Might just have been a kitten thing- I've seen them having seizure but they're running all over the place and doing crazy shit that is like a quadro-ped version of the 3 stooges are something.
My vet said the cat might have feline hyperesthesia syndrome, but when she goes into seizure, she looks like your cat. Do you know what causes the seizure and how does your vet treat her? What meds are prescribed?
The poor little kitty has most definitely suffered an intercranial disrruption of the central nervous system or most commonly know in the feline world as a "Brain Cloud". That poor little animal. : (
I know when we adopted our kitten who had been abused, she had some freak-outs, but I think it was just trauma. She didn't like chasing strips of fabric, and hissed if we tried to trail them over her head to get her to bat at it. She didn't like being touched near the tail AT all. It took her a few months to accept that we were not going to hurt her. She lived a healthy life afterward, and became an excellent hunter. She used to go after rabbits.
Obiusly he/she is having a seizure. And should not be left alone. Not evan on a hard surface, just banging it's head. Many people on YT are doing that! Stupid! At least you could of cared for it and picked it up.
@GTAIVFan17 All you can do for an animal or person in the midst of a seizure is try to move potential obstacles out of the way. You have to let the seizure run its course. You can't hold them down or pick them up, as you could injure them or yourself in the process. Call the vet/doctor immediately afterward. And definitely don't leave someone in a seizure alone! In the event that they pass out and stop breathing or fall and get hurt, you may have to resuscitate/treat them.
my cat just died of haveing seizures happened last sept 09 first took her to the vets was ok and last week she had a seizure an then constantly had one evey 2 mins and died
it is clear that he has an attack. Just go to the vet. And as another attack, you have to leave him alone. Because you sit on it allows you to generate a new attack.
letting the cat flop around against a hard floor & wall has more chance of injury than helping it- the towel i mentioned is to keep you from being clawed/bitten and though it may still happen it's still worth helping the cat.
PLEASE help your cat through these seizures by holding her down- have towels in certain areas you can grab fast to protwect yourself from claws and teeth. that thrashing about will eventually cause a serious injury. My cat also these seizures, until one time I wasn't home to help her and did some spinal chord damage and started losing function in her back legs.
It's a neurological problem, and WILL get worse and more frequent, whether you've seen another one or not- they DO NOT just stop.
The LAST thing you want to do during a seizure (no matter whether it's a cat, dog, or a human) is hold them down! The convulsions are so strong that the muscles contracting can actually break bones if they're held down. Barring that, they could unknowingly injure YOU in their convulsions.
As upsetting as it is to watch a beloved pet (or person for that matter) flop around, all you can do is just keep them in a clear space and make sure they don't injure themselves.
butterflytigress1985 is right; holding the cat down can lead to strained/sprained muscles.
instead of watching your cat flop around in a clear space though, hold fluffy up by his/her scruff and let the seizure run its course. this way, the cat won't be able to inadvertently hurt itself or scratch you.
this is what we did for the epileptic cat we had growing up and she lived to be 18.
This is a seizure. If the cat were to remain completely still and not fight it, it would just shake violently. However, since it is terrified and trying to fight this scary sensation it tries to flee the situation, thus jumping and flipping around madly. We had a small bobcat kitten that did this and he often flipped one foot in the air. He also froze in exhaustion afterward, a classic sign of siezure activity.
I would bring him to the vet if he continues to do this.
I really don't have any expertise with these things, but it doesn't look like a seizure to me. My dog sometimes has a bad itch on it back, or any part of it's body it cannot reach, and she rolles over to try and get it.
It looked more playful to me, but the other reasons posted in the comments seem reasonable. I hope she's okay ^^ Seems like a little case of kitten anxiouty. Good luck!
My cat has seizures as well. He has had four of them that I know of. He doesn't roll over like that, but he spasms violently for 30-60 seconds. Afterwards he is very tired and confused, and sometimes breathes loudly with his mouth open and tongue out. A few hours and a nap or two later he is back to normal. What your cat is doing looks like a seizure of sorts to me, because if he were just 'freaking out' I would think he would at least be responsive.
My blind cat just had it's first seizure, I fucking freaked out... I was so worried about her.. lasted about... 25 seconds.. scariest thing I seen her do...
i'm a veterinarian for 14 years. from my professional diagnosis and experience, your cat is clinically retarded and should be crucified and burned while being pissed on by kermit the frog.
I work with children with epilepsy and to me that looked like a seizure, as opposed to just rough energy burning play that cats do sometimes. Especially because it didn't acknowledge or try to scratch when you stroked it during. Also it appeared quite disorientated right after. If this happens regularly you really need to take it to a vet.
i don't think this is a seizure... at least in people, there's usually a post-ictal (post-seizure) phase of lethargy and confusion... and this cat looks like he perks right back up
Wow. The ignorance of people never ceases to amaze me.
Well, I'm not going to argue with some ignorant brat over the internet. I just like to help people (not YOU, in particular. You're nothing special.) stay informed.
Hopefully someone with a little common sense who doesn't want to be abrasive and stupid will read my comment and take my advice, should they ever need it. That's all I was commenting for in the first place.
I'm the same with facts/info,etc. And you are right, clearing the area of objects that may harm it is definitely the right thing to do. Treat the animal the same as you would a human having a seizure, although with a human you can place a cushion under their head so they don't hit it against the floor during the seizure.
Unfortunately, there isn't as much we can do in terms of comfort for an animal. :( It is sad so I hope the kitty is fine now.
I'm not saying you should leave the room or something. The cat should be supervised before AND after the seizure. A cat is not mentally aware of what is going on during a seizure, either, so having you there holding it down is not going to be of any consolation to it. It is after the seizure that you need to be with the cat and comfort it.
Also, there was absolutely no reason for you to be so rude. I know what I'm talking about and I was just trying to help.
my cat did this once.she wasnt having a seizure, just trying to get her fatass under the damn door. now your cat, is probaly having mental/physical problems.
Could be caused by a head injury, brain tumor or some other things. Go to the vet for diagnosis and treatment. An MRI and vet neurologist would be the next step but it's expensive. Try to prevent the cat from injuring itself if you can. I've been caring for a seizure prone cat that I found sitting on the roadside over 7 years ago. She was probably stuck by a car. She has a "safe" room with padding around the baseboards for while I'm out at work.
They've put this video on for education. My cat has just done this & all these videos on here have helped alot. Except people like you with your stupid remarks. What, are you some big though guy driving a 4x4/V8 thinking his a real man?? Get a life moron.
My cat does this same thing and i can definitely tell you this is a seizure. Whenever my cat gets excited or anxious, she starts flailing, and jerking just like that. My cat is 16 years old and has done this probably a dozen times. She has bitten me twice, REALLY HARD, so don't like get your hands near the cat when this is happening, it freaking hurts!
eff i know exactly what u mean it hurt so much when he bit me, some one said my cat was chocking so i was the only one with the nuts to go in after whatever it was. turns out he was having a seizure and my finger got all torn up.
yeah thats a seizure, my cat has them. it looks familuar. the vet says its not out of the ordinary between 1-3 yrs old. he says to keep track of how long it last and how often. its really sad. oh and he said to pull the cat away from hard objects like metal, table legs, walls etc...
PLease, you need to show your Vet this tape...even if it has stopped. This could be permanant neurological damage, or even a brain, spinal cord tumor that may come back at some poin. Please just show your vet...if for anything..peace of mind??
The person that shot this video knew Exactly what was happening. YOU are the Idiot that agrees this kind of video is Ok for everyone to see. I work for the SPCA and I am Against it. So You Need to Shut the F-Up!

