  • im going to b a pilot for the uscg after highschool and a degree from ks salina. but imagine the adrenaline rush the rescue swimmers get!!! Semper Paratus!!!!!!!

  • honer those men and woman.

  • God that must be the most amazing feeling in the world. Just to be able to say I saved someone's life today at work would be amazing. I tried joining the Coast Guard but I can't due to medical issues.

  • @aleonard3249 I'm sorry to hear that. :( You are still a hero to me, just for thinking about it.

  • These are exceptional people.

  • god protect them.good and honor work

  • The Coast Guard truely Rocks!!!!!!!!! Ty for being there!!!!!

  • im joining the coast guard wen im 18

  • i love the sound of those helicopters !!

  • What will not do.

  • God Bless the U.S Coast Guard men and women for what they do every day with their lives on the line.

  • I am so proud of my son who was accepted into the US Coast Guard Academy, class of 2015. He turns 18 on the day before he is due to report for Swab Summer.

He has expressed a deep desire to fly helicopters.

He has always demonstrated a character that would portend he was/is going to do something special in this world.

  • @nickm16a2 hey im not trying to put any branch down the puddle pirates do earn their pay. and about the tents lol you must have never stayed in one to say it dosent matter ;). which brings me to your next point you have NEVER been to Afghanistan that i can tell you for a fact. dont bother replying arguing over the internet is stupid

  • @nickm16a2 and tonight the coast guard gets to sleep in a warm bed while the army gets a basex tent and idf for the next 18 months

  • "SO OTHERS MAY LIVE"

  • I cant wait till I join the Coast Guard! 3 more months!!!!

  • Served at Station Yaquina Bay early 80's. Loved the 44' MLB.

  • ya...nobody comes close to what the USCG does.

  • makes me very proud of my shipmates! keep doin it! stafe safe!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Some of the baddest ass rotary wing pilots on the planet.

  • Holy shit, #5 was like a clown car. Why in the world were so many people on that boat?

  • I just researched ft lauderdale one 7:00 and there were 3 kids and 8 adults on the boat. 2 adults drowned but all 3 kids lived. 11 people on a bayliner of that size was a recipe for disaster. Without the guard probably 6 to 8 would have died. Heroes

  • I love the Guard, the only service that you can join to do for your country TODAY.

  • Look closely at about 7:02. The Dad bravely throws his little girl out and pushes/swims her to safety. Great job Dad. May have saved her life. Hope they all lived.

  • God Bless the Coast Guard!

  • When someone asks, "Do you know where I can find 30,000 people willing to risk their lives to save strangers from death ?" Anytime ! Day or night ! Foul weather ! High Seas ! Ice flows or hurricane winds or ALL OF THE ABOVE. Look no farther than the United States Coast Guard. I am proud to say I was one of those few.

  • These men are heroes!!! God bless you all! ♥ ♥ ♥

  • This comment is to someone that is in the coastguard, I'm thirteen I've wanted to join the coastguard when I'm 18 since I was nine, and I have a ton of questions, so if your in the coastguard, would you please message me

  • Inspirational video for everybody!!!!

  • cool..inspiring

  • those are some great rescues and I know it wasn't around back in the day, but how about a mention for Bernie Webber?

  • thats nothing comapered to teh border patrol auxilirys achievments, were the best boaters out there bar none.

  • @BPauxNavy Interesting, never heard that one... I've had a coxswain drop me off in a dinghy with 3ft rollers on a pole to fix a dayboard... you should have seen this guy with a 47...

  • Rescue swimmer r the shit but those pilots r prob the best helo pilots in the world and the flight mechanics r amazing to cause they r there for first aid and there to keep the helo safe

  • Respect.....

  • Good people doing extraordinary things. They should be celebrated.

  • Im in the coast guard

  • i just made a meeting with a coast guard recruiting in chicago, i was just wondering is it true that when i graduate most likely ill be sent to the bahamas or europe around there? do i get to choose were to be stationed?

  • when you are applying yes! but once you are in good luck!!! lol

  • Brighteye 15, the US Coast Guard is only stationed in the United States and Puerto Rico. We go where we are needed, but there are no stations in Europe or the Bahamas.

