  • looks like a rain storm coming in.

  • +*****+. Well done from joe gi1jhq

  • hi nice video very good m8 hope to work you guys sometime best 73 sy (M0SIY)

  • Oh for goodness sakes I'm a G8 and I did this and I did that (zzzzzzz) There are many aspects to this hobby but one that should be paramount is the social side, which Simon and his lady, Adam, and Les are more than demonstrating. I know all three and none are what you would call black box operators. Adam is a very competant RF engineer, Simon is involved in many aspects of engineering, and Les has forgotton more than most will ever know on the subjects of RF design and true RFDSP 73 G0NIG

  • PS...was you driving through Shipley on the Vid???

Steve DL1YAL (The Yorkshireman in DL )

    DL1 yorkie and loony

  • Hi Steve,

Yep that was Frizighall, Shipley, Saltaire and on to the recently built By-Pass.

The location "Keighley Gate" is up on our side of Ilkley Moor Bah Tat!

Catch you soon my friend via the Sats.

  • @2e0hts

great video. try this echolink repeater 145.410

  • @2e0hts

Eyup Si...i was watching the vid again and was pleasantly surprised to hear Paul G4JJN from Bradford in there. I'd heard of Paul because, as far as I can remember, he was pretty big on the Karate scene in Bradford years ago. As you know, Kempo Karate is also my second love..it's a small world :O)

  • Rubbish. This is what happens when plastic black boxes are combined with cornflake packet free issue "ham" radio licences are issued. This is no different to CB. If these chaps had designed, built and aligned this equipment, it may have some validity, but I'm afraid this is a waste of electron movement.

    John G8D**

  • Never Mind, you'll get over it. Hope to hear you on so we can hear how things are done properly and perhaps you could be brave enough to give your full call sign next time Sucker! Next time you go to whitby maybe you could become even wetter.

  • I'm sure you're right about getting wetter Simon. Thing is, it's so easy to get a "ham" licence these days, it is no different to a cb licence. Space here doesn't permit, but I have no objection to a reasonable chat on the subject. All I am saying is that what you are perveying as amateur radio gives a false impression to people who have more cells than an amoeba. There are still many people who design & build stuff who resent your approach.

  • So what have you built recently..... and does it perform as well, or is as filtered as well as a decent off the shelf modern transceiver?

    I think not.

    Go away.

  • @astronut250

    G8 - - - Ah-ha a class "B" Licence holder, not good enough for a Class A then???

It's bigoted Hams like you that are going to cause the hobby to die. There are not enough newbies coming in to the hobby, and if thats the sort of reaction they get from crusties like you, "cornflake packet free licence" then I'm not surprised?

M6-M3-2E etc are the next generation of Hams, deal with it or sell your gear.

What can I say? Make comments, and remove the right to reply by blocking the user - how smug you must be. Regardless, here is my reply to you and all Simons sycophantic admirers:

If you think that these video clips represent the spirit of amateur radio then your welcome to it.. Off you go then, you silly child.... (and take your ridiculous hats with you - I bet you have your callsigns embroidered on them, don't you? he he he...)

    LMFAO

  • Hi Simon - Great video again - amateur radio out and about, which is the best. I used to enjoy the PW QRP contests in the UK - I was 15th one year single op with my FT817 and 9ele Tonna, and the lowest altitude entry from a very flat Cambridgeshire! 73 - Rob VK2GOM / G0MOH

  • Hi Rob,

Thanks again, I enjoy mobile and portable radio a lot! I work down into Cambridgeshire regularly during RSGB VHF Contests (tonight).

I also worked VK7ROY and VK6MV this morning on 20m around 0700utc using my Ft-767 and home brew Delta loop with 50W. Maybe might hear you one of these mornings?

    73 good DXing

  • Catch you Wednesday @ 8PM Simon,Cheers ...DAVE (M0OGY)

you are welcome to join us any time your in the area! All the best & thanks for commenting and watching!

Regards from all of us ;-)

  • @2e0hts hi simon great video in the spirit of radio i though the whole idea of amateur radio was to talk to other stations all over the world regardless of what the limitations of the call sign allows ie power output m3 m6 10 watts ? and this is the very attitude that puts new licensed operators off from calling out on air due to the m phobia of are friendly G old boy operators their are better operators with more class on 11 metres who by the way are incensed ham operators ! 73 s mark

  • @128mark sorry that last message should have been licensed ham operators ! slip of the fingers lol keep up the great work simon and keep us newbies interested with are corn flake incense ps i wonder if i can pick up my 2eo in a packet of shreddies am of to have a look regards mark

  • @128mark you sould install a cb radio in your vehicle too so you can monitor the cb band as
