I got one , good machine . Through a Marshall 602 , with the amp's distortion , it is so close to my Les 1998 Standard, without the weight . Lovely tones with either the neck or bridge pick-up and the Marshall distortion . Plus there is the upper fret access ease .
Clean though , the Les has far better sound , should too , for the $2500.00(AUST) price diff.
Had one... loved it, but then little problems came up... jack issues, the bridge pickup position of the key kinda disconnected... so annoying... then i started to watch Jimmy Page videos with a telecaster, in a week or two, gave away my PRS in exchange of a Telecaster. Damn you GAS!
I have managed to get some nice tones out of this guitar, I replaced neck position with an old Seymour Duncan Holdsworth pickup and it went from verse, to versatile!
this was the first PRS i ever tried and i just felt like trying something simple and.... I Just fell in love with it !!! :D, can you do metal with it?? i woul dreally love it and buy it haha
I have this guitar and it is my favorite. First off it looks beautiful and the hardware is great looking. The guitar is also very versatile from a strat to say an LP. this thing is so warm you could heat a house with it. All around great guitar, and great review!
Although a SH guitar can generate lots of different tones, most people buy one to get a clean jazz tone, a bluesy tone or a Carltonisque warm OD tone. This demo isn't informative.
@annieAAH epiphone les paul LP100, its cheap and a good start off, or maybe try searching for a squier, it depends what music and sound you like, but PRS isn't for begginers, squier and epiphone are great brands for starters. Cheers!
@annieAAH Depends on what kinda music you wanna play. The Squier Classic Vibe series is awesome and only $350 new, look around for used ones and they're even cheaper. I have a Classic Vibe 50's Tele and it's awesome.
Go Ibanez RG series. If you want it to be Japan made, (Highest Quality), get a prestige. If you are looking for one that's more affordable, get a regular RG series. Hope this helped.
@IwonYou121 Go Ibanes RG series? If you want it to be Japan made, (Highest Quality), get a prestige. If you are looking for one that's more affordable, get a regular RG series. Hope this helped.
Personally Id go for the prs, but it depends what cind of sound you'd be making. if it would be like hard stuff go for the ibanez but for softer stuff go for the prs
I got mine a few days ago and I'm more than happy!! with a little vox DA5 amplifier, I can get it sound like Mark Knopfler or Santana very easily. the fingerboard is awsome and your fingers can do things you wouldn't think yourself able to do.
10/10 to this guitar, the best Quality/Price ratio out there.
been playing the guitar for over a year now! its still almost exclusively the only guitar i play. i run it through my pedal board (fulldrive 2, yjm308, DD20, RV5, and crybaby) and a fender twin reverb. it sounds SO SICK
Thank you for posting this! Excellent demo and I found it just in time. I just got one and almost backed out of the purchase until I saw this. Love the tubescreamer with it.
One more thing, Jon, it would be totally awesome if you made a video demoing your current stage rig. I've seen the pictures on your blog but it would be cool to get a demo of all the sounds.
Dang, that's a nice guitar. You're right, PRS allways seems to have great woods. I have a Gretsch hollowbody around $700 and it sounds pretty awesome as well. The pickups aren't as hot but so its great for like jazz and blues stuff. But that Bad Cat sounded freakin amazing.
Jon, I just started laughing when you leaned forward towards the camera that way everybody could see you, because ur eyes were opened soo wide. I'm sorry but thats hilarious.
Is this the Korean made one?

dude no one buys a PRS to try and sound like a Tele, I personaly own both and happy that they're different

dude just the sound of it at 0:43 is enough for me, I'm getting it against my Takamine Eg 334 SC

people don't buy a semi hollow to play ac/dc kind of music . learn to play jazz/blues and then make another demo.
celermail 9 months ago
@celermail Accually this guitar is perfect for Insomnium style stuff, which is exactly what I want.
syntheticskull 9 months ago
@celermail i think there is no special guitar for jazz and acdc it's all about feeling :)

I would like to hear how it sounds unplugged, just the hollowbody sound. if it sounds too much ill consider in buying one with a solid body.