  • NO and somewhat

  • im joining the coast guard later

im going to be a helicopter pilot :)

  • The United States Coast Guard it the most Under Appreciated branch in the United States Armed Forces, but they don't need someone patting their back telling them they are doing a great job cause they already know.

  • This is true to a point. The United States Coast Guard is the department of Homeland security which was introduced after 9/11 before that is was the department of transportation. a little fun fact

  • in 1911 the Coast Guard offically became a branch of the U.S. Military and in 2003 the Coast Guard offically became a branch in the Department of Homeland Security

  • cool I NEVER NEW THAT.

  • Pretty much every country in the world has a coast guard of sorts. Some better than others, but no matter what, if you're in danger at sea, the guys who come to your rescue in all weather are the coast guard. Great job guys.

  • this is exactly what im going to do when i get older. i want to be a rescue swimmer.

  • GREAT JOB 110%. THANKS !!!!!!!

You are very appreciated indeed !!!!!!!

  • good 4 u

  • im gonna join the cost guard

  • good luck

  • same here, what are you lookin into doing?

  • i'm too

  • @michael13374 I am too. I hear that its nearly impossible to become a member of search and rescue. but that's my goal, and i'm going to fight for it no matter what, saving lives here in America.

  • Wow that was an amazing collection of footage. props to poster adn the crews

  • these are top 10 rescues of ALL times? What a JOKE!

  • are you fat?

  • Not as fat as you are.

  • hahaha good one fatso

  • yu both are fat for havin time to complain whos fat

  • its amazing how they can see people far out in the ocean from a helicopter, i wish my eyes were that good.

  • Abacap, I have VHS, 8 mm and mini8. Hurricane Hugo in USVI, and lots more. Let me know how I an get them to you.

  • USCG retired 22 yrs & I must say these are NOT the top 10 rescues of all time. Flew HH3Fs & HH65A. The conditions are usually so severe in the more serious rescues that no one is thinking about filming. You're extremely focused on the task & doing it without trashing you and your crew. Not poopooing these. They are what those of us in the CG do & a fine job they do. I have quite a few pieces of video worth seeing. Anyone interested in converting them, let me know.

  • of course convert them! would love to see real deal!

  • Thank you for posting this reminder of the bravery being shown and sacrifices being made while we are usually going about our normal daily routine. I am thanking God for these men and women, and asking him to continue to bless and protect them!

  • my dad has been in the coast guard for 23 years. He is currently the CO of the USCG Steadfast. He showed me a video the the EO took during a rescue mission. This video is nothing compared to the video he showed me.

  • you should post that video. :)

  • Best 22 years of my life was being a coastie. BMC retired.

  • is 38 years too old to join as a direct commission officer?

I went to the USCG page and is a little confusing.

    I am an engineer.

  • i thought 6:40 was the most frightening.

  • Agreed. I thought the man with the speedboat at the end, should have charged other boat out of danger. Easy for me with hindsight though..

  • wish the title was "10 top rescue videos".

in the worst conditions and situations with greatest risk to life there isn't usually someone on standby with a video camera. plus they are something like 300years old

  • You guys should have a TV show like COPS, this is so cool, great job..

  • Ocean Force and Party Heat are good too

  • As a fellow human being I am proud of & wholeheartedly support those who put their' lives on the line to save the lives of others.

    Good on 'em.

  • great video

  • Nice

  • My sister was JG on the Shermon in the early 90's. Coasties are some of the coolest people I know.

    Always Ready....

  • true heroes.

  • Wow... its amazing that a rescue was even attempted on a few of these, but even more amazing is that they were successful! The US Coast Guards' are true heros!

  • Great Video!

I have a short coast guard rescue video, on my page.

    -BObama2008

  • Hell I can do better than that, I'm a super hero

  • I got disqualified from the Coast Guard for no reason, the way I see it the Coast Guard Lost its chance to get a one in a million guy, and for them, I feel sorry.

  • Puddle Pirates!

  • OORAH!!!!!!!!!! Just watch The Guardian and you will see how hard this stuff is they are incredible!!!!!!!

  • hay coast gaurdsd are so sweet im 11 and already training i swim in ice water and i run three miles a day

  • I often begin to think there are no good guys left in the world. Here's another reminder that there are. Thanks USCG.

