  • the dog looks high

  • what exactly IS a foxtail?

  • @kyanshi Check out the comments below. It is a plant awn or seed

  • i was about to cry when i saw this but if it was to help him i was fine

  • man your my role model i swear man ur awsome

  • i am sooo highh right nooww

  • aww as soon as he started crying .. i started crying ! :O

  • I feel so bad for him! I'm glad that they got it out tho. To think I'll have to be doing this to animals in 3 years.

  • @LittleSerboLamb I'm sure you will enjoy helping animals just as I do!

  • awesome video. Great Vet

  • @TheReticKeeper Thanks! Love animals and to share!

  • ALLIGATOR FORCEPS!

  • 1:10. Now thats a arrow to the kn ee. :(

  • one word... OUCH!!!

  • Poor doggy ;'(. He's so sad... D'X

  • If this was a human having this procedure performed on it I would be barely phased by them crying with pain but when I watch dogs, cats etc crying I get so upset. I am so soft!

  • @aei05h1 Just be glad it is a problem easily and quickly remedied. No lasting pain

  • so is a foxtail a bug or fungus?

  • @darkhawkthebad A plant seed. See comments below

  • @DrGregDVM ty

  • @DrGregDVM I feel bad for Jack. How do foxtails get into the ear canal in the first place?

  • @MusicTechie8 They come off a plant and are very sharp and sticky. They cling to hair and find they way into skin or ears

  • poor dog

  • DrGreg!!! Can you please do a video on feline acne????

  • @MissingSockk I will be gone for a couple weeks, but will keep it in mind if a cat comes in with it!

  • @DrGregDVM Thanks so much!

  • I really think an analgesic should have been given. just being relaxed isn't enough if he's wining like that

  • @KnittingPasta It is always a judgement to completely anesthetize or sedate. An analgesic would not have made a difference. The mild pain was over quickly. If it had hurt more, I would have used a general anesthetic. Cost to the owner, comfort, and time needed are always factors

  • If love is free why do they charge me a fee...

  • How did you know it was a foxtail and not something else? My dog's a miniature poodle and his ears smell bad. He's super fierce (during grooming) so trying to clean his ear is a difficult. I assume he has an ear infection. He doesn't scratch it often but he always rubs his whole head on any carpet. Oh and he has real long nails too. The groomers can't cut it because he bites or struggles. Do vets cut nails? Are his long nails harmful to him? Will he hurt himself through scratching? Thanks!

  • @Kokonuht It was the summer season here in California when we have lots of those harmful things around. Poodles often have long hair in their ears which prevents wax fro getting out. Built up wax is irritating and grows bacteria and yeast which further irritates the skin. Poodles also have hay fever which causes inflamed ears. Pet stores, groomers and vets cut nails which may break if they get too long. Ear infections are also caused by grain in the food and treats, dogdishdietcom

  • damn thats a at dog

  • haha "well first you have to open it..."

  • @brutalxlovexo It worked much better opened

  • D' AWEH <3 Jack <3

  • Shame Human doctors can't be more like this when it comes to giving a shit about the patient.

  • @CrazyTasteyPi I know man. If my doctor treated me like this, he would be the highest paid man in the world. I would never want to leave his office.

  • @CrazyTasteyPi Thanks for watching. It's harder to like people!

  • I wish my doc was as great as you seem to be

  • @beanbaggyful I try to treat each patient as I would my own pets. Animals are special to me and I feel lucky to have such a great job

  • I used to be an adventurer, then i took a foxtail in the ear.

  • @Kronaras13 Sorry a weed seed ended that daring career

  • @Kronaras13 all over the world play skyrim? WTF? every video has minimum 1 joke like this!

  • AUDREY II DID IT.

  • What's a fox tail

  • @Chomthap A pointy sticky plant seed that gets stuck in the ear

  • i heard that labs get waterlogged ears and that can cause irritation, and labs love water so you can't avoid it you just have to look after their ears. clean them and if they are sore use an ear cream that a vet suggests. We had a lab/cockerspaniel and she had waterlogged ears after swimming.

  • @Leebsterftw Swimming, hair in the ears, narrow ear canals, food allergies, allergies to pollens/ molds all cause ear problems. The worst cause is treats and food with wheat gluten. That what I wrote about in Dog Dish Diet. How food issues cause problems

  • You're a badass vet!

  • @mmmmmarcus Thanks marcus, that's the first time Ive been called bad ass

  • wat is a fox tail?

  • @ssszzzppp A pointy sticky plant seed that gets stuck in the ear

  • THAT DOG IS FRIED

  • GLOVES IDIOTS GLOVES!!!

  • @jenjasm92 Don't need them for this!

  • @jenjasm92 I will make sure of that in the first place.

  • @DrGregDVM my dog always shakes his head and needs his ears cleaned a lot. do you think he could have this?

  • @MrZippo515 Your dog is probably allergic to pollens, molds, or foods. Avoid grains in dog food and treats. Check out the Dog Dish Diet. Some dogs recover with a better diet

  • @DrGregDVM thanks! his vet says its a yeast infection but the medicine doesnt help, so i am going to try the advice you gave! thanks!

