  • @SuperQuickStick Doesn't really make any difference to what I mentioned. Much too little water to really keep koi to their genetic potential.

  • @SuperQuickStick If I'm not mistaken, 150 gallons is not even half a ton of water. In this kind of volume, you would be better off rearing other fish like goldfish. Koi will grow large. Maybe your 6 koi will survive, but they won't be happy and they will hardly grow.

  • man i got a buzz by looking at that video, and awesome tip, ill have to try it sometime, koi look imaculate

  • Beautiful Kois there! helpful clip.

  • Sick koi !!!

    I wish I had a pond :/

  • nice koi they look nice!

  • @Callofduty4nub Thank you.

  • how ddep is this pond? excellent water quality!

  • @sugikogi Thank you, sugi. The pond depth was reduced from 7 feet to 4 feet during my pond renovation about 17 months back.

  • How many fish are in your pond?

  • DONT STARVE THOSE BEAUTIFUL FISH

  • NICE KOI LOVE THE SHOWA

    HOW BIG IS YOUR POND?

  • @fishmanjack1 50 tons. Which showa do you like? The ginrin or the kindai?

  • these wonderful beauties deserves HD...

  • What koi farm did you get your koi?

  • Where are Your benigois Bred? are they Japanese,Local ,chinese or what??

  • They were locally bred from Momotaro parents. I've given one away already. Do you want the other one? She's probably 66cm now. But your Dad has to give me a couple of cakes/chicken pies... :-P

  • Not a problem. when do u want? I would love your benigoi very much!

  • Let me grow her another few months to 70cm first. In the meantime, your pond has a chance to settle down and stabilize.

  • good idea. but my only concern is whether it will bully the smaller Koi?? what do you Think??

  • Big kois NEVER bully small kois, although a small koi may initially feel intimidated amongst a school of big kois. Big kois are more tame and relaxed. In fact small koi sometimes bully bigger kois when it comes to feed time. Small koi rush for the food. Big ones don't. Leader koi like chagoi are always very tame and tend to be the biggest fish. Relax.

  • Thanks. But Dont You Think My Pond being Only 2.5 Tons is a little too small for her?

  • Oh, didn't realise it was that small. Then maybe you'd better not take her. It would be quite claustrophobic.

  • I agree. sama-sama. :-)

  • @hooinc

my maruten kohaku, about 35cm, always pushes my tancho sanke and yamabuki, both around 9-10 inch, up closer to the surface, it just dont want them to be in the deep water, this happens usually after feeding

  • hey hooinc

just wondering if your oldest sanke is losing her Sumi. I love sankes they are my favorite Gosanke!!!

  • Her sumi was never really up, she has always had this tategoi look. I think she didn't really develop due to a swim bladder disorder that hit her during a bad New Pond Syndrome 2 and a half years ago when my water was opaque for 3 months. Swims funny to this day.

  • Wow, you have some great koi!

  • Thanks, Clarke.

  • @hooinc They really are killer. I saw some great koi at the Nishikigoi of Niigata harvest this past fall. I will post some videos soon. Check them out. There was an 88cm Kohaku on day 3 that was unbelievable. Great system you have too.

  • stunning koi .. lovely water ...the shiro is a cracking koi ..i really like it :o)

  • Thanks, Maxine. She's in her ninth year already.

  • Are the Koi Still Happy After You Reduced The Feed??

  • Sure.

  • One Of My Koi Died Today :( A Female Platinum Ogon. :(

  • Sorry to hear about that.

  • Thank You. :-)

  • i guess the struggle paid off paul.now i've decided to renovate my filter for my main pond after your design but at smaller scale...:-)...anyway i thought someone might notice it,but nobody did...hehe.your fourth overflow is just beside your constant trickle outlet.i think a percentage of the new water would just be wasted out thru the 4th overflow instead of going to the pond.maybe transferring the trickle after the bakki would be better.

  • True Don, hehe. Lazy to relocate the old 4th overflow to the pump chamber where I was advised it should be. It's at the opposite end on the far left!

  • very clear ,so you have a new ginrin doitsu chagoi,Is it female or male

also what up with the orange ogons

  • The ginrin doitsu chagoi is female, as are the 2 locally bred benigois. Will probably cull the 2 benigois soon. They were part of a local grow out.

  • Is The Ginrin doitsu chagoi the smallest koi so far? How big is It?

  • 56cm, yes smallest for now but not for long, I suspect.

  • Nice! My Smallest and newest koi Is a Shiro Utsuri. Its about 7 inches long. Just Got It today for RM 10.

  • Congrats. Guess it's a local bred. Do you get bloated tummies on your locally bred koi as they get older?

  • Ya. Its A Local bred. as are the rest of my kois. Actually i never get a local koi that has a bloated tummy. Even When It Gets Bigger. But When I Went To Sungkai For a Trip To the Hot Springs all the local koi had bloated tummy"s, Exept the Ogons ( See My Koi Video In felda Hot Springs Residence). Also I feed High Quality Aquamaster Spirulina Koi Food. (Preferred Hikari But Sold Out.)

  • That's good to hear. How big is your biggest koi in cm? How long have you kept koi?

  • About 39 cm of course nothing compared to you.

i have kept koi For over 5 years Now. My Older Koi died Due to certain Things Such as jumping out, getting swimbladder problem and etc.... Then Got a New Batch about 3 years ago.

  • That's why folks pay so much more for Japanese koi. The local ones seem to have a problem growing big, and they also seem to have bloated tummy problems.

  • Well As I said, My Local koi dont have bloated stomachs. But local koi are so much Cheaper Than Imported. But of Course Japanese Ones are still higher Quality. and Is It True That Green a(algae water) Improves Skin Quality and coloration???

  • Some people believe so, but I believe there is a flaw in causal reasoning there. Green water helps shield the koi from the heat and direct sunshine. If water is not overly warm and the pond is largely shaded, I do not believe green water helps. Do join a koi forum and ask there. Very hard for me to answer technical stuff here.

  • my gosh... the pond, the water clarity, the fish.....all beautiful, i stand in awe. bravo!

  • Dear Paul, this new pond after renovation........hmmmm very nice. I think you are now a stage higher in keeping water for koi

  • Thanks for your kind comment. We never ever stop learning, ya?

  • Never Paul, i still learn and experiment, we are still far far away to mimic the nature.

  • WTG, Abang Harry ;-)

  • Great Job Great vid As Always! Did you get some New Koi ??

  • Hi CA. Just one, the ginrin doitsu chagoi which was bred by Nippon Koi Farm in Singapore.

  • good job, great vid, fish look amazing as always.
