  • that flute is in D the same as my one i made of sumac! :) sounds much better and louder and less breathy than mine though :)

  • oh nevermind i just read the description, BTW you are awesome!

  • what type of flute is this? i'd like to know, i bought a minor G cedar 2 years ago and been playing since but i want to make a collection and this would be my 2nd piece to it, thx! :)

  • Thank you for sharing this song with us!

  • I remember learning how to play Amazing Grace on a Native American flute when I was younger, (wiping the tears away) my dad taught me and now he lies in the ICU and I wanted to play this for him, but the hospital won't let me because they fear it may disturb the other paatients, but I will bring him my ipod and share this video with him, headphones and all, because it reminds me of a better day..Thank you for posting this vid, it's greatly appreciated!

  • @taralee2012 :hello tara, I would think that the other people in the hospital would enjoy it if you would play the song and it would give them strength. I hope your dad enjoyed the song I deeply hope that he will heal and wish all the best for you and your family. May they be strong and loving as this song singing to each others hearts being one and cherish the fun! This song was also my dad's favorite song and always makes me think of him, miss and love him even more! peace and love Robert

  • @Robsun25 thank you Robert, I am happy to say my faither is doing somewhat better, and he was very pleased to hear this song..and I was so greatful I could be there in to give it to him during one of the times he was awake and coheriant.. being I like in MA. and he is down in New Mexico, I made him a playlist of alot of diffrent relaxing tunes for him and put them on an mp3 player, again I thank you for the video, and even more may your life be full of love and happiness!

  • Nice, I must share with friends, thank you for the video!!

  • So beautiful, Bruce!

    Thank you...

    Tim

  • Perfectooooooooooooooo

  • i clicked on this not knowing what a native american flute was, it started and my first thought was wooaah, i think that this my favorite instrament.

  • I'm more than impressed :D

  • Hey bruce I was wondering do u have any tabs for this the tabs i have are really stale

  • @fluteking100 Sadly, no I don't. Frankly, I never use tabs nor do I have a use for them as I'm a totally "by-ear" guy. Right now, I'm deeply involved in getting my 1st CD pressed (mid-August). After that, I could make a video to show how I played this arrangement, which to me is a much better way to learn than tabs because it's like a virtual flute lesson. Frankly, I really don't make tabs and find the whole process rather tedious. I'd much rather show you directly how it's played!

  • Amazing is right.....Bravo

  • how long is that flute?

  • @Roncace I don't have it with me right at the moment, but I think it's around 26 inches, possibly an inch more. I'll check that and confirm it.

  • for a calming music , i think the best instrument to use is the native American flute ... one of the best music i like...... AMAZING GRACE

  • Where did you buy such a beautiful sounding flute? Do you have the website?

  • @ChasingOrbs Look directly under the video - click the arrows on the right so that the text unfolds - and you'll see the web address for Laughing Crow flutes. Richard Maynard, a.k.a. Laughing Crow, will be more than happy to make one of these beauties for you. The version he's making now sounds even better than the one in this video!

  • quick sugestion pull out ur f# drone play the fisrt part single then bring in the drone it sounds amazing

  • @fluteking100 Hi Emil - Thanks for your suggestion. Actually, I too have thought of that. There are so many ways that this tune can be performed, and my way is but one of those. I'll try this on my Laughing Crow Bird's Eye Maple drone flute when I get back to New Mexico.

  • In learnng this song myself, I screwed it up more than I played it right, but when I need to play it right (gravesides and elders requests) it always seems to come together even with small variations of nuance, then I watch you play this your way...bringing it "up" for that last verse, finding "that way" to make it move even deeper into the heart of the movement itself....inspiring and wonderful...an "interpretation" and not just a "rendition"...

    Thank you

  • very nice bruce , i love your videos . keep up the great work! rc

  • Your a little to good at this one Bruce. Maybe its time to rethink? Read the history of this song on wikipedia.

  • this brought a tear to my eye, it's so haunting and beautiful. believe or not it reminds me of visiting my grandparents at their home in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. they live in the woods with a beautiful view of Lake Huron. i don't know why this song brought up those fond memories, but thanks. keep up the fantastic work, your music is an inspiration to all of us. :)

  • bruce, you are the reason I became interseted in the naf. I am not as musically inclined as yourself ,but i am a carpenter so my interest is in the making of flutes. If you read this , check out my version of amazing grace. It is not on par with yours but I do take pride in having made my flute by my own hands. Thank you, for sharing this gift.

  • how much did this one cost? lemme know where i can get it or what type of flute this is

  • Click next to the video where it says "more info", and then click again on the Laughing Crow url. This is a Native American-style flute made of Eastern aromatic cedar by Richard Maynard, a.k.a. Laughing Crow. The flute itself cost $240.00 (minus shipping costs). Sounds sweet, doesn't it? Peace ~ Bruce

  • I love the echo sound. I love playing Amazing Grace on my flute!

  • good job!im half native american so that really sounds good.

  • AMAZING!!! Your song inspired my soul! Thank you.

  • i really love it alot. IT's really nice. i love the music it produce. really... woody and tranquil...

  • Wonderful video and music:))

  • 28 flutes!LOL...Great!

  • Thanks for the comment! Since I live and work in Korea where there are no Native American flutes, mine must be ordered via Internet, so I can't handle or hear them beforehand. So far, though, I've been lucky: 28 flutes and counting, and they're all good. I want dead-on intonation and a smoooth, mellow voice. Accurate notes in the 2nd octave are preferred. I also have a thing for Eastern and Western cedar flutes because I think they look, sound, and SMELL great. Good luck in your flute craft!

  • I love this, Thank you. I am a flute maker in Michigan, and would like to make great flutes. Would you please tell me a couple of the qualities you most look for, when choosing a new flutes Thank You Beekeeperguy