  • facco altervista org archivi skazz htm

  • facco . tk

  • i want a job crabbing how do i get 1

  • you sure?? have you watched deadliest catch??

  • I hear crabbing is a really really tough and dangerous job.

  • Respect!

  • i have never needed the coast guard during our pleasure boating, but it is nice to know these young men and women are there when needed. god bless you all

  • omg that one in the Caribbean... how many POB? Asking for trouble.

  • Sempar Paratus means "Always Ready"

  • coast guard rocks

  • My Life Guard Instructure has been in the Coast Guard for 7 years now. His name is Chris. He's a very nice guy and I respect people who put their lives on the line to rescue other people in need. STAY SAFE COAST GUARD RESCUERS!

  • Great footage and some truly awesome work on the rescue swimmers part. So Others May Live is the slogan of the US Navy SAR program. Semper Paratus (Always Prepared) is The Coast Guard Slogan. Bravo Zulu to all the Coasties from a former navy helo crew chief who wasn't a sar swimmer but has been out on a couple of sar calls.

  • That's our tax dollars at work.

  • Semper Paratus- ALWAYS READY

  • Awesome video. Anyone know the story of the boat that hit the concrete dock? It seemed like there were a lot of old people on board, perhaps a tour boat. Hope they got out okay.

  • I was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska when the 378 foot High Endurance Cutter WHEC-719 "Boutwell" docked for a brief period just prior to responding to the "Prinsendam" emergency in this video. Boutwell conducted the largest at-sea rescue ever attempted when she took on over 500 people from the burning cruise ship. Made me proud to be in the Coast Guard.

  • guys its not all about fun and games its hard work u have 2 lay ur life down to save other people most ppl dnt make it in the USCG

  • its not all fun and games its saving lives and hard work u have to lay ur life down so save other people most ppl dnt make it in so u have 2 work hard and maybe u could be like those heros they are dead brave

  • Canadian Coast Guard Nfld had calls for 5 ships that burned downed to the ground/water in 2007. That is awful. That is a lot.

  • Canadian

  • im fifteen and when i get older i want to be a rescue swimmer. thats what made me look at this video. i want to save lives.

  • turkish guard coat and turkish army is the best

  • i'm sure theres more daring resuces than this, not all of the vid's imo were top 10.

  • Makes me proud to be an ex-Coastee.

    Semper paratus - always ready.

  • Makes me proud to be an ex-Coastee.

    Semper paratus - always ready.

  • Oh man... the coolest video in this site.

  • To the Coxswain during the rescue of the gambler, outstanding control. To Dowling1981, the USCG fights for your freedom right next to the US Navy. We have to have a CG member on out vessel boarding teams, so before you run your mouth, learn the facts.

  • SEMPER PARATUS

  • woo hoo! go coast guard!

  • Coast Guard is the best! I'm joining in a couple months.

    Semper Paratus!

  • omg r u serious!. thats hard! did u know sig hansen lol

  • ive always wanted to be a coast guard but u got to be tough!

  • god bless the USCG

  • CG is awesome! All those haters need to take a step back and see what the CG really does, contrary to all the shit they get. They obviously guards coasts, as well as borders, rescue people, law enforcement, and in war time they do port security in foreign lands. They aren't under the DOD, but rather DHS which is a better fit.

  • To Dowling 1981...They fight for the freedom of People who like to breathe Air and against the forces that would have people breathe water.

  • I live in southeast Alaska, the coast guard is needed and rock!Giving Alaskan sized love for the CG!

  • People died in number 4.

  • I don't fight for freedom, I fight for my country

  • I might be switching from USMC AH-1Z pilot to a HH-60 USCG within the month. If anyone is a current or past pilot of a HH-60 and have any pointers or anything would be great. I want to be the best I can at saving all the people in those type of situations, just like those great men you saw in this video.

    Semper Fi' and Semper Paratus!

  • Born, Bred and Water Fed, OORAH

  • I love the Coast Guard. Semper paratus BABY!!!

  • lol it's HOORAH! Coast Guard.... the guardians of the sea.... so others may live..... LONG LIVE COAST GUARD!!

