@aspendot well, you can say french music (yes in french that's a genre: "chanson française"), more or less Middle of the road (in french that's not always pejorative), but "chanson française" is better.

If you understand the lyrics you would realize that she is singing about a tune that haunts her wherever she goes and is driving her crazy..reminds her of past loves, and losses, etc... the melody of that tune is the "padam padam" of the title. This song has nothing to do with Paris.