  • aww, the way you held him was soooo cuuute!!!!

  • @EvilGrannyForLife Love my animals

  • what is it exactly? O.o

  • @stix471 Plant seed gets down in the ear

  • @DrGregDVM poor pooch :( thanks mate :)

  • @stix471 It was easily removed and he felt better fast. Thanks

  • @DrGregDVM yay!! haha

  • awww poor doggy, that must have hurt!

  • I also have a dog that's gotten two ear infections so far, both in the same ear. I believe that he's a lab/husky mix. Is there any way to prevent or recognize how he keeps getting infections?

  • @24681again Food allergies often cause chronic ear infections. I advise clients to quit feeding biscuits and dental biscuits and a better grain free dog food. Check out my site and the Dog Dish Diet. You can google it

  • "and jacks feeling pretty good right now" hahahahahahaahh

  • @moonfizl Well he was!

  • What type of dog is this so cute :)

  • @klksplsor Jack Russell type of dog. May be a mix

  • @DrGregDVM I used to have a Jack Russel Terrier. They're so energetic! :)

  • @24681again Constant motion!

  • This was an informative video. My poor dog was afflicted by foxtail as a puppy, she developed rather nasty infections as well and her ears never went erect (she is a German Shepherd). She's better now and we love her dearly, floppy ears and all :D

  • @protoman1214 I'm glad you got it taken care of. Thanks for watching!

  • @protoman1214 Doesn't look any thing like a german shepherd.

  • jack is high

    hope he is better

  • Poor dog :(

  • My dog had a foxtail in its ear.

  • Thank you for once again reminding me why I can't wait to be a vet! I start college next year in a prevet program and work with vets now, I love vets like you who explain everything and don't leave owners guessing!

  • @dsqrd52628 You'll really love it if you're passionate about animals and treat them like you would your own. Thanks for watching~!

  • Aw, you are so helpful! :-D The vet i have to go to with my animals, just do things without telling me.. heck, they would have killed my cat if it was really sick, and nothing would help, without telling me -.-

  • @Katrineee97 Glad you liked the videos! I try to help both my clients and animals feel good about the treatment!

  • aw, poor doggy.

  • You are very informative and an incredible bed side manner. I adore how you explain very clear and simply every step that you use, so that Jack's owners aren't just in the dark. It's comfortable to know why this is being done, or how you need to do it. Very assuring and clearly there's no interest in self promotion. Smashing Dr. Greg. Continue the good work. There are many other vetinarians that could take alot from this.

  • @Skycrusher I really like to help my clients and now other that want to watch...how, what, and why we do things in the hospital setting. Thanks for the kind words.

  • What a good dog when my dog has a needle on him he runs and makes it worse

  • let go of the poor dog

  • @dane5655 We're helping him

  • oh wow he looks like hes on pot

  • @spiceytaco95 Maybe, but sedation is used to prevent pain

  • what exactly is the foxtail? just gathered up dirt?

  • @dudejrod No, foxtail is a very common weed plant. Dogs as they run around outside will sometimes catch things like this in their ears.

  • @dudejrod A plant seed that grabs on

  • 3:08 he totally forgive you for making him cry

  • Comment removed

  • When the dog cried, I cried too ç_ç

  • @HarukaTokimeki It was a bit painful, but better afterwards!

  • 1:20

    "is this real life?"

  • @Zronxziq That's how he was acting at home!

  • @Zronxziq

    Well done

  • jacks like WOW MAN!!!

  • my dog has yeast infection in his ear and under the eye what can i do

  • @legosfankid1 Allergic dogs with bad skin often are prone to yeast infections. Depending on the breed, diet has a lot to do with bad skin. Check dogdishdietdotcom for my recommendations, books and vids. A 1:10 vinegar water solution sometimes helps daily for 3 weeks

  • I thought he had a real fox tale in his ear!

  • how much will something like this cost me. thanks just a general idea

  • @edweird83 office and exam 50 ear exam and removal of foxtail 40 Sedation 60 ear medication 20. Anywhere from 70-250 depending on the clinic, how hard the removal is, and cost of living in that area. Does that help

  • Dr. Greg. I have the utmost respect for you. Seeing the way you care for animals is nothing short of amazing.

  • @xAubreyDeAnnex Thanks for the kind comments. I am fortunate to be able to work with those that mean so much to me. Thanks for watching

  • my dogs ears are pretty bad we can aford a vet my dog scruffy is a cocker spaniel i told my mom not to buy the dog because of the high maintenance i was quiet content with my mutt dog but no she spent 700 on a dog that we cant take care of rite we dont really wanna give up the dog but we need help with him. his ears are in a lot of pain to the point where you cant even tap his head. they smell really bad they puss and it looks like his whole ear is covered with these knobs any advice would help

  • @emoriotfreak13 Watch my video on ear treatment. Temporary treatment of ears. Feed the cocker a hypoallergenic food and no treats. Use 1:10 vinegar and warm water to wash/ rinse the ears after a dilute dawn detergent wash. The diet can really help salmon and sweet potato food is best costco. Check my website for cheap videos and info dogdishdietdotcom

  • @emoriotfreak13 see if any vets in your area offer a payment plan. Some may. You just have to look. Praying your little guy gets better.

