  • How old was Sandra Dee when she filmed this movie? she sure looks much younger than 16 to me!

  • @bluecind5 I looked it up once, I want to say like 15? I forgot though.

  • "Francie, shut off that infernal racket!" LOL, man, people thought rock 'n roll was such a bad influence, if they only knew what was coming! And I love the pajamas and nightgowns women wore back then - I love going to thrift stores to find some second-hand ones!

  • notice she only had to take a little from the 21.50 to buy all that food, now it would have taken more than that amount

  • ette step on it moondoggie before it bit ya. lol

  • @MissThang0427 ....look back to 1905. they went in. fully clothes

  • If this was made today, when Gidget says, "Why don't I like dates?" the modern Political Crappyness answer would be, "Maybe you should try with other women."

  • @BigOldScout Sadly true

  • I just can't believe how moondoggie had his face in her ass! thats wierd.

  • Gidget is hot why don't any of them like her? Idiots...

  • @PeaceUdo Too skinny, no doubt. haha. it's the opposite now....

  • cute girl

  • "She's in deep enough already"-Moondoggie. LOL!

  • im amazed at how much moondoggie takes care of her!!!

  • "no wonder they call it the lost generation!" great quote

  • aw man i love her bathing suits. i like the yellow the best!

  • @Kevinmichaelwilliams

People were more honest back then as a whole and you could trust your neighbor to keep an eye out and watch your back. There was a lot more innocence in peoples lives and the parents were used to it being even more so, therefore some were also naive. Like they say "Back then we didn't have to lock our doors", most people still left their keys in the ignition of their car, especially in rural areas.

  • I like her bathing suits...i'm a one piece sorta person...so I like to see these cute bathing suits

  • i like the giget's cardigon and her purse when she arrives but i'm not digging the guy's short short pant's over the beard belly thing

  • "Boy are you a grouch!" I love that part!!!

  • i want one of those beach cover up jackets so badly!! could anyone tell me where to find some?

  • i just watched the movie....on TV!

its so cute! i loved it!!!!!

  • It's a "coming of age" movie people. She was supposed to appear immature in the beginning!! GREAT movie!

  • SHE WAS 15!!!!!

  • i fail to see the attraction apart from Cliff Robertson these guys come across as brain dead.

  • I moved to West LA in 1968 right before this movie came out. Nobody surfed except at Malibu and it was a curiosity. Stop the car on a Sunday drive up Pacific Coast Highway and see all the surfboards lined up on "The Wall" at Malibu, but nobody in the water. By 1961 it was crowded. This movie started a huge fad. Now surfing is a multibillion dollar industry worldwide. Thanks Gidg!!!

  • the movie came out in 1959!!!!

  • Sorry, I moved to West LA in 1958 not 68 - a typo. I watched it all go down baby. Started body surfing Santa Monica 1960 while going to Brentwood school with the first skateboarders. I started surfing Malibu 1964 watching Dora and the guys that did the stunt work for Gidget. A magical era until 1969 when the floods buried Malibu first point for 2 years. Now I live in New Zealand. It's like California 1959. Deja Vu. No crowds. Cheers!

  • @clarkewi wow, that sounds so exciting! i love the 50's, 60's and 70's! seems like so much fun!

  • @clarkewi

Thats really cool. I wish I lived back then!

  • @pinkminiskirt16 Malibu was a vision of a Utopian. And it was FREE! Open to both boys and girls. You could hitchhike to the beach and all you needed was a pair of trunks. You could borrow boards on the beach and panhandle lunch money on the pier. It was a glimpse into the future. Kathy (Gidget) Kohner should get a monument made in her honour in Westwood Village.

  • she looks quite young...like a 12 year old.

  • They said she was 17.

  • i'm blown away that in this day and age (1959!) decent parents would let their 16 year old girl go play with older boys!

  • @kevinmichaelwilliams A 16 year old was considered more grown up then. A lot of girls were married by then.

  • @kevinmichaelwilliams 2:45 he has his face in her ass

  • @kevinmichaelwilliams you have no faith in humanity

  • @kevinmichaelwilliams movies man lol

  • @kevinmichaelwilliams

The world was considered more harmless back then. At least in the movies.

  • nice
