  • I don't think any of them are the originals-

  • While I get that some of them are wearing Nehru jackets, the guy on the far right looks like he's wearing a hospital gown.

  • great song - just enjoy it

  • Didn't the old drummer die in the 80s of cancer?

  • i remember mr. king playing good guitar .... but that's about it!

  • Old guys rock!!!

  • This was great, thanks for posting.

  • I went to High School with one or two of the members of the band Strawberry Alarm Clock. Central Pennsylvania 60"s

  • Great song, seriously ... but nine guys and this is the best they can come up with. The vocals are horrible for one thing! Time to put it away gents. Wow!

  • @asimoni ah! Come on!, yes they're old, but seriously, the vocals are just perfect...

  • When a band like STRAWBERRY ALARM COCK or ANY other band from the 60s or 70s gets tgether and perfom just,,,, shut the hell up and ENJOY THE MUSIC. Its TOOOOOO DAMN GOOD for ANYONES noise to be heard. THIS SONG IS AWESOME , what, 40 yrs later?????? HEL YEAHHHHHHH

  • I didn't know that Drew Carey was in this band.

  • that drummer looks diff than the orig blonde one...he looks like a drummer who once played in a hot SoBay group in the mid '60's...they played Gardena/Torrance/Hermosa areas....

  • strawberry alarm clock was a great song back in the 60's but the alarm clock needs to be turned off now.

  • @YOU2UUB You are stupid. SAC is the name of the group, not the song. And let them keep going as long as they can! I doubt kids today will want to see Justin Bieber when all turns 60.

  • Love the extended guitar solo at the end...

  • Incense and peppermints of course are refferences to how to cover up the smell of pot

  • @MrBuc128 wow, never knew this, and I'm 63 years old, learn something new every day...

  • @TheStatue1 Are you being sarcastic?

  • @MrBuc128 Absolutely not. (Pardon my Ignorance)

  • Wow, they've still got it, 40 years later?!! Dang they're great ! One of my favorite songs.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah they still have it for sure...

  • fkng brutal

no other words to describe that joke

  • yes its Ed King!! a complete reunion..right?

  • what did all of 6 people show up for this ? listen at :25 that place is fucking empty

  • @chickennone If you don't know about the time or weren't born yet perhaps you should keep your comments to yourself

  • @700kotchi I know enough to know these are a bunch of old farts trying to reclaim a moment of fame from 50 years ago.

  • Good show..

  • incomparable...

  • Epic reunion fail O_O Horrible! D=<

  • horrible ... never got better, like most groups do, especially their singing ... all off key ... maybe a little better playing guitar ... DON'T QUIT YOUR DAY JOBS!

  • I remember meeting Ed King (lead Guitar) at the Dune close to Mugu Rock on California Hwy1 around my freshman year at Camarillo High School. I didn't really believe him till I saw them perform on TV the next month. We used to hike to the top of the sand dune on the north side of Hwy 1 and hang out till early morning.

    Am I showing my age/

  • The sound is horrible at this place. This is one of my favorite songs, but if they really sound like this in person...blah.

  • To bad they had no close ups of Ed King ... hell ... he wrote the song.

  • @rucleen Yes Ed King wrote the song along with keyboardist Mark Weitz, who did not get credit

  • Thank God for Viagra, Lipator and maybe a Heart By-Pass or two!

  • My band use to cover this song during the 60's among many others. I have to say the music on this video sounds terrible. Nothing like it was played on the record. If you are going to play this song do it right. If not don't play it at all I feel. More practice to do what they did years ago might of helped. I have to say I am disappointed. I rather listen to the original on an old 45 anyday of the week then listen to this again. .

  • @ffas23

dood theres a big difference between playing badly and bad accoustics/setup. the accoustics clearly suck in that venue and none of the levels appeared to be proper for the instruments. You can't really blame the band for that. I hate when people mistake a bad setup for a poor performance.

  • @0verload

Well Dude trust me I can hear the difference even though played live. The Music was played much differently. These guys many not being original band members improvised plenty in this song. It's terrible and has nothing to do with bad accoustics. I was around back in the day when this song came out. As I mentioned earlier my band back in the 60's covered this song. I know what I am talking about.

  • ur a dumb ass they were the best ever,u don't know anything..

  • roger ebert, the film reviewer?

  • I'm sorry, but although I love the tune and partied my ass off when it came out, these guys should have spent another month rehearsing before taking the stage and tarnishing their legacy. I would be just as critical of anyone this ragged.

  • second that :/ they sound like a bunch of kids in thier garage here

  • It`s a very nice song you know!!!!!I will not say anything other because I do not speak english!

  • Great video, but WHY??

  • wow they still sound amazing

  • Damned good!

  • They forgot to end in La, la la la.....

  • btw, this sounds better than a lot of groups trying to play this song in the 70's... everybody did their own thing and called it a "freakout"

  • Is that Ed King (of Lynyrd Skynrd) on lead guitar? I heard an interview he did that says he wrote this song.

  • Seems like about half of them forgot how to play and sing.

  • How many of therse guys are original? The drummer was the singer of this song originally. Sounds like they could have used a rehearsal. The music and harmonies are all over the place!