  • so others may live... thats a human corage.

  • so others may live..... thats a human corage.

  • These people save people everyday and people dont appreciate them until they need them

    thank you

  • great stuff.. im a goast guard in republic of ireland and boy god are you boys well trained..Fair play to ye all. god bless

  • im not sure what the coast guard dose but im prety sure you guys are puting your life on the linefor people like me, thank you

  • What happened at the 3rd rescue? Were they sucked under an another ship?

  • Coasties Rock! Love out to all the guys and gals who have served at Air Station Astoria and USCG Cape Cod! (They're also fun as hell to party with!)

  • Go USCG!

  • Great video! It would have been great if you were able to include the rescue of the 36' MLB saving the crew of that ship in 60' waves back in the 50's!

  • God Bless each and every one of you. Thank you.

  • Bless you would have done too..

    :)

  • The Coast Guard's "slogan" is not "So others may live". Our motto is Sempar Paratus.

  • So other's may live (whoever said it) is the motto of the rescue swimmers.

  • "So others may live" is the US Air Force Pararescue Slogan

  • GOD BLESS U SIR!!!! I SALUTE U !!

  • yes......but he is in the ball-park. The Rescue Swimmers motto is "so others may live" and they are in the CG!

  • "So others may live" Is the Air Force Rescue Jumper motto.

  • @1decimal8tango you're right about the coast guard motto being "Semper Paratus" (always prepared) but the rescue swimmer motto actually is "So others may live"

  • @CrashAndBurn35 I was addressing the folks saying the CG motto was "so others may live". Also Semper Paratus means "Always Ready", not always prepared.

  • @1decimal8tango yea, thats the swimmers motto

  • The #7 "Oregon Beach Inlet" was actually just off the north jetty of Newport, Oregon. Two men in an aluminum skiff capsized in the surf, and weren't wearing lifejackets. A tourist just happened to be out on the jetty with his video camera, and took that amazing footage of the two men being rescued. I was there on the jetty, as part of the CG crew...the helicopter dropped the man that they picked up off with us, and we delivered him to an ambulance. Everyone in the crew did a great job!

  • the No.1 rescue it wld of been nice if he had a k-12

  • do you get paid alot if your a resque swimmer.??

  • no. you do it because its worth doing. =] [also its HARD to get into]

  • yes lol

  • if you want money, be a sergeon.

people look beyond the money when they join the armed forces

  • You get paid 200 bucks a month more for hazardous duty pay... I think it's BS the rest of the crew doesn't get it. We had 4 shipmates lose their lives in Hawaii 2 weeks ago, we all risk it. I realize swimmers put a bit more out there, but the rest of the crew put our lives on the line also.

  • Semper Paratus

  • So Others May Live. OORAH!!!

  • thats some crazy stuff.... thank you uscg!

  • my uncle is in that! he helped during katrina.

  • I get chokd up just watching this. Proud to have spent most of my adult life with a terrific group of people! It's all good! SEMPER PARATUS!

  • the boys in washington are boys the men on this video are men!!! kc pete

  • NEVER LET GO!

  • You guys and gals are the best!!! And don't forget the You're In Command Super V raceboat representin the USCG!

  • I love my Coastie!

  • Pretty good, but for real action these videos can't compare with Farley Mowat's book "Gray Seas Under," about the Canadian sea-going salvage tug "Franklin" operating out of Nova Scotia during World War Two. Radios were only used in the most dire emergencies, because radioed locations attracted U-boats. And that was before helicopters. They even had a close encounter with a U-boat.

  • US Coast Guard--the GREATEST! Thanks for your bravery, skill and hard work.

  • Thank you for all you've done!!

  • Great video; I just wish there were narration explaining each rescue.

  • This video was just mentioned on NPR's "All Things Considered"

  • Some of these you saw pretty much nothing at all?

  • lets get some footage of our boys in the bearing?? if only you could get your hands on that :-). represent boys SO OTHERS MAY LIVE

    semper paratus

  • Thanks for always being there.

  • EXCELLENT !!

  • Cant wait to join these guys....either stingray pilot or hercules pilot.

  • cfschr1s i wanna join to