Maybe I was his bad dream. lol He was only about 2 mo old there and was scared of me b/c he was a stray kitten. Whatever it was, he stopped rolling like that. (Thank goodness!) I do think he had some kind of neurological damage though. His right iris (the black of the eye) is always bigger than the left.
Aww, he's very cute^^ But if his right eye is bigger than the left, it may be a brain tumor... I'm not quite sure, but I heard in a program or something, that if one eye is always bigger than the other, it could be a brain tumor... :( I hope I'm wrong, but it might be best to take him for a check up at the vet^^
He doesn't exhibit those symptoms anymore. :) I think he was just really anxious, malnourished and had some kind of neurological damage. He had slight right side paralysis when we found him.
when he does that keep him off his back try and hold him down because he may be having a seizure...and if so the last place he needs to be is on his back because he could swallow his tongue
@whykiki0103 i really hope you didnt try holding him down!! thats the worst possible thing you could do. youre supposed to move stuff out of the way and let it finish. i hope someone told you this before i did.
Cats cannot swallow their tongue during a seizure. When a cat is having a seizure, the best thing to do is to leave it alone, and if possible, try to clear the area of things the cat could fall off of or run into during the seizure. A cat could seriously injure itself or the person who is trying to help it if it is touched during the seizure.
lol I don't think he was having fun.(I wish he was) He was a very malnourished stray kitten and he was so afraid of me. He'd start rolling like that when I tried to hold him. This only happened about 4 times in 2 days.
I wouldn't know because he didn't like me much at that time. :) He was only about 2 mo old and we had rescued him about a week before. I think he had "seizure like activity" b/c he was so malnourished.
looks like his playing to me.. but dont trust my word

=D That looks like my cat. He would do that but not toosing like that. He would like roll gently. It looks like he is having fun actually

lol I don't think he was having fun.(I wish he was) He was a very malnourished stray kitten and he was so afraid of me. He'd start rolling like that when I tried to hold him. This only happened about 4 times in 2 days.

My cat sometimes does the exact same thing.
It's a seizure.

It looks like a seizure, you really should see a vet to check for any underlying causes. Good luck.

Yes, that looks like a seizure.
My Smokey has had a few, and more violent that that.
When your cat came to was he disoriented and hissed at you like you were someone he'd never seen?
Just hold him down gently, on a slick floor preferably, and pet him when he comes to.

I wouldn't know because he didn't like me much at that time. :) He was only about 2 mo old and we had rescued him about a week before. I think he had "seizure like activity" b/c he was so malnourished.

it looks to be a seizure, if or when this happens, hold it down on it's side to avoid it injuring itself and make sure it's on a soft surface.
