  • il n'ya personne meilleure

  • Aznavour voice is so unique that no one can sing his songs like he does!

  • Charles is magnificent. Josh is just awesome. Taking the time to learn the lyrics to that beautiful song is amazing.

  • Brilliant duo

  • This is josh groban i love this man

  • Thank you to both artists for your beautiful voices and sharing them with us. A wonderful selection, soothing my soul. God Bless you.

  • Oh my goodness this was very nice....I loved it....

  • Speaking as a singer, it is VERY hard to sing in a language you do not speak, that being said, I think it is a valiant effort, but too much on the nasal... just because it is French does not mean you have to sing through your nose, listen to Arnavour and hear the difference...... but still..... a lovely combination

  • ''fuck you'' c'est la même chose en Francais que ''fuck you'' en Anglais

  • @oxocult ...Are you having a bad day?? Do you need a hug??

  • how cute for Josh singing French with American accent / lol i could not hear the Canadian accent in him

still love both of them sing

  • @wombat831964 Why would u hear a Canadian accent in him? He just said that is born'n bread in Los Angeles, CA.

  • J'ai grandi à cette music.Josh fait un travail fabuleux. M. Aznavour est adéquate. J'aime ce en français.

  • Groban is just another very mediocre singer.

  • @ed131039 Are you kidding me? first listen to his songs and then you gives opinions .... by Josh Groban can not say that it is "mediocre" because he is amazing!!

  • @mamakunem

yes, he sounds better in english,of course, but singing in different languages talks fine from him.

he`s not only manages to woo Latinos, singing in Spanish but also to French and Italian.

and yes yes, i will let the english to you, y el español para mi, :)

  • @mamakunem His French has improved a lot since his first cover of Edith Piaf. I am impressed!

  • Aznavour, thanks for your songs and your incredible voice...

there is no one like you!!!!!!!!

  • so beautiful!!! two wonderful singers, pure talent

  • Can someone explain to me why the tempo Aznavour keeps is much quicker than the original recording? I am aware time has gone by, but even though both singers make a splendid duet I much rather prefer the original recording.

  • so beautiful

  • Josh gets what they say?

  • Viva... what a great duo... Charles is remarkable as usual...

  • LINDO !!!!!!!!

  • Why always some people are so stupid ? the man with glasses it`s a real MO-RON, they are making jokes with the man just because he don't understand all the language

Unfurtunalety they are french. Pity for them. Good work Aznavour, always a gentleman

  • j' ai pas suivit

  • Love love love this - wow

    x

  • hahhaha an American singing in French. Charles Aznavour you are the best.

  • It breaks my heart to see Charles trembling !! Congratulations to Josh who made the effort to sing in French cause our langage is not the easiest one to learn !

  • @Bolidiosevyin French, It`s the most difficult language to learn, even for germans I tried three yeasr but I failt totally.

  • @Guenniistes try Chinese and dream on

  • @Ssendecki I will!

  • @Bolidiosevyin it breakes my heart to but he was 84 and just imagine who'd think that greatly at that age that man lives to sing and i live to listen to his voice

  • @Bolidiosevyin correct :sing that geatly :)sorry l was listening to the song

  • i think josh groban kills the song, personally

  • @antounl are you serious????Groban is making the song exceptional .the old has no more voice ce du passe mon cher ami.

  • poor josh. he looks like he has to really focus on what is being said, at least he can understand... im lost

  • Don't let them disrespect you like that Josh, you are an american for god's sake

  • @Irideika Right on, well said and thank you!

  • Oooo hearing Josh Groban sing French=serious chills!! (of course the good kind) ;D <3 this! it's amazing!

  • ok, wow

  • Maravilhoso !

  • I saw some people were wondering who mireille mathieu was:) she's actually a french singer, but unlike mr aznavour, she's rather old-fashioned... so that's why they go on joking about her. i don't think we should blame Josh for not speaking French. after all, we french people like to criticise english speaking people but most french people are far from being bilingual too. So let's enjoy the music:)

  • @gerastito: Thank you my friend gerastito to share this video with me, Beautiful! love it!

  • super!!!

  • Poor Josh....... Doesn't have a clue what the rest of them are saying hahaha.

  • My god.....I'm going to the same school as this went to kid.

What an honor...it really starts some amazing careers...

  • the expression on charles' face at 4:01 is just priceless

    and the mutual respect... OMG

every new artist should really learn from this video

    Chapeau

  • @fadimaximos Wow, I had not noticed that expression! Thank you for pointing it out! Beautiful! :-)

  • @Irideika

    bien dit

  • C'est tellement doux :3

  • Numbers came originally from India...let's not get too carried away, everyone. All cultures have contributed. What are you personally contributing today?

