I watched THE READER yesterday, it made me cry when she taught herself how to read in jail! I couldnt believe it that her character rather went to jail, then to admit that she's illiterate. Also in REV.ROAD I could feel her character's desperation and pain so much! God she is such an outstanding actress!!!!

No, the above actually IS an interview I did with Kate the first week of December. It's a two camera set-up. One camera as per usual is on the celebrity, in this case Kate, and one camera is on me, the journalist. This is how TV junket are done. The celeb stays put and the journalists revolve as it were. Lena Olin, Stephen Daldry, David Kross were all in other rooms set up the same way, except Stephen & David had THREE cameras. 2 on them & one on me. If this answers, your question.

And Ralph Fiennes was done the day before. All arranged by The Weinstein Co.

I know it's unbelievable to actually be in the same room, albeit for only three minutes or so with this great young woman, but I was. The thrill of a lifetime.

Exactly! And what a long, tortuous journey her character goes through! I saw the film without knowing what was coming and in the beginning sections you know that she's had a hard life, and is deeply conflicted about something in the past, so when she turns up on trial much later, I was totally blown away! And THEN, the conclusion! WOW! The range & depth she was required to portray are almost unfathomable! HOW did she get there, you ask yourself? Magnificent!!!!

I know! I can hardly believe it myself! This past week has certainly been Kate Week! Or the Week of the Kate as she won TWO Golden Globes AND the SAG award for Best Supp. Actress for "The Reader." The Academy finally put her "Reader" performance in the right category, I feel, because she'll win there. Everyone who also loved her OTHER great performance this year in "RevRoad" will HAVE to vote for her there. In Best Actress, lead.

I liked "Rev Road" very much myself. It was on my Top Ten Films list. But I put "The Reader" one slot higher. She is OVERWHELMING in person. You know you're in the presence of a beautiful, smart, fierce, YOUNG screen legend!
