the movie just blinded everyone into thinking it is great. Dont get me wrong btw, I think it is technically very good just not great. and never the best movie ever
watch more movies. It is superb visually. but that doesnt cut it. it is just another holliwood rehash with some new stuff (pocahontas, dances with wolves). it is too overrated. you know what is going to happen from the start. what cameron did was just capitalize on this enviromentalist wave thats been going on for some years. do you think cameron will donate any of his profits to any enviromental fund or to native americans? no, he did it for money not nature. thats why he´ll make sequels
Everything you said is exactly what i think! its more than good vs evil, its about right and wrong, believing in more than facts and numbers, understanding and loving the world you live in. its about the self entitlement than we humans towards the "lesser" species. Its an experience that uses technology to show us a world that can exist without it. I also like how the navi phrase "I see you" resonates on multiple levels, for us and jake.
This movie made me feel downright awful to be an American (i.e. our past treatment of Native Americans)
I think Jimbo Cameron did a great job of explaining all the "background" of the planet, indigenous people, reason for human involvement without bogging down the plot.
You're right about 3-D, it tore away much of the layers of fiction and gave you the vision depth to forget you were in a theater.
