  • @JayTie1 it is you who is immature if you truly believe that you can be too young to understand a sonata. I am 13 and can promise you that I completely comprehend the complex emotions behind his sonatas.

  • My computer crashes at 6:17:(

  • ehm ich wiege 300 kilo

  • I loved it!!!!!!

  • For me, Kempff is one of the greatest interpreters and performers of Beethoven. The fluidity of this beautifully simple piece staggers me. The "hammer blows" punctuating the piece at 6:17 are some of those moments, so common in Beethoven, where I instinctively close my eyes to concentrate purely on the sound.

  • It's great to see this kind of super musicians make a mistake! You realise that they are humans! Check out at 6.25! Amazing player!!!

  • The man channels Beethoven in his playing of the music.

  • I know I will never have enough talent to be able to play this, that's why I can only wish to play this.

  • @misfitstattoo If you want to put in the time and effort, you can play this piece. To be able to play this piece well takes a lot of practice and hard work. Desire and the will to perform is 90%. You make up for talent with longer hour's and a stronger drive to be perfect. You know the old saying of if it came in a bottle every body would have this talent :-)

  • A true G song only a true G from the o.g days can make this. alas there all gone :(

  • @ABXG

    God damn right.

    Kempff was a true G.

Dude had Parkinson's and still played.

  • At 2:40, you see true magic...

Maestro Kempff takes us to other places far far away, in the world of Beethoven's greatness

  • I love you Wilhelm Kempff! When i started playing piano i did it for fun, now i see that I must do it with everything i have! Your the greatest Pianist in my books!

  • I'm twelve and I listen and love this type of music, but when I mention Wilhelm Kempff my friends just stare and ask me what am I talking about.

  • Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. (V.Hugo)

  • he makes it look effortless

  • 2:40 holy shit im i doing that..

  • was he overwhelmed by his own feelings induced by this piece so that he made a mistake at 6:28?

    a true master. very touching.

  • Celà me rapelle l'année BEETHOVEN en 1970 avec Brigitte MASSIN, quelle belle époque.

  • His face tells me that he tried to feel the song.

  • justin bieber looking on with jealousy at 1:44

  • @Shanelololol ahuauhahuauhauh

  • @Shanelololol can´t stop laughing!!!LOL

  • @arisa0n No, I must disagree.

  • even saying that NOTHING can be said about Beethoven played by Kempff ,... is already saying TOO MUCH...words are not needed here...

and now i feel really Stupid... but i just HAD to comment here , in case i die from this BEAUTY... before this video ends....

  • Incredible, the way he widens his eyes at 2:40 is almost epiphanic.

  • One of the best classical pianists I've ever listened to. He really captures the spirit of the European culture of the day when he plays our classical music - but then he *is* European. Much more authentic than people who just aim to... -simulate- it..

  • Great composer. Great pianist. Breathtaking.

  • Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you thank you.

  • geil komme aus münchen

  • Beethoven... i can only say he's the master of music..

  • This is my favorite sonata ever.

  • Sad that he's dead.

  • Topest!!!!!!!!

  • 02:06 buuu!

    lol

  • love the way how they filmed his face rather than the hands playing, makes this very personal...

  • @MrJones1337 he seems like he's playng whit eyes ...

  • @MrJones1337 oh those beautiful expressions....this is great....this what one plays a piano for....for pleasure....

  • @MrJones1337 Also love that they filmed not men but women, you can see them affected by the music.

  • @MrJones1337 also extremely frustrating considering i'm trying to figure out how to finger jump with the left hand

  • very great....will be heard for centuries

  • such an amazing piece, great player!

  • GREAT

  • how can someone not like this sonata?????? YOU CANNOT SAY THAT YOU DONT LIKE IT.you can only say that you dont prefer classic music.

  • Amazing melody and sublime presentation.

  • soso komme aus münchen

  • It's strange to think that Wilhelm Kempff was born only 68 years after Beethoven's death.

  • So beautiful! Thank you... :))

    FeridunD

  • Where are the hands? Bravo!

  • This performance is a little slow..With the emotion and power of Beethoven, I just dont see him playing this as slow.

  • Breath taking music but I wish I could find a Kempff video where you could actually see what his hands are doing more than a tight head shot of him staring off into space. A mix of camera angles is nice but come on!

  • Kempff Rocks. He is one of the Greatest Pianists ever and probably my favorite overall interpreter of the Beethoven Sonatas. So effortless, natural, instinctive.... true to the music without ruining it. This really moved me.

  • past three days numerous times i listened it.spectacular music amd excellent player what can i say

  • @SayNoToTheism- do you play piano??? Good grief I hope not because no one's got anything on Beethoven. I would know because I've actually played his stuff (including the Tempest sonata- all three movements.)

  • never showed his hands? :(

  • Perfect!

  • i like the video shots!

  • i never will play so! incredible!

  • beautiful is beautiful no matter what

  • Even the little mistake at the end seems so perfect....

  • naa wie geil hab 3 brüste

  • Once you've heard Wilhelm Kempff play Beethoven you won't want to listen to other pianists playing Beethoven. Believe me.

  • @samthegreat4 I've tried and you are 100% correct.