  • Come man, this song was released in the mid 1960's, they were barely out of the teens when they originally recorded this Masterpiece, there is such thing as "age", and they are not touring, and you are right, not all of them are the original members, But it was and is a great song!

  • Oh, it is a marvelous song. Dont get me wrong. I am glad to see they are trying to keep the group alive. It was just too bad they didnt rehearse, that's all.

  • I happen to know the bass player(original), and this concert was the first time they had played together in years. So...if sorcerer666 thinks he could do better with a song he wrote 50 years ago...good luck! I think it's very impressive.

  • I agree!!!!!!

  • People trying to relive the glory days. Now adays, in England they are trying to relive the 90's ; particulary the Stone Roses. People didn't know what they had until they didn't have it anymore.

  • The 90s pretty much sucked compared to the previouse 3 decades.

  • I like the 90's, particularly the Stone Roses because it harkens back to the past decades and how brillant the music from times past is. If you haven't listened to the Stone Roses you should; it is a perfect example of the brillance of the last three decades. It isn't that the 90's sucked, its how brillant the last three decades are; The Greatful Dead, Eddison Lighthouse, The Byrds, The Rolling Stone, the Beatles and so on.

  • im in my 40 so yaknow. I take that comment back, bands like cracker and chili peps and such really were innovative! Many more also. Stone Roses eh? Ill check em out thanks.

  • I truely believe if you love some of the bands that I mentioned you love the Stone Roses. Definetely try them! They were something. My favorites are 'waterfall', 'sugarspun sister' , 'made of Stone' just to name a few. They are considered the most influential band from England in the last thirty years.

  • Eddison Lighthouse, wow someone else remembers them! Cool.

  • This is VERY sad... apart from the (non original) lead singer vocal being way off key, the song is missing the main ORGAN part which was what made it memorable.... It's amazing how all these years later they cannot do it as least as good as the original. Please RETIRE fellas!

  • Did you notice the main singer was NEVER shown? He dropped out of the band before this song became a hit and its been a lip synch ever since ---

  • I love these guys!

  • actually that sucked....half the importance of the song is the ending....the Moog or B3 or whatever and the 'sha la la'. They instead did a shitty guitar masturbation. Lame.

  • yeah, the ending was a huge part of the song,

and i agree that guitar soloing business was an insult to the song.

  • Thank you, Roger Ebert.

  • Those were the days!

  • Geezers of rock.

  • But they're out making $ playing music. And, they're still good. What does that make you? Let's see you play something 1/4 as good or stfu.

Good to see Ed King out there again.

  • we use to drive our parents crazy , i think that song came out around the same time the white album by the beatles came out , come on young generation we need a revolution peace out

  • @jrguitarstar we did have one, it was called rap/hip hop...

  • correct, totally. Like they were trying to burn through it. This is common w/these psychedelic-era groups....they're getting paid by the song, pretty much.

  • Its still my favorite song from the sixties

and it still sounds good today. Its nice to see that they " Still Have It" and the extended parts at the end made that short song even better

    Thanks

  • @rockadelphia Hi, I'm from Philly, too..

  • @rockadelphia .... need your ears checked, immediately!

  • Yikes! Obviously everyones mic wasn't in the monitors, nor were the guitars. But hey!!.....they got paid.

  • did they practice before they shot this video?

  • I have the same question...

  • Howie rocks !!

  • Was Ed King playing on this clip? If so, which one was he?

  • Ed is 3rd from left, dressed in black! ....playing the solo at 1:35! :)

  • Hmm...they "sorta" still got it.

  • gawd, they look so uncool now..

  • the beginning doesnt soundnothing like the song

  • OK so how old are these dudes now?...like in their 50's??....wow that would be probably 110 in drug years! LOL....seriously though...any tunes these guys cranked out were from the heart and for the times! Drop out and drop in bros!!

  • Most of these guys are in their 60's, darlin'! The lead singer is a bit younger; he was 16 when the song was originally recorded--nobody wanted to sing what they thought were really stupid lyrics, so they bagged a high-school student! Anyway, guys like SAC and Electric Prunes, instead of drinking martinis on the golf course, are touring and playing on a mission to save the youth of America from American Idol, Britney and all that other crap. May they live long and prosper!

  • Surprising that they can still function (drugs and all).

    I love this song.

  • It's not surprising at all that they can function just fine, they most likely were into lsd which if you have no mental conditions to start with then you will be fine from doing it. I know people who used to drop acid and are currently in university and have insanely high marks.

  • You're right. I've done it before. I just assumed they did lots as they were rock stars.

But I'm surprised by musicians a lot lately. Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden, for example, screamed at a bunch of fans at a concert for smoking pot.

  • La la la laaaa la la la laaaaaaaaa

  • i know this song!

  • It's great to see these guys performing again! Thanks for posting this.

  • It's obvious they haven't played together in many many years. Not in sync at all.

