@pauography23 wanna go lower(not sure of this) - baritone, if woman - soprano, concert, if man - tenor. OR just choose the one that sounds most pleasing to you (which I personally advise).

@ninjafreak12 He uses a concert ukulele, i've learned all of his songs, they're really easy and good for beginners, I would suggest listening to Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and learning to fingerpick like he does

Wow, kinda surprised all you got for a reply was a no. I mean it took me just a few minutes to find out the uke he plays.

Anyways most of the music he uses a tenor size and from what i read online he uses the Kala brand.

@cruzsongs: You have to tune the baritone DGBE. Its basically a mini guitar, and that's why its so much different than the other ukuleles.

Hi,

I have a soprano ukulele and I just ordered a baritone. Can I still tune the baritone like the soprano, GCEA? Will it sound okay? Or am I supposed to tune it DGBE because it is a larger instrument? If I can use either tuning, should I not tune the last string up an octive? Should I keep it like a guitar?

So the only difference between he soprano,concert and tenor ukulele is the size... but I'm looking for those ukuleles which brazilian people use to play their brazilian music...that means the only difference between those 3types an the brazilian sound, is how they are tuned?

@Fileno93 the instrument you're looking for is a cavaco, or cavaquinho. thats the kind you hear in all the samba music. it looks like a uke, but its not. it gets more volume and a slightly different sound. the most common tuning is DGBD.

It looks like the Lanikai S-T tenor, the Kala KA-ST tenor and the Cordoba La Playa tenor are the cheapest solid tops. As I understand it Lanakai and Kala are produced by the same company and Cordobas are very hit and miss. What would you suggest?

Might you do a string comparison? In particular, I wonder which brand has an "A" string with the longest sustain, since the thinner string has less sustain than fatter ones.