  • @samthegreat4 Arrau is from far better than Kempff

  • @rochefort82 That's your opinion. When I listen to Kempff perform, the music flows smoothly throughout my ears.

  • @samthegreat4 I totally agree.

  • Then all 68 persons here didn't listen to Claudio Arrau .... and then I feel so sorry for you.

  • @laphreux

I'm not saying that Arrau isn't good ;).

I'm just saying that momentarily I like Kempff best when it comes down to Beethoven specialists.

Beethoven was German, Kempff is a German. Same culture, natural feel for German music etc. Just my opinion.

  • @samthegreat4

Then please watch this video of claudio arrau (talking about his teachers)

And after that, listen to Arrau interpretation. Then ass Beethoven's lover, you will change your mind :)

  • @samthegreat4 It seems a diminution of the universality of Beethoven's music to deem only members of his culture as truly capable of a natural feel for it.

  • @samthegreat4 thats so true....

  • @samthegreat4

    100% true

  • Exquisite music, astounding performance!

  • WOW! Greatest MUSIC EVER!

  • this is perfection

  • he is not even looking at the piano...

  • i absolutely love the possessed look in his eyes...

  • wonderful!

  • 0:30-0:46 ..AMAZING OLD MAN ....

  • THE MUSIC IS INDEED IN HIS EYES....BEAUTIFUL !!!

  • Unprecedented beautiful, expressive, simple, perfect rythme, inspired from higher beings, it seems........when recorded, cds still available ? Guillaume.

  • The master's eyes said it all...he was in another space, another time, untouched by worldly attachements, his music is out of this world, etheral!

  • What is it about Classical that just Pulls you in? It just feels Invigorating.

  • Any videos of him performing in say..the 1920s or before or 30s or such?

  • soso ich bin nackt

  • @TheMadlionist Don't you dare, my friend, ever, talk about Justin Bieber in this video again. It's like saying "fuck!" in the middle of a golden cloud in the holy heaven.

  • 2:06 i love his expression

  • everytime I listen to this I feel amazed.... he is a master of piano....

  • najo ich bin nackt

  • Sweet! love the tempest!

  • Wilhelm <3

  • if Wilhelm Kempff is rly rly rly good.... what is Beethoven then?

  • @DingDongDang132 a genius

  • @DingDongDang132 cant u figure that out on your own retard

  • @FingerMyFinger dude calm down.....

  • im in heaven when i litsen to this

  • Oh how this song never get's old.

  • best ever

  • Great job, Wilhelm!!!!

  • Wilhelm Kempff was undoubtedly the best Beethoven's interpreter ever.

  • @lnsuda Beethoven hasn't got shit on Kempff.

  • @lnsuda ...How would we know this when we dont even know how Beethoven played it? This performance to me seems a little slow.

  • @beethovenlovedmozart Well I don't think so. My point is that Kempff is perfectly capable of keeping up with Beethoven's energetic and vigorous style. I don't see why never listening to Beethoven himself playing this would not let people decide what is like and what is not an ideal way of interpreting Beethoven's works. I can't deny I like Kempff's style best when compared to Gould, for example. But that's just my strictly nonprofessional opinion and everyone's free to agree with it or not. :)

  • Wonderful Wilhelm Kempf!!! such a visionary poetry

Barenboim and Gould are great, but they don't come close to him. Another superb, amazing focused performance is by Chuquisengo'

  • He isn't dead. God wanted piano lesson for a bit.

  • @UlysseHol now.. that's a comment to be a best comment, not "like this if you thought the piano was a truck"

  • I'm speeeeeechlesssssssss!!!!!

    Total harmony...

We say Kempff , and we mean Beethoven,

we say Beethoven, and we mean Kempff!

  • @MrHelpful95 you're right!

  • Damn. There is something really eerie about this recording. It sounds different from all the other interpretations I've heard. The notes are more articulated, or the piano is really crisp, or maybe he's the only guy who actually understands what Beethoven was trying to say, I don't know. I can hear words when Will plays this though-- he's the only one too.

  • @christopher19894 he is the only guy we know of that mastered piano. After listening to other piano players i always have the need to listen to one of his performance just to remind me once again how piano should be played :-)

  • Classy performance but what's up with all the fucked up facial expressions like he's getting an orgasm or something probably jizzed his pants while playing that.

  • @Redtsar999 Thats called passion kid and if by watching this u couldnt realize that by urself, then u probally will never understand its meaning.

  • @Derzaum what's the point of saying this, seriously ?

What do you know about passion anyways ?

  • @Beaudereck why do u ask? Are you trying to improve ur passion knowledge or just backing up Redstar999's vulgarity against one of our finest maestro memories?

  • satan fucks atatürk in his nigger ass

  • hehe wie geil hab 3 brüste

  • Definitely my favorite pianist... his style is so mature and delicate. I think this is exactly how Beethoven intended his Tempest Sonata Movement No. 3 to be played.

SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!

  • 2:40- 2:54 is one of my favorite parts of the song

  • ehm ich hab was unanständiges entdeckt

  • lovely

  • Mmmmmh ... Powerful :)

  • Beethoven is so lucky for Kempff played his sonata

  • @hardalmardal Kempff is so lucky Beethoven wrote such a sonata...
