It's so rare! Tom Coster and Greg Walker comes back in 1982!!! I saw the gig at Budokan July 1983 and surprised by their coming back. At the gig, Sadao Watanabe was featured at the curtain call.
I'm not sure what's the best thing on this video: That Greg Walker and Tom Coster appear with the band here again, or that "Nowhere to Run" is played as it should have been played on the Shangó album.
Alex Ligertwood's voice is great, but for this version Greg Walker's suits much better. Thanks for the video! Santana should release a live album of this period; it would be solid gold!
Totally agree - saw him with Santana many times in the late 70s / early 80s(if i remember correctly)... No lead vocalist with Santana since then has ever come close to Greg in terms of vocal performance, stage presence or ability to complement that guitar! What great memeories.
I was lucky enough to see all 4 gigs at the Albert Hall, London in May 1983 (including 2 gigs in one day). As with many tunes from Zebop and Shango the live versions were infinately better than the Albums. The over production & softening up of the sound in a bid to get a "hit" by the record company maybe ? Anyway thanks for the posting.
Great Version of Nowhere to run. The album version did not include the percussion section. This is really rare with Tom Coster in this era, does anyone know who is playing bass?
I had the pleasure of meeting Gregg Walker in NYC. There used to be a summer series of live performances at the World Trade Center. He performed with Keiko Matsui, I think that is how you spell her name. Anyway, he is a very nice person. we spoke about 20 minutes, he signed an authograph and said that Carlos is so cool, but he wanted to do somethings on his own. I menetioned that I really loved the vocals he added to the Santana sound and wished that some day they will record again.
Great presence soul and voice. Yes my personal favorite singer for Carlos
Nowhere to run is such a intense song, delivered here soundly

Greg Walker became the lead singer of The Fifth Dimension after leaving Santana. Today he is a solo artist.

Greg Walker the best singer Santana ever hooked up with. I think no other has complemented that band the way he did.

Nice agressive playing by Carlos - miss this drive in his playing today. Shows that the PRS is a great guitar and Carlos' signature sound.