  • Need dualing cowbells to make this come alive! Glad I'm still alive. Remember this in Jr.Hi. and had record, thought was real hip. Anybody have meaning of lyrics? Guess a little to old now to make difference. Groovy, Baby. Far out! May be I will ask Joe the Plumber, seems to be sage in all things revelent except he can't plumb. Speaking of which, well water hard on plumbing valves. even washerless. Priorities change since Strawberry Alarm Clock, blue cords and Madras shirt were top of

  • Incense and peppermints are most likely a reference to covering up up smoking weed. Incense to hide the smell, peppermints to make their breath nice. They also say turn on tune in which is in reference to what timothy leary said turn on, tune in, and drop out. Which is in relation to shunning mainstream society and of course embracing the use of lsd.

  • More cowbell!

  • lol steve bartek looks like he's wearing a dress over there in the corner. anyone know who's drumming??

  • That would be Randy Seol on drums AND lead vocals.

  • keep the classics alive i am 55 years old and can play too love it

  • I saw these guy's a few years ago, they played with: "Country" Joe McDonald, Big Brother & The Holding Company, Moby Grape, Jefferspn Airplane and Iron Butterfly. Great concert.

  • MORE COWBELL!

  • The guy in the white shirt is my brother and he is from Anderson,sc. His name is Gene Gunnels and was the original drummer that was with the band when they were the Sixpence. Do some research and you will find out

  • it's great to see these guys together as with any great american band from the past,it seems no matter how old these guys get they still sound great and sometimes even better.remember this is live and it is hard to get a perfect sound, they were still great!!

  • I like the chubby on the red Fender... ((Yep, I am, and know what I am talking about.))

  • That is Ed King, who was Lynyrd Skynyrd's 3rd guitarist on their first 3 albums. He co-wrote Sweet Home Alabama.

  • They all needed to simply trip maybe.... any kind of moral police, please back off please.....I asked kindly.

  • These guys tripped long before u were shiitin ur pants lol.

  • ....i prefer the original

    the reunion needed more POWER

    but i liked it

  • never too old to rock! cool vid

  • too many guitars there

  • Saw reunions like this on PBS in recent years. Nice to see everyone is still alive but boy does it make us feel OLD.

  • is that Bobby Heenan?

  • Great to see them back, but, where's the love. Sounds contrived.

  • What happened to Gregg Mumford? Does he sing the song ever?

  • yeee ed king kicks ass

  • Sha la la...

  • Cant hear the vox continental at all! the best part of the song!

  • they still got it!!!

  • Trippy 60's immortalized

  • YES!!!!! This song rocks!!!!! Love this song. It's great to see them on the magic of the internet. Brings me back to my young days...wait..i'm only 25. still, this song kicks ass!!

  • they're alright

  • Do you people realize that's ED KING, original member of Skynyrd also Rock & Roll Hall of Famer with Skynyrd. Do your homework..Ed could still blow all of you youngsters out of the water..Great classic song..Show some respect!! Most of you got your riffs from these bands anyway!! Alright ED...

  • 2nd on that. Was Ed an original member? also do you know if Jim Pittman, the original lead guitarist is playing on this video? Thanks

  • That was unprovoked!!

  • It wasn't a pipe organ on the original..It was a Vox.. and this is one of those bands and songs that should have left well enough alone.

  • Aw, cut 'em some slack. It's not like they're doing a world tour, just some old friends getting together for a small jam and some good memories.

  • I wonder if the singer is the original kid!

  • Well it was good back in the day.

  • old farts still got it ;)

  • Needs more cow beell

  • Something's missing here

  • the pipe organ that they used

  • Great jam at the end!! Rock on!

  • yeah man it sounds like there are 3 guys playin for most of the song.

  • This is kinda' funny.

This was such a hip song in the 60's and now they probably have mini-vans parked in the driveway and shop at Costco.

  • muhahahah ur awsome dude

  • well yea, they were a one hit wonder

  • theres like 9 guys on that stage......how come i dont hear it....c'mon fellow musicians ya hear what im sayin??????

  • Good 40 years ago.

  • I've heard this song somewhere

  • its in the first Austin Powers movie

  • this is why there a one hit wonder

  • Wow they're still rock...and this very good...incedible :D

  • this is awsome there still the same as ever even though there like 60 great band

  • Nice!!

  • It seems complicated to get the magic in this song. Do any other groups try? The vocals seem difficult and don't flow naturally.

  • It's because they haven't probably played the song in a reallly long time. And their gear is different. they probably sold all their old stuff.

  • baah.. what happened to the ending??? the "la la laa" best part in the song for cryinä out loud :/

  • It's because all the guys live in California except for Ed who lives back some where back east. He did perform with them in Champaign, Illinois recently.

  • why won't Ed be with them. Might he be with them in future gigs?

  • It's because all the guys live in California except for Ed who lives some where back east. He did perform with them in Champaign, Illinois recently

  • I think Ed King is the guy wearing glasses next to the bass player

  • The band I think might be doing some more reunion shows, but Ed King I don't think will be part of them. We'll have to wait, hope and see.

  • Holy Shit they are old as fuck

  • Do the math: 40 years ago, assuming an average age of 25 at that time..all are in their sixties...but they sound great!

  • These guys are incredible! 40 years and still shreading. Guitars are great, keyboards too! Wow!!!
