  • Final cut*

  • This is what a pencil test should look like, not fina

  • Well I guess they must be black bears.

  • Okay, is the opening music just a guy laughing?

  • Are those bears supposed to be black people?

  • Sometimes, I think people take this whole thing a little too seriously :-)

  • "Worst Cartoon Ever"? Hardly. I've seen worse (and a few are still running on television).

  • Actually, the character design and animation was pretty good. This was obviously done directly on paper, no cels. It sort of reminds me of Ed Wood. A guy with huge amounts of enthusiasm, some technical competence, but no sense of timing or story telling.

  • i feel like the guy who drew this...and apparently voiced it. is a serial killer

  • well, this is actually funnier than most cartoons these days

  • The voice guy is incredibly annoying.

"That's a mighty pretty boat out there I wonder who it belongs to you know? don't look like there's anybody in there there's funny going on you know SHUT UP!! I don't see anybody maybe he's laying down STOP TALKING in the boat and he's sick maybe we should go over and help him out, huh? Shut my mouth Emis, YES PLEASE there's nobody on board that boat, hmmmmmmm...let's take a look.

  • You know the real golden age of cartoons was when TV execs decided that Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse should appear on TV, Not in the early days sadly, I know it was like the first TV Cartoon but Its just sad to look at. I don't know what else to say sadly.

  • Makes one pine for the deep plotlines and stellar production values of Chip and Pepper's Cartoon Madness.

  • That was.......AWFUL!

  • This is exactly what it looked like to me: a very cheaply made cartoon made by a talented professional animator.

  • Yet it still looks better than Problem Solverz.

  • My face is wet with tears of laughter

  • This was one cheap cartoon. It had no color. It had no detail. I even say that they used the same frames several times to save time and leather. It wasn't even funny.

  • I know this was the '50s, but MAN, this is cheap.

  • This made my brain pour out of my nostrils

  • turn on "transcribe audio"

  • @5star555555555 I LOL'd. "It's difficult to get out of the city of birth control"

  • gotta love the organ

  • lol why do they sound like the devil from Leo and Satan?

  • Jesus Christ does that bear EVER shut up?

  • madmoon1 went to a restaurant and ordered a pie and was served a moldy, burned slice. He called the waiter over and said "This pie is terrible, it's not even edible". The waiter responded, "Where's your home baked pie so we can compare?"

  • @madmoon1 I don't need to be a mason to tell a sinking ship is badly made.

  • I think I have seen what Hal Warren would have made if Manos was a cartoon.

  • at least the drawings aint that bad

it rather looks unfinished (no color...and the lack of sync in speaking)

maybe he ran out of budget before finishing it?

  • YA BASTARD BIRD

  • it's like if Boomhauer made his own cartoon.

  • I know they had to do things cheap but,

    DID YOU EVEN TRY!!

  • I can imagine Sam Singer alone in a studio just recording his lines in silence... That's probably what happened eh?

  • @xxZeroZonexx would have made an candid interesting video :P

  • I don't like this adventure...

  • OH NO MR. BILL

  • That looks like one of the earliest limited made-for-TV cartoons I've seen yet. It is pretty bad but there is worse out there.

  • so these two bears who speak jive are randomly swimming in the ocean when they find a boat, wreck it, find a sailor stranded on an island and are rescued by a pelican.... psychedelic

  • Comment removed

  • Did they actually PAY the voice actors? XD

  • There's only one voice actor, and it's the same guy that did the animation :P

  • @Chuixupu

I imagine this is the only cartoon they show in hell. That opening squaking song will haunt me in my dreams.

  • BACK WHEN CARTOONS STILL WERE GOOD, UNLIKE THE CRAP THAT'S ON THES D-- no, it's not even worth trying with this one.

  • @SwedxSimon02 Is that you...Kricfalusi?

  • The drawings are not bad, but anything else..,,, EPIC FAILURE

  • The animation is terrible.

  • Thanks for posting this, this is great stuff, truly one of the worst.

  • You know, it would work if you marketed it as an art film

  • I saw this last night at the Vancity Theatre on "The Worst Cartoons Ever" with Jerry Beck.

    It was laughably awful!

    "I don't think there's anyone on that boat. I don't think there is, let's take a look."

    -Swimming towards camera-

    "Let's take a look."

  • What happens when the Worker and Parasite people get a budget.

  • Or just get together...

This thing doesn't look like it has a budget...

  • @belgurdo

What the hell are you, some kind of upper class snob who looks down on everyone who isn't exactly like you? Because that's just exactly what you sound like.

Please get the hell over yourself.

  • @GeorgiaRose86

Responding to a two year old throwaway joke about a cartoon. I'm being trolled just by responding to you, ain't I? Anyway, 1/10 for making me giggle

  • How bad was Singer? Compare the "Sinbad Jr." episodes he produced with those in the same series done by Hanna-Barbera. The H-B episodes look like friggin' DISNEY by comparison!

