Don't totally agree with Paddy abt 80s music Although sorry Hhaa zzii Music is all down to taste as I think that oasis, libertines, supergrass, smiths are rubbish - loved the buzzcocks, undertones, the Jam (nt Paul weller) , Van the man , PREFAB SPROUT, ABC Duran duran, anything disco (earth wind fire etc) not the rave/dance scene, Everything but the girl, living in a box, Keane, Everything Everything. But, Paddy should' have had more success.
The rave/dance scene of the early 80s was awesome in hindsight & its probably the last major mainstream scene we're ever gonna have here in the UK. Teddies, Mods Rockers, Hippies, Glam, Punk, New Romantic, Manchester/Rave. My 'scene' was Britpop and all it did was mix every scene of the last 30 years, there was nothing original about it. I just think people should embrace the here and now and live for the moment as all legendary icons do. Maybe in 2025 we'll reminisce 'charvers' or 'chavs'
@hhhaaazzziii Why would it be the last major mainstream scene? There has been Dubstep, Garage, Emo and a lot of scenes you have missed out, may not be genres of your choice or likening but still scenes/genres. Your growing up man deal with it.
There's been a lot of good music since 1985 and a few good British bands since 1985 - The Smiths, Stone Roses, Oasis, Supergrass, The Libertines......... Pulp have had a few songs also which will go down as 'Classics' - 'Common People' & 'Disco 2000' - I think it's a natural human emotion for generations to dismiss previous and/or future generations and concentrate on their own because music brings back memories of more enjoyable 'particular' times.
I totally agree with Paddy when he says that the eighties music.....stinks. Just my opinion, but I think music started dying a death around 1985, and PF was the only good stuff then.
Not convinced I agree. Langley could have been a huge breakthrough album if they had supported it by touring. All the more galling when one considers how the sound of the album almost begged for the songs to be played in an arena style setting! More so than Jordan anyway, which they did tour but not particularly effectivelt IMO. Oh well, we can but remember fondly what little we did get to experience!
Yeah That stuff would have sounded great in an arena! Not that i ever got to see them in any live setting. I would love to have witnessed Jordan live. Maybe one day they will step out again...oh well i can dream...
@Kevirvy I said MAJOR scenes Garage and Dubstep aren't scenes. And as for Emo!? Where's Rod?

I think they got away with not touring langley park, but they probably got lucky-the rest of the band can't have been making much money though!
