Mitsuki sings this when she turns 16(So it skips 3 years in the last chapter) And she sees takuto in the crowd and they sing this song together on the stange ^____^

OK! If you notice close to the end, you can see Eichi as a grown up, looking at the moon. I believe that they meant to keep him on the anime but after they saw how much Mistuki and Takuto were loved by the audience as a couple, they probably decided to get rid of him. I would prefer Eichi being alive but with a girlfriend of something, so that Mitsuki would feel she loved him like a brother o something and move on with Takuto.
