I've worked in Canada as well as the US. I'll put it simply. Any city I have ever been to is full of ignorant douchebags. Every small town I've been to is full of nice, polite people and the odd drunk guy that will kick your ass for running your mouth. Both countries have their pros and cons. A few years ago I took my kids to sicily. reneted a car and drove the island....went to messina, catania, savoca, taormina, canicati, corleone etc..anyway my kids loved it. Taormina was a beautiful sight too. Siracusa, although run down, was quite charming as well. I'd love to spend an entire summer there. I've worked in Canada as well as the US. I'll put it simply. Any city I have ever been to is full of ignorant douchebags. Every small town I've been to is full of nice, polite people and the odd drunk guy that will kick your ass for running your mouth. Both countries have their pros and cons. Both countries have crooked ass politicians. We have a better healthcare system. The US has a bigger military. In the long run, though, we're pretty much the same

A few years ago I took my kids to sicily. reneted a car and drove the island....went to messina, catania, savoca, taormina, canicati, corleone etc..anyway my kids loved it. You have to remember that canadians sometimes have an inferiority complex with americans and want to say ...hey look what we are doing. Anyway our boys are fighting in afghanistan with ur boys. @MrTommypops Yeah, Agrigento was my favorite place of all (I studied the classics throughout my academic career - so getting to see the temples and ruins was priceless). Taormina was a beautiful sight too. Siracusa, although run down, was quite charming as well. I'd love to spend an entire summer there. Unfortunately, I never got to see the northern coast and hear it is quite amazing. Maybe next time.

Those shingles covered alot of houses and churches throughout Italy. My dad is from a town called racalmuto, a small town near agrigento. My cousin is Leonardo Sciascia a famous sicilian writer. But I do see its limitations as a country and agree that many Americans view it with a sense of awe. It is a formidable country on many levels, but not the ones they're necessarily thinking of.
Plus, there may be a political angle to their views.

The 'Vietnam War' wasn't a war. So you can't say whether we won it or not. But our goal was to make it not communist, so we failed our goal in that sense.

Book yourself a flight to Vegas and drink a weekend away at the microbrew bars. And why did you just name Busch and Labatt. beers found at Walmart and at the end of any beer aisle? You sound like you actually try to find the cheapest beer possible.

@ToastedYak Coors, Labatt and Busch are the only main American beers in Canada. and of course micro-brewed beer is going to taste better duh. I'll go to Vegas, if you go to Vancouver and go to Granville Island and go to the brewery there and you'll never leave. Pilsner, Molson Can, Kokanee is better than Coors, Bud, or Corona... it's just a fact.

Cause man, lemme tell you, as someone who is on both sides of the border often, Ignorace is an almost daily struggle. But on the U.S. side I found it to be a strong curiosity like I was always getting questions about Canada from "Is the healthcare really bad?" to "What side of the road do you drive on" I wasn't a condescending dick when I answered. Unlike some.
