. I wanted to like it, therefore... I liked it.
However, in a few years, if FOX is not just focusing on the 4 titles it actually cares about for once, we should do a relaunch. Despite the paper-thin story and high-school-acting (hey, it's just like the cartoon!), it did have some potential and did capture some of the spirit. It wasn't enough though; fans want an epic tale of good and evil, not a high school action flick.
i thought goku was supose to be an alien or something i dont really care at all about the race, but they still fucked the dragonball series up the ass pretty hard
this movie was far one of the WORST movies ive ever seen. as a dragonball fan since i was a child, this movie was a slap in the face to every fan. i hope they never make a sequel to this garbage and let this movie DIE! omg, i fucking hate this movie. stupid story, cheap cgi, horrible acting, and the worst fight scenes since the power ranger shows. lol. this movie made me laugh because of the terrible acting. i was pissed but couldnt help laughing at how bad it was.

No, I'm saying the fictional race known as the "Saiyans" come from the planet Vegeta, and last time I checked, Japan was here on Earth. I'm not even saying the dude's supposed to look Caucasian, just that he is not necessarily Japanese. Because the creator's Japanese doesn't mean he's making every character Japanese too. I'd tell you to wiki it, but you can't wiki common sense.
