It's not a game you just learn a set way of holding/throwing. It's about practice, consistency and being relaxed in your throw. Then there's a chance it just won't suit you full stop.

However, I would be the first to admit that the sport isn't that popular over here and most people don't even know that there are regulations for how to set up a board. You should never have any finger on the Shaft because you can easily knock of your flight and the dart won't be thrown accurately, you should always have all your fingers on the barrel, and if you want to learn how to throw a dart by watch a video you should watch pro's light Phil Taylor, Raymond Van Varneveld, and James Wade. But the best way to learn is to Throw.

What a complete fool. Please take this video down and do everyone a favor. The regulation distance is 7 ft. 9" 1/4 inch from the bulls eye, and 5 ft. 8 inch to the bulls eye from the ground. Not 10 ft to 12 ft! Your "stem" and "stud" LOL would be called the "shaft and the "barrel". Why would you do a video based on dart advice when you couldn't be more wrong yourself.

What total garbage!!!!!!!! There is not one thing that he said that was correct or would be helpful to anyone. First, the proper distance for steel tip darts is 7' 9-1/4", and 8' for soft tip....(10-12 feet?? Is this guy on crack??) Next, don't ever hold a dart like that. There's no way you can possibly throw it accurately that way. The video gets worse from there on. I've been throwing darts for 20 years. Don't listen to a thing this crackhead has to say. PLEASE.

BDO is 7ft9 1/4 and the toe line is 5ft8 roughly, he is holding the dart wrong as well. Been playing County Darts for a while and I even know more than this twat...I always throw from the ear.....and always hit what I am wanting.......just a word.....leave it to the pros pal....clearly u aint.

Please, man, for the sake of people who are actually wanting to learn to play darts and are looking to youtube for help, just delete these videos. You are just going to confuse these poor kids who are really wanting to learn... They're going to watch your videos and go to a bar to play and end up very embarrassed because of you.
If you want to learn, watch the monkeyseevideos series on darts. They're not pros but they're good enough to teach you correctly.

Actually it's 7ft., 9 3/4in and I've never seen it vary from place to place... Not 8ft and certainly not 10-12ft... And since he didn't specify, the bullseye is supposed to be 5ft 8in from the ground.
Also, there is no "wrong" way to hold a dart, but if there were, it would have to be the way he says is right.

Actually, ter eare variations, but 10-12 feet is ludicrous. I think they are mainly around 7-8 feet and are probably mostly outdated. You can still however buy the mats with the various oche distances marked on them.

if you listen to what the guy says, he's not saying that the official distance is 10ft. he's saying that at a bar, the line may be between 10-12ft. the bar may or may not be using the "correct" distance. if you are so new to the game that you are watching this video, you don't need to be concerned with the exact distance to the board.

what the fuck is he on about, i've been playing darts for over two years and i can say with a honesty that he is full of shit. he got everything wrong there, the grip (no wrong way to hold a dart i hold it as far forward as possible and i havn't lost in my last 13 league game) the measurement (7ft 9 1/4ins) and the aim (lots of players will bring a dart to eye level but will it in a little to get the airight) if anybody i using these videos to learn how to throw darts DON'T!!!!!

1.) There is no wrong way of throwing a Dart. Everybody is different. You'd need to be mentally retarded to throw one backwards, like come on?!
2.) 10 to 12 feet? I'm sorry pal but professionally, the actual distance from the board is 7ft 9in & 1/4. It is also 5ft 8 from the floor to the bullseye. Your board is to low.