  • owch... that was pretty bad. Then again it has more entertainment value now for being such a peice of shit, look at astro boy. I cant sit through an episode of that because even though it was great in its time, its still dated as hell. So i guess that this peice of holy grail turd sauce wins truly only for the reason that it can keep you wondering "what were they smoking?"

  • This is the most nonsensical piece of shit I have seen in my life, and I've seen A LOT of crappy animation!

  • I'm goin' to be SEEEEEK!

  • Pinnacle

    Of

    Shit.

  • Wow, that was pretty bad! It was really great for a laugh, though. The animation was really bad, and the story was just stupid. No wonder it was chosen as one of the worst cartoons ever!

  • This is the year 2008 not 1944.

  • the quality is like in my country hehehe

  • Wait, there's two bears and one beachcomber. Me, I would have bet on the bears. Incidentally, kids, they're doing the voices of Amos and Andy, popular negro dialect comedians of the last century. Have to say that this is an unusually visually ambitious episode of Paddy. Singer=Wood for sure.

  • Not exactly Amos and Andy (Andy didn't speak in a falsetto), but still minstrel black dialect nonetheless. For a simple line drawing, the animation is quite good. We expect more shading and colors today, but this would have looked acceptable on the black and white TVs of the day.

  • So bad, it's funny

  • HILARIOUS.

  • OMG i think if my animating teacher saw this he would puke hahahaha

  • Who in their right mind would swim out to the ocean without any land in sight?

  • Wow, it's like the actors are totally adlibbing through it for the first time. Awesomely bad!

  • Thanks for posting this rancid awfulness, and kudos for not being thrown off balance by that Ultraman weirdo.

  • Heh heh...hey, it's the internet, I couldn't survive if I was that easily thrown off. ;)

  • Sadly, it looks very modern. This Sam Singer was ahead of his time.

  • The Ed Wood of cartoons.

  • from Toontracker. Paddy the Pelican began in 1950 as a local TV puppet show on Chicago's WENR-TV. Paddy's adventures were presented in comic strip drawings done by Sam Singer.

In 1954 Paddy appeared in six animated films done by Singer. The films, while nicely crafted, were essentially pencil tests.

So ya'all get a grip...It was 1954. All your daddies were probably still swimming around in your Granddads fruit of the looms when this was made. It was real early TV.

  • My daddy was 15 at the time. :P

Animation has been around since the early 1900's. By 1954 there was better stuff than this on the TV This particular cartoon was already past what is known as "The golden age of cartoons". Disney, Loony Toons, Fleisher, Hanna-Barabara even extremely early, 1930's-1940's pre-Disney animators like Harmon-Ising are far superior to this. It doesn't matter for what reason it was made or what time period, it's crap.

  • Instead of harping on how bad this is. Why don't you put up some good stuff but looking at yer vids seems you don't have anything. Crude as this is it does have some merits in the drawing portion but ragging on it doesn't do anybody any good.

  • I put it up for humor value, just like the cartoon historian showed this along with a bunch of other crappy cartoons at Comic-Con in front of hundreds of people for humor value. Are you upset because Sam Singer was a relative of yours or something? And you aren't in much of a position to criticise what I have put up, since you have 0 videos up, and you favorited this one. ;)

  • Actually I am fond of Sam Singer's toons, they have a unique crudeness about them, just like Ralph Bakshi's work. Singer's work has been slowly lost to time. I rarely see it anywhere. But you just seem you like to bitch that's all I'm saying. And it is easy to attack a cartoon. When I get around to putting up some vids...rest assured there may well be a Sam Singer toon in there. HAVE A NICE DAY.

  • What can I say, I'm sorry if you are somehow offended that I should give my honest opinion. You know the saying, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth". :P I don't see where I've "bitched" anywhere. Unlike a certain person has done nothing but complain about me.

My day happened to not be very nice. :P

  • this is pure gold giuuuuk thanxs mate!!!!

  • That historian was probably Jerry Beck.

  • ...WOW!! >.<

  • I think this really IS one of the worst cartoons ever made... that just blew my mind. So Chu, do you know if this cartoon was an 'official' cartoon, like the kind they'd show on TV or before movies, or was it a student film or something?

  • Yes, this was actually shown on TV! I don't know if you remember Captain Kangaroo, but Sam Singer did cartoons shorts for it called "Pow Wow the Indian Boy" and it's almost as bad as this except in color and narrated instead of badly dubbed voices...

  • Laster Sam Singer productions included "Bucky & Pepito" (often also sighted as the wrost TV cartoon ever, despite having some decent background artwork for 1959 that wasn't the usual UPA-esque approach), "Courageous Cat & Minute Mouse" and "Sinbad Jr.".

  • do not want!

  • Worst cartoon ever!

    The lips don't sync!

  • This was awesome.

  • Doggone, Beachcomer Bill was such a dick. 'course he ain't deserve to be rescued.

I dun wonda if Amos and Buster watched a lotta that Amos n' Andy.

  • Hehe, you're right, I didn't even think about that.

  • Uh huh. Probably not deserving of any "worst cartoon ever" titles.

  • Of course not.

  • ...Are you on crack? This is the absolute pinnacle of shit.
