  • You need to study the REAL history, not what you've seen in the movies.

  • Anyone interested in Missouri should check out my civil war reenacting groups website. We are Crowely's 3rd. MO Inf. based out of KC, MO. 2011 is the 150th annv. of 1861 and Missouri will have reenactments at Wilson's Creek, Lexington, Carthage, Cole Camp, Booneville, and Athens. Our reenacting group est. in the late 70's and is the largest and best Conf. Infantry Company in the Mid-West. Our 2011 reenacting impression will be that of a Missouri State Guard Infantry

  • If a person checks history in the year 1859 was published the Communist Manifesto* penned by Carl Marx. Almost all those countries that became communists were a "farm based" society such as the South at the time. The North was more of an "Industrial society". I wonder if maybe the political leaders of the South then, had copies of the CM* as well as some of their senior Officers and were using it as a basis for their political system.

  • States Rights that what the war was over, Yankees like this only tell it was about slavery. Yes the SOuth had slaves, only a few were slave owens. The reason for the common SOUTH man was fighting in the war was that yankees were down here, telling them what they could do. and how they could live. Funny they never talk about the slaves in the North,

  • 1. Slavery was not the cause taxation was

    2. Missouri did more then consider it they did secede legally. I think this video was about to address it but stopped.

    3. The Slave issue was not a war aim of the North till 1863 after the South laid a sound whooping. Most in the North were fine with slavery and infact Unionist in mIssouri owned slaves. My ancestor fought for the north and they owned slaves. Gazzy was right it was all about money.

  • @JesusFishMinistries What put "TEETH" into the US CONST was it was decided that this war is to be fought against SLAVERY! The Southern States were arrogant and had what they (the South) wanted happened; well today Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union would be the two world powers---

  • The 12th state

  • This person does not know his history. This a waste of time. If this war was all about slavery. Why didn't Lincoln run a free the slaves platform? Where was that big warm Yankee welcome for the Africans in slaved in the south? Why did it Lincoln take 3 years to emancipate the slaves in state he did not control? Why did Lincoln say he would not free one slave in order to save the Union?

  • true slavery was not the main cause of the war, but missouri was NOT a confederate state. It was a union slave state, meaning that it was part of the union during the war, but had slavery. the only reason that slavery came in was because up to 1863 the union was losing the war. most folks in the north wanted the war to stop and believed that if the south wanted it that bad then they should have it. lincoln had to come up with a way to bring mre folks to the union so in came the issue of slavery

  • well sir, Missouri was indeed technacally a Confederate State, the reason it was not "declared" a Confederate State in the federal history notes was because the federals came through Missouri and slowly pushed through to the capital to stop the secession but Jefferson Davis met with claiborne jackson and agreed to form a Confederate State

  • read the cornerstone speach by alexander stephens. slavery was the main reason for succession.

  • Doug, Your history is way off sir. The legally elected state legislature met and voted for succession including the real Governor. You are simply repeating a myth taught by the public school systems. My ancestor fought for Missouri on the union side and even he claimed in letters that Missouri left the union and he was fighting to save the rest of it and bring it back which they did. The South legally left the union and Abe got greedy.

  • This is a damn lie...Slavery was not the main cause of the Civil War, And Missouri was infact a Confederate State

  • Ben Franklin Terry from Texes during the civil war started Terry's Texes rangers. He was killed in the first battle. But Terry's Texes rangers started the rebel yell that the whole confederate army used. They named Terry county Texas after him. I would say im kin to him. Anybody can look it up.

  • my great(x4)grandfather James Andrew Taliaferro,

served as Captain in company G,1st Missouri volunteer Cavalry. served in battles of Blue Mills,Lexington,Sugar Creek,Bentonville and and Elkhorn where he was wounded in the left thigh and left in the hands of the Union Army.fortunately union doctors did not remove his leg, they did nothing for him and in time his wound healed. He drew Confederate pension until his death in 1931. I'm proud to have this man in my family history. family hero

  • The primary reason for the war was tariffs, the burden of which fell on the South. On a list of 10 causes, slavery would not even make the list. When the South left the Union, the federal government lost 80% of its tax intake. The slave issue was something an anti Negro Lincoln cooked up to punish the South and to use as a moral issue to prevent England from recognizing and assisting the South. Quit perpetuating federal propaganda.

  • with the concept of SLAVERY being an issue of states rights or federal law.

  • Great job Wynn & Joseph.

My Grandmother Cora Benne-Dierker, had 2 uncles serve out of Mo.

John & Frank Dierker. They marched to Ga with Sherman, march to the sea.

A grandson John Dierker, Sheriff, Wentzville was shot and killed by an ex-slave. 1916 ?

    Thanks again. rb