  • Dr. Greg, why did you want to become a vet? and what made you want to film yourself doing your job?

  • @rDarkWarrior I've wanted to be a vet since I was very young. I feel animals are our partners in this world. After thirty years on the job, I've learned that our pets need better nutrition and that some people need help to understand and help their pets. The videos help people with minor medical stuff. My little commercials also help direct people to my website to learn about better nutrition for their pets. I've also really enjoyed entertaining and educating in the vids

  • poor guy!

  • My dog, an Akita, got a dandelion in his ear and his left ear went deaf =( Wish we could've saw it sooner.

  • @JKRand0mn3ss sorry that happened. Some dogs get severe infections that cause deafness

  • the dog cryin in this video woke my dog up!!!

  • @FantasiaX96X Dogs hear that cry and want to know what's happening!

  • Jax's is feeling really good right now just needed to clear that up guys

  • Our 5 year old too happy Bully had the same drug to have a skin test which is now 100% better with a course of injections.

  • @Leowen2 Did he have allergy testing? Injections? That's great that it worked so well!

  • poor thing

  • awwww poor baby

  • watching your videos makes me want to be a vet, I'm really glad to see someone who truely cares about animals :)

  • @habreezo Thanks, I really love helping both animals and their families enjoy life!

  • Poor baby boo :C I'm glad it's okay!

  • Dogs and cats...they are our friends. We must look after our friends.

  • @Morrigan070671 They are actually more like my family

  • This vet is a good guy!

  • @Morrigan070671 I really love working on animals. They make it easy!

  • Hearing the doggy cry killed me :( poor baby

  • @rDarkWarrior It only cried for a second, then was fine!

  • @DrGregDVM Yeah but it makes me miss my puppy Loki :'( My dad is a fuckin prick and got rid of him

  • @rDarkWarrior Sorry about you loosing your puppy.

  • @DrGregDVM its ok. but he agreed to getting the puppy because I have a high case of anxiety and having him was the best thing that has ever happened to me and he decided "Oh well I just loove ruining my sons life so i'm gonna take it away now that he loves it to death"

  • If taking your dog to the vet is too expensive you shouldnt own a pet. Can't believe you even said that.

  • @napischu Some people just can't afford a vet visit. I grew up very poor and we could just not afford a visit, but I truly loved animals and did the best I could to take care of them. I like to help people manage minor medical problems if they can. I agree that if an animal is sick, it needs more than over the counter medicine.

  • @napischu true that people really do need to set aside money for pet care, but given a choice between a dog going to a poor but loving family, or going to the euthanasia room, I'll choose the poor family every time. There are so many good dogs in need of homes and they're not demanding primo heath care.....

  • whut is a foxtail... a plant or a bug? o-o

  • @AyameAnimeFreakYaoi It is a plant seed. Google foxtail California

  • why poor dog why would you do that even take a eye out of a pug thats not nice

  • @taylor2735555 The eye was diseased and painful and needed to come out

  • @taylor2735555 Thats not a pug and he didn't take out its eye, what vid are you talking about?

  • @SpiffyAvacados Another video I made taking out a pugs eye

  • This is where my continuous disgusting video chain stops; right on a poor doggy being taken care of. Goodnight, YouTube.

  • ima cry cuz that dog is so nice

  • that dog after he feels good is all like duuuuuuuude.....blink blink....wth man... lmao

  • @OathKeeper2 Anesthetics are wonderful to help our pets through procedures

  • is this a problem for dogs in kentucky my sister's dog is always having problems with her ears please let me know thanks

  • @justthinking1996 Ear problems are number one problem in dogs due to pure breeding, low fat dry dog food, allergens in dog food, and hay fever. Tell her to check out my website dogdishdietcom

  • @DrGregDVM i will thanks

  • i wonder if the dog knows its being helped

  • @rickybarningham It may not at the time, but will know it felt better afterward!

  • until they jam that thing into its ear of course

  • at 1:22 that dog is feeling reeeeeal good by the looks of it

  • I'm from finland and would like to know um... what is a foxtale?

  • @Inkki89 It is a plant seed that is very pointy and sticky. It grows as a weed in California and causes lots of problems

  • lol that dog is high as shit

  • @CalamitysGrasp The dog is sedated for a painful procedure. Where did the expression high as s--- come from? s--- is usually on the ground! Oh well another one of our weird expressions

  • such a cutie pie <33

  • @lLovechu211 Very cute, nice, and co-operative

  • that dogs face was epic.

  • The vet seems so nice and kind. I wish all vets were like this with animals.

  • @rhino2960 It is a plant seed, with velcro like strands and a pointy end. It can hold on and pierce the skin to cause abscesses. No need to use profanity

  • @DrGregDVM ah right, sorry bout that

  • @anferneev30 It's just the name of a seed that looks full like a fox's tail