  • @Irideika ti russki vidna, you are russian as i see,tu é russe,.les pauvres arabe chez eux été la premiere langue la premiere ecriture ,les premiers nombres tous été inventé chez eux,é maintenant aucun ne parlent d eux,c été koi la france avant le 18 eme siecle? rien du tous

  • @rayden1717

I guess you figure I am russian because of my user name? Nope. I am French Canadian.

  • To billace90 : commentaries comes mainly from Quebecers... French-spoken canadians... Not French.

Quebecers have always problems with accents en grammar... from outsiders.

Even french accent are insufferable for they... =)

You should read their coms about singers from Quebec who bright in France... and worse who "catch" French accent.

  • @Irideika "I have to tell you..." - I love the way that les quebecois use this phrase so often. It's a smashing, proper phrase. "Je dois te dire...", "Ní mór dom a rá...".

  • I like Aznavour a lot since my youth and have many of his recordings. But some comments by his compatriots here are just insufferable. My God! I guess there are things that never change......

  • I normally do not find Josh to be a bad singer but this is just AWFUL I do enjoy looking at him though

  • Josh was OK, I got chills every time is as Charles' turn.

  • Both great, Aznavour I love youu.

  • This just shows how hardworking and humble Josh is. Unlike some singers, he will continue to better himself and learn new things. I shall always love you and your music, Josh. Keep up the good work!

  • Josh good job

  • What's wrong with Josh French accent? He did it" and he nail it, good job Josh. I don't know why French people really Make this a big deal, Josh can pronounce properly,? just leave it" okeyhe done a good job.

  • to Tehachi - I am laughing at your comments. Yes, it is cute. Josh kicks butt though. and this coming from an American who can't speak French at all.

  • Oooh!!

I'm impressed !

  • bonne chanson

  • Awwww, first of all I find it so cute how Josh looks like Aznavour's little student! They BOTH have great voices, despite the age difference and the experience of course! It shows how music unites people despite all their differences. Second, I adore this song. Even though my French is not that good, I can FEEL it, because it's sung with great emotion. Music CAN communicate meanings even if the language is not very comprehensive to you, that's what I believe :)

  • @LeenaAga100 and i think you're true, i'm not english but i had always thinking it the only way you must take it .. because we have different culture etc etc but with the music we are the same...

  • Awesome

  • josh <3<3

  • hahahhaha jish's accent is cute

  • Guy's i just have to say this, Chales Azanvour is for me simply one of the best french singers ever excisted, " i have like almost his entire cd collection" i went to see him at least 7 times in concert and i simply have no words to describe the feeling you have when you are in front of a man like that, but i have to say that Josh Groban has one hell of a voice to so i would have to say that he did extremely good with Charles, now i'm buying cd from Josh so.....

  • I think that was weird specially in Josh parts

because aznavour is a good singer but a great storyteller but josh is just a great singer with a voice qualities and everything, it was just Odd

  • Groban does not know the truth about singing. Aznavour is the truth. He sings from the spoken word naturally and freely. Singing to aznavour is as effortless and inate as speaking. Groban comes from the wrong school, that of the sound of the voice. As long as he is caught up with sound he will never know the truth. Some of Aznavour's early recordings are absolutely amazing. For this genius storyteller, the singing and speaking voice are the same. He learned the right knowledge - the true path.

  • How very true. To me, this is like comparing a classic Bugatti to a new Lexus.

  • @neoperseus

I think that is a little unfair - they are both excellent singers of their school and obviously appreciate eachother's talent. But the tradition of the chansonniers is completely and utterly French - Groban would have fallen very flat had he tried and I think would then, and only then, have been fair game for such sniping.

  • Regardless of the singing style normally employed by either singer, this is an Aznavour song and should therefore be sang in his style. In that regard Josh Groban, as talented as he may be, did fall somewhat flat. Mind you I didn't compare Groban to a broken down Fiat, I said he's like a new lexus... somewhat of a complement in my book. I just don't think Groban's smooth young voice evokes much emotion in me the way Aznavour (the classic Bugatti) does.

  • Fair enough. I guess I don't hold lexus in the high esteem you do, and misunderstood - personally I prefer an clapped out cinquecento!

  • @AmhranaiAlainn you have to recognize that Groban is still at the beginning of his career, Aznavour is a genius storyteller not necessarily because he was taught but because he felt most of the emotional turbulances of his period and ours. Groban's story-telling can only improve by being embraced by such legends rather than discarded as an artist from the "wrong school of thought"...

  • @lizong88 Yes, I'm sure Groban's interpretation skills can indeed improve. The other thing is that these days singers are trust onto the world stage very quickly. Aznavour would have had some years under his belt before he became a big star and I think Edith Piaf would have given Aznavour the greatest insight into the art. I don't discard Groban. I think he could be brilliant but only by addressing what he is doing. His voice is lovely - but he does not use it correctly, like say Edith Piaf did.

