  • Hi, Ian. With regards to mistake #7: no clear structure. What did you mean by side/sign posts.. how is this done?

  • @MercifulJustice Hi there. The audience always needs to follow you so it's important that you let them know where you are going with your talk. The easy way is to move from one point to another by saying "The next thing I'd like to look at/explore/discuss is........." It's quite a hard transition but it works and keeps people with you. It's also important for when you have gone off track. Hope that helps.

  • thanks!

  • Martin Luther King Jr., oratorical competition this week. I have watched like 10 videos and I'm about to watch more. Lol. Wish me luck!

  • @AGTsings Good luck for the competition. Remember the first thing you have to do is 'get them in the room' with you. The second is 'keep them in the room' by making your talk both interesting and relevant. If I can be of any help please just ask.

  • Good stuff here. I'm tutoring a young man in high school, and he has a presentation to do on the atomic theory. So it isn't a business presentation, but this advice is very useful nonetheless!

  • @mundymanor Thanks for the feedback. I've never done a talk on atomic theory before but I guess the presentation principles are the same!

  • Thanks..

  • Haha, I never compared presentations to a miniskirt before. Thanks for advice.

  • @untouchablescion You are most welcome and the miniskirt analogy usually gets a laugh in my talks too!!

  • Why aren't there any comments on this? I wish I knew this before I had to do an actual presentation myself.

  • @snorrik1981 Thanks for your comment and I hope that it was useful
