I find scarification beautiful. I also believe in cultures preserving their traditions. The rite of passage is important - however, I believe blood rites such as these, should by undertaken IF you are old enough to understand what is happening and why, and that you give consent, on your own, and without coercion. I've had a foreskin for the last 24 years and I have never had a problem with keeping it clean. It's not hard to maintain at all. There are actually a great number of men who were circumcised both as infants and adults who regret not having a foreskin. Nature put it there for a reason. I find scarification beautiful. I also believe in cultures preserving their traditions. The rite of passage is important - however, I believe blood rites such as these, should by undertaken IF you are old enough to understand what is happening and why, and that you give consent, on your own, and without coercion. That baby? Oh HELL NO! Cut yourself all you want, but cutting that child is straight up brutality, and I don't give a fuck how you look at it, that's just wrong.

I think they're beautiful. In our (north american) culture there isn't a coming of age initiation, one day you are just supposed to wake up and be grown up. Something like this is symbolic and physical and painful, it is a trial to test your strength and resolve.

In Western world, when woman has difficulty to get pregant surgeon pricks the uterus(scarifies) to WAKE up part of BRAIN that orders body to have menstrual periods, ovulation etc to get into action. Later, woman starts having periods again and after ovulation, pregnancy follows. Likewise, border between growing as homosexual or heterosexual is VAGUE so brain must get the RIGHT message about DIRECTION to follow. All is connected and ignorance is what makes people laugh at African KNOWLEDGE.

Dont get me started on routine male circumcision. It's irrational and unecessary. Thankfully it's not practiced in Ireland.
I'm more of a "his/her body, his/her choice" kind of person. If adults want to mutilate themselves having been made aware of the risks, let them, but why force it on children too young to consent? You don't think it's worth it? That's dissapointing, but fair enough.

I've had a foreskin for the last 24 years and I have never had a problem with keeping it clean. It's not hard to maintain at all. There are actually a great number of men who were circumcised both as infants and adults who regret not having a foreskin. Nature put it there for a reason. It has a protective and a sexual function, just like the clitoral hood, but we don't go cutting up the vaginas of baby girls.

You seem to be unaware that approx 80% of the world's male populace are not circumcised. Circumcision is not the norm and even in America rates are steadily dropping. The current generation of new borns have about a 50/50 ratio of cut vs intact.
You think it's gross because that's what you've been conditioned to believe. I have seen many bad circumcisions in my time; ugly bumpy scar tissue, skin adhesions etc. Some men complain of discomfort due to tightness of the skin.

What's gross about it? Is it anymore gross than the vagina? Besides, intact penises look exactly the same as circumcised ones when they're erect and the skin retracts.
And no, those statistics are not bullshit. Just Google "circumcision rates" in North America, you'll get a history of the gradual decline in the trend. When the current generation of baby boys grow to be our age they will be changing in a locker room with roughly half circumcised, half not.