  • Oh, so amazing! This music is so romantic and with these singers, it was unforgettable!!!!

  • Magnifique !! Quelles voix !

    wow !!!

  • Aznavour is the only one nothing to do josh

  • Magnifique voix.

  • I think, that Groban was not able to sing as bueautifully as aznavour. Aznavour has incredible style, which can't be falsed by any, even great singer.

  • Charles Aznavour is only 5'3". He has been doing this song for about 60 years. He is the singer of the century.

  • Hehe...Josh looks so tall.

  • VIVA ARMENIA

  • Bravo!!!

  • Le mélange des accents..fabuleux! :) quelle voix ce Josh groban ! Et Aznavour..! wow!

  • Oh my Lord! Mon Dieu! His voice is so beautiful! Thank you so much for posting this..

  • Quand il chante?

  • Magnifique!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • no they did very good i like it very good

  • That 'old man' actually is one of tbe grandest chansonniers ever. Merci beaucoup.

  • I simply adore Mr. Aznavour! Josh does alright too.

  • LOOOOOL He forgot the most important word!

"Moi qui criais famine et TOI qui posait nue"

not : "Moi qui criais famine et qui posais nu"

It's definitely not the same XD

  • Just enjoy.!!

  • Another gorgeous song, is Josh singing with Placido Domingo. It is from the book of poetry of the late Pope John Paul11 & in Italian, Gorgeous! Look up Placido & Josh Groban in Amore Infinito. It is the most gorgeous song I have heard! Love JOSH!! and have always loved Placido, too! Another one that is different, is by Ben Folds, Album is "Ten Year Vamp" and he has a duet with Josh on it, called Life is a masquerade. REALLY DIFFERENT!! Great! Qetesh97

  • I have loved Azanavour since I was a small child! He is amazing!

  • la bohemia by egberto g garcia & jorge saade live in spanish version

  • I want to marry Josh!!

    His french...without words..

He's perfect, and beautiful...why don't you come here in Italy=??

  • never thought i could see these too sing La Bohème, (one of the greatest song of all time), together.

Simplement magnfique!

  • God , Aznavour is 84 he said ,. wow ..he looks fantastic for his age .. This was beautiful ..thanks for the post ..

  • I have been a huge fan of Charles Aznavour since the 1960's, and am a big fan of Josh Groban, but I never thought I would see them sing together! Awesome!!

  • Thanks for posting this Eric. I do not speak French and when I was little I didn't appreciate the talent of Charles but now, well he and Josh together, simply enchanting.

    Cheers.

    Angel

  • i was laughing althought i couldn't understand a thing :P

  • holy cow charles looks old but he still got it

  • i didn understand anything but it was AMAZING

  • Josh Groban is amazing.

  • His French is amazing too.

  • I love Josh... but Aznavour is just too good!

  • Does anyone have an English translation of the dialogue? I'm a huge fan of Groban and Aznavour but I only speak English and Spanish :(

  • Magnifique ! ... Nous aussi. Bravo !

  • beautiful, loved it

  • merveilleux duo!!!!!josh+++++++++++++++

  • yes he can .....he can speak those languages thats why he sings different songs in different languages!! and im saying this to ADRONITIS!

  • no, he can't. he took a bit of highschool japanese. he doesn't speak fluent italian or spanish.

  • Uh, no he can't. I thought he could for the longest time, until I heard him on this one interview and the guys like "Which one of these languages are u actually going to learn?" and Josh is like " I don't know what language I want to learn yet.... I really like italian though..."

  • "After using four different languages on an album, it's tough to decide which one I'm gonna actually learn to speak. I always study the lyric, make sure I know what I'm singing, and try to get the pronunciation as perfect as possible."

    Josh Groban

  • There are plenty of singers around the world who can't speak English but sing in it (and there are some who can do both). Singing does not mean speaking. They just memorize the pronunciation.

Ex: me. I've learned lyrics in a bunch of languages but can I speak in any of them? Nope.

  • I saw Aznavour back in the 1970's here in the USA - he always wore sneakers with his suit or tuxedo in concert; seeing him here with Josh (who I adore) is just fabulous - such a class act!

  • Look at his age he's still great the years did not affect on his talent negatively.

Love you Aznavour. Proud to belong to the same nation that Charles does.

  • That is soo crazy! Josh learned all the songs he sings in other languages by rote! He can't even speak french, or italian or anything!

  • Comment removed

  • mmmmm sexy

  • Beautiful to watch.

Charles has my heart, but Josh is impressive as well! : )

  • Wow, I am so impressed with Josh's French! It's really very, very good. He either speaks it, or he took this duet very seriously and took some pronunciation classes. Or that's just another dimenion of his incredible talent.
