  • Frivolous !

  • This was the original and very good but I prefer the Lita Roza version.

  • Well done but Judith Durham's version is worth a listen!

  • Been there, done that. Farewell Allentown,PA!

  • Jo Stafford gives it a more haunting feel...

  • @FaerieKitteh Agree with you on that, she sings it in a very haunting style, whow you might expect somebody to lament if their loved onw wass ent to jail, Being a scouser though, (i.e. from Liverpool) I'm bound to be biased and say I still prefer Lita Roza

  • First time I'm hearing this song - really pretty...and I live in Allentown too, and it actually does feel like a jail.

  • @ACivilBeast so am i, lehigh county jail has it own song

  • I'm a fairly young man - but as a child, I had a crush on Jo Stafford - from an album collection that belonged to my Grandmother.

One in particular - that I haven't seen since - Jo Stafford - "Lady Sings the Blues"

I'd do anything to hear that again.

  • Waar is de tijd gebleven, was alle muziek maar zoals dit.

  • Swell Song!

René Carol sings the German Version!

    Purpurne Rose der Nacht!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • What a lovely voice, and a beautiful song, well accompanied! How good to see the pictures of Jo Stafford, too. Thanks.
