@zendishwasher2 who told you that? Realllllly bad information! Remember that both the moon and mars are rotating at different speeds on their axis and rotate around the sun at different speeds aswell, they are probably only in alignment of any sort every god knows how many thousands of years! let alone specific points!
the sumerians wrote that our earth was twice as big and in one course of Nibiru, the planet of the crossing they called it, it smashed into earth that changed orbit and became the earth as we know it. The moon would follow earth in its new path and size.
might well be true as no known planet has such a huge satellite
the theory is a planet called (kingu or i have heard it called tiamat) exploded about 5 millions years ago. it was between mars and jupiter hence the asteriod belt. pieces of it hit mars and destroyed life there as well as ejecting the moon from it orbit.water and debris travelled through space striking the earth and seeding the cambrian explosion. it has been speculated that kingu/tiamat exploded because of a collision with nibiru.
@zendishwasher2 Kingu was a god, Timat a godess, NOT planets...
Kingu led Tiamats rebel armies then he was punished by Marduk for misleading Tiamut. Marduk ordered Enki to cut him and used his blood to make "Man" to relieve the gods of their menial tasks!
The biggest flaw is that if said planet "Nibiru" hit another planet how would Nibiru still be a whole planet orbiting elliptically so far from the sun and earth that it has only just come back. 530 million years after the Cambrian explosion?
@zendishwasher2 "The prevailing hypothesis today is that the Earth–Moon system formed as a result of a giant impact: a Mars-sized body hit the nearly formed proto-Earth, blasting material into orbit around the proto-Earth, which accreted to form the Moon" - Wikipedia
WTF?

actually the pock marks on mars are supposed to be aligned to the craters of the moon.

and indeed our moon is much to big for our planet

@dombadil the moon was most likely a satilite of mars and was displaced 6 billon years ago?
