I don't know if this has already been said but this plane (prototype actually) is located now in Poitiers (France) in the Futuroscope resort. I got to discover it by chance in last September during a trip over there. Its nickname in french is "La crêpe dorée"
@Phenixtri there are similar planes flying right now.search for low aspect ratio planes there iare at least 2 homebuild kits for these planeslook for the arup and flying shoeheel planes ,im sure you will find it interesting
did you all know charles lindburgh was the first to solo a transatlantic flight? his plane sits in the national air&space museum in the smithsonian in washington D.C.
@jiggahippo A jet version? That's a strange idea, as the whole point of putting the engines at the wingtips is so that the propellers can rotate opposite to, and thereby actively cancel out, the wing tip vortices that all winged aircraft generate. You can basically imagine it as the propeller blades drag air from the top of the wing, around the end, and dump it under the wing to increase the air pressure down there and generate much greater lift.
@LotsOMovies Hey, Im not in charge of it, I just researched a few sites that have some information. Im not a rocket scientist. But it was a cool ass plane in those days.
very odd shape but ingenious, yet the nazi's built the Haunebu / Vril An honest to god electromagnetic propulsion drive flying saucer. I read somewhere they even stated they had travelled to mars in it, unfortunatly the crew could not return for the saucer had a mechanical failure of some sort and this trapped the nazi's on board somewhere in outer space. jokes eh, Bloody nazi saucer floating around somewhere in the void near mars...
Wernher von braun admitted it after he began work with the united states on the recovered V2 technology at new castle army air field... But that is beyond the point that electro-magnetic propulsion technology already exists and is in use ... Gauss is literally the science of using electro magnetic coils to propel a projectile at extremely high velocity in the same manner a firearm does , without the un necessary methods of combustion usually involved. Get educated before you talk.
i never got why it was used in that game it never even flew during the war and was never used by the army. the army wanted it made but by the time it was ready for prodution they didnt need it
Well, it was a game, they put HeP1087s, Daimler Benz C, Ju390s, Do 355 (that one did fly though) XP-55, XP-56 and other not so used planes. It was a lo of fiction in tat game. Fun fun fun.
Why didn't they go in series with it ?
(Or did they?)
jerome96114 1 month ago
@jerome96114 Because the existence of turbojets made them obsolete.
Although, I wonder how a turboprop version of this would perform...

I saw this on TV Modern marvels. It had the potentail, but was sadly cancelled due to jet exploration. The thing would have had 6 cannons on it!
ObiTrev 2 years ago
@ObiTrev actaully they did make a jet verson but it failed some how, dont know how but it did.

@jiggahippo im prety sure it um..... exploded
marcuspinson 1 year ago
@marcuspinson nope, researched it, it failed due to the current prob planes were faster so they figured, why bother.

@jiggahippo ok but i know that one of them crashed

@LotsOMovies Then what about a turboprop version?

@DevilMaster Sure, that could work. Same principle, just with a different way of developing power.

get an education you stupid fuck.
GodlessMartyr666 2 years ago
Lets ignore for a second that the terms you are using were coined in pulp fiction
What were the designation numbers of these craft?
Who were the pilots?
Where did you read about them?
What medication are you taking?

Wernher von Braun never admitted there were aircraft powered by "Vril", that Germans went to Mars or electrostatic propulsion
Gauss is firing a projectile, yes, but you can't use it for the propulsion of a vehicle or control an aircraft in that way
adrastea99 2 years ago
There is one example of electric propulsion which could possibly work as you say, and that is ionic drive developed by Tesla
Two problems: The Germans did not have the power source for it (we still don't) and they did not have the computer power to control the stream
Telling me to get educated is fucking stupid considering your education comes from fiction books
